We posted for the first time a few weeks ago and now are ready to fill. We have a vinyl therapy pool (6' x 6' x 51' interior) for our daughter who has cerebral palsy. Reading the information on the internet and this forum, we have opted to follow the Dichlor/Bleach Method. Our therapy tub/pool holds 1000 gals of water and we will heat it to body temperature, ie 98-99 deg F. There are no jets, just suction and return lines. We are putting it in an insulated garage that never fails below freezing on concrete.
We have a Waterway 1/8 HP circulation pump (30GPM) with a 25 sq ft cartridge filter and a raypak electric heater 11KW.
We will use it daily, 2-3 people total to support her in the pool, she cannot stand but benefits from the hydrostatic pressure, buoyancy and warmth. We would like to use minimum chemicals since we will be using it daily. We purchased the Taylor K-2006 as suggested and measured the tap water. We have city water which is rated very good nationally.
The results of the tests are as follows:
PH 7.8
TA 110
FC 0.8
CC 0.3
CH 75
CYA 0/trace
We have purchased the dichlor, bleach, muriatic acid, baking soda and are not sure on the borax.
The CH is a little low but we have read the posts on the forum and a little low is ok.
So do we fill, then turn on the pump, filter and heater AND add the 10 ppm shock of dichlor all at the same time?
When do we adjust the PH with the muriatic acid? We don't want to damage any of the equipment.
