  1. I have a 1999 Landmark Spa. There are two Heater Relays inside the IQ 2000 motherboard control panel in the upper left corner. One is called the heater Relay and the other is called the heater interlock relay according to the parts list I found online. Which is which? Is the heater relay first in line or second? Now the two input wires that come from the 30amp breaker go into the relay on the right (first in cascade), then into the relay on the left(second) and then into the heater itself (last). The relay on the right has a red and a blue wire coming from the motherboard on the top and the relay on the left has a white and a black wire. All four of these are 22 gauge and come from the same plastic plug on the motherboard. When the heater is on both relays have 20v measured across the 2 wires that come from the motherboard and both relays have 240v measured across the 10 gauge wires leading to the heater. Now with the heater off and the spa's set temperature turned all the way down I still have 20v on the small wires and 240v on the 10 gauge wires of the relay to the right. Is this normal? Should this relay shut down? The relay to the left does shut down in this condition and there is 0v on the 22 gauge wires from the motherboard and 0v on the output 10 gauge wires leading to the heater. The heat LED on the motherboard also goes off. Are both relays supposed to open so there is no voltage passing through them? Are all 4 of the small wires coming from the motherboard supposed to have 0v across them when heat is not called for? If this is supposed to be the case, what would be the cause for the red & blue wires still having 20v measured across them regardless of heat being called for or not? There is a white, black and green wire coming from the heater. The black wire is plugged into the left side of the left side relay, the white wire is plugged into the right side of the left relay, the green wire is plugged into the heater ground. Is this correct. Lastly, does anyone know where I can acquire a wiring diagram / schematic of this model spa? Thank You, Bob
  2. The most likely culprit is a sticking heater relay, but there could be other possibilities. John
  3. Spa temp is set at 100 degrees. Twice in six weeks the temp went to over 120 and the Spa shut down-blinking red light on panel. I replaced both thermistors and once again set temp at 100 degrees. After running ok for about another six weeks the temp went to about 130 degrees and the Spa once again shut down. In both instances I waited for the water temp to drop to about 90 degrees before I could turn the Spa back on. Question-Can anyone tell me why the heater does not shut down at the set temp of 100 degrees??? (Occassionally) The Spa does shut down "auto" after reaching this high temp of 120-130 degrees. Spa cannot be restarted until temp drops back down to about 105.Called Hot Springs-told me to call a tech. How appropriate!!!!
  4. I have a 50Amp breaker on my main panel (indoors). That goes to a 50 amp subpanel at the spa. There is a 30amp GFCI Breaker that goes to the heater only. There is a 20 amp GFCI breaker that runs the rest of the spa. I would like to do the following: Install a 50 amp GFCI breaker on the main panel (indoors) and install a 30 amp Non-GFCI breaker along with a 20 amp Non-GFCI breaker at the subpanel.Reason for this is the 30amp GFCI breaker is a GE and apparently is defective. Rather than install another 30 amp GFCI GE breaker at the sub-panel, I would like to replace the GE breakers with another brand GFCI breaker panel and put the GFCI's inside the main panel indoors to keep them from the weather.Question for an electrician to answer, is that safe?? Do I still have the GFCI protection by moving the GFCI's indoors at the panel as I did at the subpanel outdoors????
  5. FYI - HotSpring uses 2 separate circuits isolating the heater on it's own circuit. The 30 Amp side is the one that keeps tripping. The 20 amp side runs the rest of the spa. That side is ok.Presently the spa heater is running after the breaker was off for awhile. I just flipped it to the on position and it is presently working. The breaker tripped off agian after running for appox 2 days. Don't know why. The water heated up, the ready light came on and the heater turned off. The heater was off when the breaker tripped again. It seem the breaker trips any time it wants too. I susoect it may have something to do with the GFCI????? Any suggestions????
  6. Yes, the 30amp side is the one that keeps tripping. Wiring is OK. On the 20 amp side that one runs the rest of the spa, that one is OK. I disconnected the heater wires from the SPA CONSOLE AND REINSERTED THEM AND THE HEATER IS PRESENTLLY HEATING. I REALLY DON'T KNOW WHY OR FOR HOW LONG. I GUESS I'LL SEE SOON. 30 amp heater breaker ran for 2 days then tripped again. Reset it and it was ok for awhile. Then tripped again. The general consensus is that there is bad wiring or bad breaker. I took the "load" of the heater of the spa control and the breaker stayed "set". When I plugged the wires back into the heater terminals on the spa control box, eventually and apparently for some reason I can't figure out the breaker "trips".Does anyone else have any ideas??? Something has to be tripping this breaker.

  8. Thank you, I will try, #8 wire goes from Main Panel to 50Amp sub-panel. Been that way for ten years. From 50amp sub-panel to spa control panel total of six wires. From the 30 amp side #10 wire Blue to T2, red to T4. That goes to Watkins heater #73790. Thats the one that loooks like 2 silver tubes. From the 20Amp breaker is #12 wire, Blue to T3, white to t6, red to T5. a #8 GROUND WIRE GOES FROM SUB-PANEL TO t7 GROUND. Heaters were relaced as follows, original 0ne burned out 11/03, was replaced with 72797. That one burned out 3/06 was replaced with 73790. Both were replaced by a Hot Springs Service tech. So at least he said they were burned out. That one is the current problem. However, as I write this the heater is now working. I do not know for how long. I simply removed the three wire that goes from the heater to the control panel as someone suggested to do and turned the breakers on. This time they stayed on. Now I'm really confused. Any suggestions????
  9. I replaced the heater on 1999 Landmark 3 times already. 30 amp breaker keeps tripping. The rest of spa stays on. The red light does not blink on the front console indicating that there is "power". Just stays on but the heater does not heat.Every time I try to reset the breaker it immediately trips off. Heater "on" light in the eletronic compartment indicates the heater is on. Any suggestions as to what else could be causing this other than the heater needing to be replaced????
