  1. UPDATE: New pump installed yesterday (18 hours ago) , working well. Had shocked 2 times in 8 days, now pool is cloudy but blue. Here are my numbers: FC 12ppm CC 0 ph 7.4 alk 120 cal hardness 140 cya 38 ppm watergram read -.25 I think i followed all the test kit instructions to arrive at these numbers. I can see slight algea on deep end walls and corners (I can see about 4 feet into the pool), only filtering through skimmers and main drain, need to get a new fuse for polaris. Again it has only been 18 hours for filter, but wondering if I should add algeacide or shock again? Thanks, Jill
  2. Thank you to all for your information, I have employed my kids and self to stir as much as we can. I was hoping to get away with not telling the story, but Pool Clown asked for it, and bad decisions usually always make for a good story..... On June 11 the pump began making a humming noise, husband took apart on 6/12 and thought impellar looked okay, determined it was the capacitor, ordered it, but with the weekend, much to our chagrin, it didn't arrive until 6/16. With work he wasn't able to get to it until the next night and he (who is usually soooo good with this stuff but I guess too many days lapsed from when he took it apart to when he reassembled)installed it. Seemed like crisis averted, all is running well but suddenly there is black smoke and burning smell(of course started an electrical fire)! So now we really need a new motor! I ordered on 6/17, it shipped 6/18 and with extra $$ for fedex home delivery, but again the weekend, they are saying will be delivered 6/22. Which is the morning he leaves for a week long business trip. So I will be left to attempt to install the new motor and reassemble. I think I can do it, except for the weight of the pump while screwing it on initially...working in a very tight space. Our pool was so beautiful as we got a new liner in May It was 90 degrees and humid here in MI yesterday and a couple inches of rain this past week, afraid of what the pool will look like when I uncover it. Will check the chemicals again today. Wondering if adding algeacide at this point would help with no filtration? Wondering if throwing in a submersable sump pump to circulate would help? I am trying to keep it covered (solar blanket), but need to stir, which is more important? Thanks again everyone I appreciate your input! Jill
  3. We are waiting on parts for our 20x40 inground pool pump motor. It has been 7 days (we tried one part without luck and have ordered more) and will be another 2-3 days. Is there anything I can do beside sit back and watch the water turn green? I added a case of liquid shock this morning and stir/swept with the broom, but without turning the water over by filter, is there anything else I can do chemically to buy a few more days?
