  1. Thanks for the reply. It is gunite. It is gray and very rough. The photo is a bit off color. I live in Katy, TX just west of Houston. Water was not encountered while excavating to pool. As to why it hasn't been plastered, I keep asking the contractor the same question. It is scheduled to be plastered next week. I found an article stating that seepage through gunite is common as it is a porous material (see: http://www.pooleng.com/Shotcrete---Gunite/ca-24.aspx). It is the plaster that is waterproof. I am still concerned that I see rust stains as shown in one of the photos. I'm assuming this is the re-bar rusting which might indicate a more than expected amount of seepage.
  2. We are having a new pool built and the gunite was installed on April 1, 2010. It has yet to be plastered and after recent heavy rains, water appears to be seeping in through the walls. Below are links to photos of these apparent leaks. I would appreciate any advise as to the severity of this issue and what solutions might be required. Thanks in advance. http://ashabranner.smugmug.com/Other/Temp/PossibleGuniteCrack02/894725179_QkCWW-L.jpg http://ashabranner.smugmug.com/Other/Temp/PossibleGuniteCrack01/894725155_QjLEq-L.jpg
