  1. My wife has weighed in on this and thinks none of you are qualified to call me a bonehead. She hasn't commented on whether on not she feels you're accurate.
  2. Bite your tongue; we're better off without him kidnapping this board. You're just a victim of the Stockholm Syndrome.
  3. Not all ozonators are created equal. Some are UV and some are CD. The UV type put out much less ozone and need a bulb change every 12-18 months or they become useless. The CD (which I certainly prefer) put out much more ozone but some require a chip change every year or so, some do not. Ask lots of questions and find out what you're getting before you make a decision based on price alone thinking they're all the same.
  4. No. I've often said that sometimes it's more important who NOT to buy from (I have my list but I'll refrain) but in this case all the makers you mention are not only not in the "stay away" group but are top notch IMO.
  5. In this case I think you should wet test and then ask if you're still unsure as both are good spa brands. You'll find people on each side of the fence preferring their brand (nothing wrong with that) but more often than not, wet testing both will point you in one direction or the other.
  6. Wow, I'm not sure what I said to upset you besides giving my opinion. Who buys a new spa because the jets need upgrading? My spa is 6½ yrs old and I could get a new one at a good price but see no reason to. There is also no reason for me to change my jets and I know that people won't be paying $300 for new jetpacks as some kind of upgrade unless they have a problem with them but that isn't somethingI see. I'm not against Bullfrog, I just see the jetpack idea as a good Marketing approach don't see any added value to the customer long term. There are spas out there that I think are poor choices but I am NOT saying Bullfrog is a bad spa so please don't act like I'm trying to defame them.
  7. Cal basically copies spas from Sundance, Jacuzzi, Hot Springs, etc. with the idea that they'll sell the same thing cheaper. However, I wouldn't necessarily call it the same thing just because they've made it look so. I'm not a beleiver in Cal Spas quality either so make sure you're really comfortable with the dealer if you are going that route.
  8. You are either another of Jim's disciples that he sends to pretend to be independent or you truly are new and simply do not know of what you speak. Either way, Jim has promised to leave so maybe this board can get back to being here merely to help others. If you have issue with anyhting I post then that is unfoirtunate but I won't be too upset about it. Stick around and join in, it'll be very good source if he is truly leaving. As to who I am, there are many very good people here who sell certain spas or own certain spas but I I prefer to keep both anonymity and independence. You won't see me tell you that I think you should buy spa "X" and I prefer it that way as I in fact am tied to more than one brand in one way or another.
  9. I guess it's a matter of opinion. I know I wouldn't want to be replacing jetpacks at $300 per and I doubt many others would either but to each his/her own.
  10. I would go check so I could at least say I looked at all my options. They may blow you away as the spa you want or they may reaffirm your desire to stay close to home. Get the trip charge in writing BTW.
  11. ... but I suspect there's no more truth in his last statement than in any of the other ones. They don't call him the Spa Deceptionist for nothing; he'll be back.
  12. I think it's a novel idea but an average spa. All the seats are the same level, the jetpacks are expensive to replace and I doubt that very many people will be going out and getting new ones down the line to upgrade. What you start with is probably what you'll stick with.
  13. Sure, and I'm supposed to beleive that you're actually going to stop posting here when it's the only site you're not banned from. The reality is you can't handle the truth. BTW, I have no haterd for you, only for your actions. If anything, I pity you and wish you would see the light and come clean but I'm not holding my breath.
  14. You'll find people with opinions on each (whether they own one, sell one or just know the products) but I have an opinion and it is THE answer as far as I'm concerned. Those are from three good spa makers so I think you should go wet test all 3 and buy the one that fits/feels best to you both (assuming all 3 dealers are AOK).
  15. That's the kind of crap that kills me. You are simply selling the TV spas that Phoeniix makes and they're NO better than the ones from Cal Spas, Master or anyone else. How dare you try to pass off your TV option as top notch while you rail on the others are a long term mistake (which they are, just like yours).
  16. The story is simple. Jim has a long past and he was caught one time posting questions as a regular spa owner about Hot Springs and then logging on as a supposed Hot Springs rep and giving lame answers in an attempt to discredit Hot Springs. He was caught by the moderator and banned from that site (he's disputes it like a kid caught with his hand in the cookie jar yet still claiming innocence but it's a fact). There are MANY other cases of suspicious questions where Jim follows shortly after with his rhetoric. Someone wondered whether this was a similar case but I certainly see it as legit so don't take it personally (Jim should but then again, he created the suspicion by his actions).
  17. You have no idea of Jim's history and you don't realize that he comes here to try to lure people over to his sales website. I just want to help the unsuspecting. Unlike him, I have nothing to sell. I just can't stand his lying and misrepresentations. You can't embelish stories like these: The truth
  18. On this we agree. I know from your website that one of your customers posted that he was only seeing his cabinet temp at about 84º with teh pumps on which he found to be due to a lot of heat loss at the bartop. That just shows how easily a poorly insulated spa can loose heat in colder weather as I'd hate to see how low his cabinet temp will dip when the pump isn't on for filtering.
  19. The reality is everyone has their favorites but sometimes what's more importanat is to ask what spas the profesionals here specifically do NOT recommend. If you're still looking at Artiesian, Hot Springs and D1 I doubt you'll find them on anyone's negative list (the reputable people anyway).
  20. I hate to be overly critical, but the proper adapatation to that famous quote would be ""Dammit Jim, I'm a spa tech, not a TV repair man!"
  21. This is the only site that Jim is allowed to post to (other than his own) due to his deplorable/dishonest actions in the past. Coincidentally, this is about the only site where you see continual arguing. All of the spa sites have great info. Jim just doesn't know how to play properly with others and never last long before his action send him packing. Some day he'll go too far on this iste and get banshed from here too (yet agian I should say as he's only been allowed back here a short time ago and I think they did so just to draw in some traffic).
  22. I have heard of Master spas TVs having trouble raising and lowering but have no first hand knowledge. I hear nothing but horror stories relative to quality issues on TV spas in genaral. I'd stay away from TVs in spas, far away.
  23. I think redwood and cedar are pretty similar. However, with some of the sythetics I've seen the last few years that have a much better 'wood" look that the early plastic looking synthetics, I'll never have a wood spa. I know, you may prefer the look of wood but that's when thy're new. I see spas when they're 2 yrs old, 4 yrs, etc. and when you use that for a comparision it blows me away.
  24. On most spas you only need acces to the front of the spa. I do believe you need access to 3 sides on the Artesian but you need to confirm that further. I don't like the fully sunken in idea for spa but I do like the partial. what nice is to set it in so the seat is even with the outside ground. This also allow you to get a cover lifter on and you definitely want one of those IMO.
