  1. I'm not too worried about the haze as far as swimming in it. I really just want to know that the filter is working properly. When I change the port position on the multi-port valve the water gushes out of the backwash port. When I get it back to filter it still comes out of the back wash port just slower. I can usually get it to stop by tapping the multi-port handle with a rubber mallet. I have a hose connected to the backwash port and just have it going back into the pool so the drip doesn't create a swamp. The water that is coming out of it looks clean unless I have it on backwash. So my symptoms are... 1. I think the haze must be sand particles floating in the water and then they settle out to the bottom because I get what looks like sand on the bottom of the pool. 2. Backwash port drips constantly and I have to use a mallet to stop it. 3. I am reading between 0-5 PSI on the pressure gauge but most of the time 0 PSI 4. The suction on the pump seems to drop after a while and the only way for me to restore it is to change the position of the multi-valve port and then move it back to filter and the suction is strong again. 5. When I hook up the vacuum, it works well for a little while and then the suction drops. Thanks, David
  2. I recently installed a 26" baqapure / 200lb sand filter on small 5000 gallon pool. I have the pump set at 1750 RPM filtering 12 hours a day, and chlorine dispenser on the line running back to the pool. I am having three issues that I am looking for guidance on and wondering if they are related. 1. The water from the start has seemed a little hazy. Its clean but just isnt crystal clear like in previous years despite shocking every week. 2. I notice what looks like sand accumulating where there are seams or wrinkles in the liner. 3. On top of the filter where you can switch to bypass, backwash, and so on, the seal inst the best. If I move the control handle at all, water starts coming out of the backwash port. Even when I place it back in filter position water still trickles out. I have to take a rubber mallet and gently tap the handle where it connects to the center of the filter head to get the water to stop trickling. Could this filter be blowing small particles of sand into the pool because the seal on the control handle is flaky or all these cause by something else entirely? Also, any guidance on how to fix that control handle? Thanks, David
  3. Did you fix your problem? I have a similar issue with cloudy water and a sand filter.
  4. Can someone point me to the owners manual for 26" Baqua Pure Sand Filter System. The one I have is printed and very worn making it hard to read. Thanks, David
  5. The pump has two speeds high is 3450 RPM and low is 1725 RPM. Being that I don’t have a circuit board to control the speed I am assuming that it will be stuck on low. The other pump is the same way. Here is the thing, I don’t have the money to buy a smaller pump. If I bought a smaller pump I would need to buy a smaller filter too right? I am going to have to work with what I have so I guess I'll use the 2HP since it is similar in spec to the one that went with the system.
  6. I have a small 16' above ground pool. The cheap'o pump and filter it came with died on me last year. I found a guy on craigslist that was giving away a bunch of pool stuff that included a couple filter systems. I got a hurricane system with a paper filter and a Baqua Pure 200lb sand filter system. Both include pumps, choline dispensers and filter baskets. I am planing on using the Baqua sand filter system but the pump is locked up. I have a couple options. I can use the 110V 2.5HP pump from the hurricane system which appears to run fine. Or I have a brand new in-box 220V 3.5HP pump that was meant for my hot tub that I don't need. The only issue is that the inlet and outloet are too large for the Baqua system but I suppose they make reducers. So what I am trying to figure out is if it is OK to use a Hot Tub pump on a pool. Also it is a two speed pump so I am not sure how that factors in seeing that I would probably not be able to use the high speed. I can post pics if anybody needs them. This is my New pump Executive 56 3hp, 2-Speed; 230Volt PF-30-2N22C* 3721221-1D This is the Old Pump that still works Hurricane by Jacuzzi Model S2TLMX9-S1 outlet is 1.75 ID, 2.5OD 2HP The is the sand filter Baqua Pure Interior 26" Max Flow 70 Max Working Pressure 35 Sand Weight 200 Sqft surface area 3.5 Thanks, David
  7. I found that mine was not able to keep up and I had to run it 24 hours a day. It kicked the bucket last season after only 2 seasons. All season it made a rattling noise like there were loose bearings or something. It would lock up but I could free it with a kick but it eventually locked up for good. I replaced it with a sand filter system that I got on craigslist for free but I haven't hooked it all up yet.
