  1. How would you rate sundance with: D1,limelight? What models would you recommend in the $6500-8000 range? I am looking for a lounger, 5-6 people and it will be outdoors. Thank you in advance

Personally I like D1, Caldera, Hot Spring, Jacuzzi and Sundance and all of them have spas in that $6500-8000 range so IMO you're in good shape looking at Sundance, D1 and Limelight.

All good models. When planning this make sure you have the money for electrical and concrete work if you need it. That can add more (around $2k in my case, But some of that concrete was additional work in the area around the spa and not the pad itself)

But I think it would be so worth it. Mine is being installed tomorrow and cannot wait.

Ratings (please note I am a noob so this is based on my limited research)

Both Sundance and D1 have different levels of spas. Sundance has the 880,780,680 series. D1 has the @home, & Bay and Reflections lines. Limelight is a sub-brand of Watkins/Hot Springs.

Just looking at the warranties and basic features of the different models I would rank them below: Warranty is important to me and helps be rank.. others might do it another way but I figure it is a reflection of the quality as the manufacturer would warranty a better quality tub for longer than a lesser one. And of course Price but I have no pricing information on the D1 models.

Sundance 680 / D1 @Home / Limelight are lower end and have similar warranties.

Sundance 780 / D1 Reflections are the mid range and have similar warranties.

Sundance 880 / D1 Bay are the high end and similar warranties.

Please note that this is based on a quick overview and no price information on d1 products so I could be completely off.

Based on my experience the Sundance 880 is outside your price range (unless you can get an older model). I anticipate the D1 Bay series too.

Sundance 780 / D1 Reflections probably at the high end of your price range. (I got a 780 for $7250 Out the door 2009 floor model Hamilton w/ Lounger)

Sundance 680 / D1 @ home / Limelight also in your price range and you could get a lot of features probably for that price range.

So that is how I would rank and I could be totally wrong since I didn't even consider D1 due to how far the dealer was from me.

Key items: (1) wet test to be sure the tub you like actually likes you. (2) Dealer support is very important, you should feel comfortable with them. (3) Use the search function to find comments about the models you like (4) Pay attention those who have been here a long time.

    Good luck and Happy Tubbing

Thanks for the info. I just got a price over the phone for the sundance hamilton with some extras for $7500. As far as electrical I do that for a living. I thought about digging 6" down and packing it with gravel/leveling it and placeing the tub over that. I am building a deck around the spa and leaving a hinge type door in front of the spa for service/etc. I'm not sure about haveing the deck flush or maybe 4-6 inches from the top of the spa. I'm planning on useing trex for the deck. Right now I am impressed with a dealer that sells the hot springs/limelight and another dealer which is closer to me that sells the sundance and I'm going up there this weekend to check them out. They both seem like they offer excellent service. Is it better to buy during a show??
