  1. it came to you as a 110v system and you changed it to 220v without a manual? i just hope you did not cook the board good luck keep us posted
  2. water "hardness" is an old laundry term the more calcium in the water the harder it is to make bubbles you need to have some calcium for that reason (as dig out the old N.S.P.I. book)not enough will give you etching of plaster, aggressive water, and pitting of surfaces.to much will get scale, filter calcification (turns your sand to cement)cloudy water, and more.so don't use your soft water and check your TA.so protect your investment and do proper water balance PH,TA,Cal,and TDS.don't do the smoke and mirror thing get real help go to your pool and spa dealer beware of snake oils
  3. do yourself a favour get a 230v spa pak and motor and be done with it no headaches
  4. I think it really depends on the AMP of the motors. From the Coast perspective, the 5HP, (though some will say it is less than that), it requires a 50 AMP with a GFCI breaker. Note, you also need a disconnect around 15 feet from the tub. Coast also has a 7HP, and I believe a 4HP. Perhaps you are looking at the 4HP pump. Either way, the dealer should stipulate the required breaker size before you purchase the tub. Their warranty is pending the proper wiring installation as well. Not a big deal, but just make sure they provide you the information. WHat I am finding is the cost of the electrician is damn high.. (I am in the wrong business).. I am north of Toronto, and had prices so far ranging from 1400.00 - 1700.00. Note that includes about a 100' run, but I bought my own 50 AMP GFCI outdoor box.. Ouch... if the 5hp you are talking about is what they call a "vf"(yellow)it is only a 4.4 hp over rated over priced under built and not something i would spend that much on then again i have seen coast spas dealer cost on some of the new stuff and the msrp sheets ... I have never heard someone so negative on any brand of product as you are, especially one which has more awards and industry firsts as Coast has. what firsts in the industry? the water fall is a rip off from jacuzzi the jets they use are water ways and all mid level and lower use them as i worked for a coast flaw dealer for 8 years and don't remember any award other then the one the factory gives to the dealers every year coast flaws is a follower not a leader when you get your spa take a look at the bottom of the spa pull a corner of the spa bottom and check the base you will find untreated wood and not the pressure treated that the claim also pull a panel off the side and what will you find cheap 2x2 for support are they using more than the 3 screws on the bottom of the panels and wood wedges shoved up under the spa lip?this makes the panels loose and rattle are they still daisy chaining the leds together have they got to a waterproof conectors yet or are they still wrapping them with painters tape(good protection)good luck on your spa i hope it is not a monday or friday built spa
  5. the hole on the side is for an ipod the big open space in front is the surge tank for water displacement and for the vanishing edge effectWhat's the open gap of the side for??
  6. Please be careful I have owned my passport (Freeflow Spa) for 2.5 years. Just after the two year mark right out of warranty the spas motor started grinding. Katherine Irving from Freeflow offered assistance and then denied it. I check the chemicals religiously and the tech said my spa was very clean and could not figure why my pump would go out. Despite that I was charge $95 to diagnose it was a bad pump then the local dealer took it upon themselves to order me a new pump without my permission and then installed it when I was gone and handed my wife a $500 bill without authorization. I tried to work with the owner but he refused and ripped out my pump when I would not pay the $500. After repeated calls to Katherine and Freeflow I got no assistance. The local dealer will not return my old pump and said he sent it to the factory. Why it wasent under warranty (as I was reminded many times by Freeflow staff)? Freeflow is denying they recieved it. You cant just order a pump from them either, Freeflow is horrible about returning calls. They will ignore you and say anything to get you off the phone. Be careful it doesnt seem like they even have a full time customer service staff. Dont believe me call their number you will find it on the contact page of their website and www.freeflowspas.com . I certainly hope you have better fortune than me with your spa. My spa was for my sick wife for hydrotherapy and now she is suffering from a manufacturer that does not stand behind their product. Beware! pump seals do ware out sometimes earlier that others. did you as a spa owner, protect your investment by checking the pump area once a month for leaks or water or the white crust that builds up under the wetend of the pump.

  8. first off what make of spa is it? second do you have it in economy setting?check the owners guide and try standard mode. more information will lead to more help.
  9. at that price go with the jacuzzi they are one of the best out their
  10. They are all good brands. I sell Coast, so I have an obvious bias but if you are comfortable with all 3 dealers, I would let the wet test decide. I also highly doubt that Jacuzzi will not honor the warranty if on a deck. Most manufacturers prefer concrete as it is the most solid foundation but will usually have no problem with a deck as long as it can support a certain weight per sq ft (usually around 150lbs per). yes jacuzzi does honor its warranty on a deck. i see that coast as excluded crazing from its warranty i feel that 9-15k for a tub that may be crazed in the high gloss shell right from the factory only to be told sorry for your luck a little hard to swallow(so did the people that it happened to)i have read many a coast warranty form and now a jacuzzi it would be best for the the buyer to read them not take yours/mine /or anyone else word
  11. did you ask a JACUZZI dealer? the word is out that BC is spreading bad vibes about the JACUZZI line because there product just does not compare i have seen the report that BC is using to bad mouth JACUZZI and its crap ask yourself do i realy want my spa equipment outside in the weather to rust?as for putting it up on a deck as long as the deck can support the weight no problems the negative threads about coast flaws some come from me(worked on them for 8 years and surreyguy who worked at the factory for 4 years)so be very carefull when touching coast flaws....good luck
  12. Are you not talking about the original Cascade which was introduced around 2000 or so? I think that tub wasn't a big mover for obvious reasons like limited amount of users (2) and it's price. This Niagara seats 6 comfortably or 7 at a push and the waterfall that you are referring to means that not matter how many enter the tub the water level remains the same, one feature I reckon was a big bonus. I have a question about filtration, why do all other tubs have their filter in the same water as the users? The guys who built my swimming pool also built commercial swimming pools and more interestingly Hot tubs, it was them that original steered me to Coast because like commercial Hot tubs their filters are separate. I don't know what the significance of this is but I do know that commercial tub can't have filters the normal way of most Hot tubs. it does not matter where the filter is once you open it to change the filter all that crap goes right into the spa anyways so in the spa or in its own can(they crack around the threads)changing the filter will give you the stuff you have filtered back into the spa good luck i hope you dont get a lemon
  13. What you have is what coast flaws used to call a serenity spa and they were the best looking spa a dealer would have on his showroom floor they will seat about 2with comfort and that water fall other than taking up all that room what does it do?
  14. Just because you do not approve of the company or product does not mean they are all flawed even if surreyguy's information is correct. Have you noticed that you are the only one on this forum that defends coast flaws? at least D1 and Arctic both read this and are here to help, yet you seem to be the lone voice in this wilderness. why is that or what is up with that I also don't see factory reps (not dealers) from Jacuzzi / Sundance so whats your point? I sell them, I think they are a good product just like you repair Jacuzzi and think they are a good product, which I also think they are. Not every dealer knows about this forum or may have time to post. Can't you just congratulate a customer on the purchase and wish them happy tubbin? Not For a coast flaw

  16. You should look up a guy called surreyguy and read what he has to say about coast flaws hot tubs he used to work at the factory and has some good inside information the best one is how coast had to send someone to england and somewhere else over there to fix a whole shipment of spas that had flaws right from the factory i hope its not one of those spas that you are getting good luck on your coast flaw
  17. the spa in question is a coast spa manhatten model
  18. it is not a LOUIS VITTON, it is a cheep china knock-off called vouis litton. that is how they got around all the lawyers stuff, they also use bottom end jets that can wear out early. check the pumps, if they are yellow they are only 4 hp not anywhere near the 5 the claim. if the tub is not up and running think twice. think twice anyway,it's a coast.is it a wood skirt? they need stain just about every year. the neck jets are more like ear washers then neck jets. the filter is it the 50sq ft kinda small for the size of the tub.2g for a 2008 is a screamin'deal.why?where is the nearest support for it? good luck
  19. the most common issue's that i deal with on the jacuzzi line that i now work with is people and water chemistry other that that not much being a jacuzzi tech is akin to being a maytag repair guy in the 10 months that i have been here i have done a couple of circ pumps and a flow switch i mostly fix other company's products the jacuzzi line is very good product and they have been around for 50years and are the first personal hot tubs to be made you will read a lot about spa's here type in a spa line into this forum and read up on all that you can .good luck and happy tubin'
  20. so is it Mr or Miss? either way you sure seem to want to debunk The surreyguy's post's. so why don't you tell us a little about your self? how long have you worked in the spa industry?who's product do you support?the only 4 post's that you have all seem to either support coast flaws or just bash the surreyguy.what's up with that?
  21. i used to work on coast spa yet now work for Jacuzzi i have been fixing spa's for 8 years and when i do get to open a jacuzzi it amazes me as to how well they are built and how cheap they are to run go with the jacuzzi you will be happy
  22. SPILL THE BEENS what else should the consuming public know?
  23. Surreguy has made a few comments that only someone who has inside information would know so unless you are a coast spa rep or just a flag waver you can debunk his post
  24. the shoulder/neck jets are more like ear washers
  25. Ozonator chips don't wear out but they need to be replaced or depending on the ozone the entire ozone unit will need replacement. If you use a nature2 then you can keep your free chlorine around .5 ppm on the Beachcomber. Based on company reputation and what I have personally seen with Master, I would go Beachcomber. There is a reason the Master Spa gives you more for less money. Regardless which spa you go with research the dealers because they can be as important as the spa brand itself and wet test if possible. more dealer BS ozone chips do burn out other wise replacement chips would not be needed check out the beachcomer 700 vs coast spa 2 motor thread beware of coast spa
