  1. Welcome to the forum Chris. I' sure you're going to do great things in this industry. Best- Welcome to the pool industry! Your creds should do you well. May your selling season be all you expect it to be. Cheers to many happy clients!!! Hey Chris, glad to see youre up and running! Thank you for the nice words, I must have done something right if you picked Leisure pools. Nothing but the best to you and if I get any leads on your side of town I will be sure and get them to you. Hopefully you could do the same. Have a great 2010!
  2. It will look like a big bath tub if you do not have the edge of the concrete cantilevered. The white pool will definitely be less expensive but it will also look less expensive. The best thing to do is during a sunny day go outside and stare at a white piece of paper, that will give you a feel for a white pool. Depending on the color blue you are looking at will also depend on the color of your water. Another thing to remember, just like the color of a car, the darker the hotter. A dark shell will draw free heat from the sun just as a black car does. Hope this helps and if you would like to see the different water colors in relationship to the different color shells please feel free to visit my website, www.michiganpoolsandspas.com
  3. The price is low which should be the first red flag. The biggest problem you should be concerning yourself with is why isn't the pool builder pulling the permit? You as the home owner will now become responsible for completion and compliance with your municipality. Just a suggestion, let the pool builder provide your concrete decking. If you plan on cantalevering the pools edge your concrete company needs to have experience with it's completion. Special forms are used to keep the concrete from ending up in the pool and need to be removed in a timely fashion in order to create a smooth edge. The best thing to do is always ask to see the contractors last three installations, not three referals. A clever contractor will never give you the name a an unhappy customer. Good luck in your purchase, Michigan Pools and Spas
  4. YOUR IN LUCK! Leisure Pools USA is offering an 8' deep pool beginning in April of this year. You can go to their website or on youtube and view a video of how exactly a pool mold begins. PLEASE take note of all 8' deep pools in relationship to how much "play" space you are left with. On a 40' long swimming pool approximately one third of the pool will be play space where people are able to stand, one third is allocated to the change in depth and one third will be 8' deep. Unless you really want a diving board you are limiting the usable space where volleyball and basketball can be played. I would be happy to assist you should you desire. With the options you are looking for I will be more in the mid to low $50's. You are most definitely being taken advantage of because my shell costs are the same as a Viking pool and the warranty is far superior on a Leisure pool. By the way, the company that owns Viking, Lathem, filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy last month so be careful. I can be reached at 586.601.8760 Sincerely, Bob Reynolds
  5. The Ceramic core you are refering to is on a Viking Pool who just filed Chapter 11 Bankruptcy. It is not ceramic like you think of a coffee cup. The material used to make a Viking pool's ceramic core is actually called fillite. You can see the product at www.eagerplastics.com This is a less expensive way to make the pool rather than use a higher quality resin. You should look at a Leisure pool they are far superior and not in bankruptcy.
  6. Find anyone yet? We will come to your area. You can see some of my work at www.michiganpoolsandspas.com
  7. Looking at the photos tells me a couple of things. One, no re-bar was used to tie the coping of the pool to the cement. Two, I do not see a sump crock at the deep end of the pool. You cannot control ground water without a sump crock. Three, It appears by the scum lines on the pool that it was drained down quite a ways. The beauty of fiberglass is that you do not drain any water thus not allowing for the hydro-static pressure to force the pool out of the ground. This pool is in my opinion a total loss.
