  1. Have you been using non chlorine shock? Some people are sensitive to it. Have you tried lowering the water temperature? Some people react to the hot water. I havent used any MPS or other non-chlorine shock...I also turned the water to 98 to see what would happen. Today I jumped in for about 3 minutes to pull a few broken jets out to replace...4 hours later I was all red around my mid-section!....the water is brand new too...just changed it two weeks ago.
  2. Not sure what's going on but lately if I go in my hot tub, for even just 2-3 minutes, about 4 hours later I have this red rash all over my mid section and back...doesnt show up on my legs though...it almost looks like a sunburn (nothing like a folliculitis). It goes away after a couple of days, but until that time, its itchy! I have tried chlorine, bromine (pucks and granules) and have the same result. Im thinking its some kinda chlorine allergy that developed over a couple of years since I first got my tub. It didnt start happening until about a year ago, and for the first year I was in the hottub at least 3x a week. Does anyone have a similar experience or know what I could try? thanks, jb
  3. thanks...I will investigate further...now back to scratching
  4. Can I put oils into a hot tub to prevent\lessen the dry skin and itchiness that occurs afterwards? Specifically, can I use pure coconut oil? My itch is not due to water chemistry (that has been ruled out) or to chemicals used in the water to sanitize (chlorine, also ruled out), and I dont use MPS. I can only conclude that the itch is due to a combination of generally dry skin, and moisture loss due to the hot water itself. The itch generally occurs 4-5 hours after hot tub use. Thanks, zb
  5. Just noticed that my hottub cover (2 months old) does not sit perfectly flush with my hottub...in other words, if I push on the top theres about a 1/2 inch gap between it and the lip of the hottub. Is that normal? I have a cover lifter, cant remember what kind, but its just a standard one that came with the hottub (the cover folds in half and then stands up at the side of the hottub... should i be worried about this? thanks, jb
  6. Just got a tundra legend and was thinking to put an aftermarket ozonator (like the Del MCD-50 High Output Ozonator Kit that you can get on hot tub essentials website). I was told by Arctic that it would cost me 700-800 to get one installed since drilling and jet install is required. I would have thought that rough in for the ozonator is already built-in? The ozonator kit on that website is only $200 for a good one....anyone know anything about this tub or how i could do this on my own? I have a hard time believing that it would cost $800 to add this.. thanks, jpb
