  1. Howdy - First post to forum I have a 1999(ish) Altimar that has been sitting unused this summer. Yesterday I decided to clean it up and get it started. I drained/refilled it. took the filter out, and turned on the breaker. Initially it looked like everything was working. 75 degrees on the display, heater showed on, jets/pumps/blowers seemed to work. Upon closer inspection, I found that the heater would run only if the low speed pump was on. If I shut all the pumps off, I'd get the FLO message(alternating with temp), and the heater would shut off. I left the low speed pump on and came in the house to read this forum for advice. After studying, I came the following conclusion... I probably have either a bad circulating pump, or a bad flow sensor. I'd ruled out the filter, as I did not have it installled yet. Actually, I sort of ruled out the flow sensor too, as the flow indicator goes out when the low speed pump is on (common plumbing?). Anyway, I when back out with a meter to see if I could tell for sure it was the circulating pump. I don't believe it ever came on. It took me a while to find my meter, get the cover off, etc. by then the display showed the water was 118 degrees. It wasn't of course, still cold to the touch (fresh out out of the hose), but I'm guessing no flo thru the heater, so the water in there is getting hot. Before I could get the meter on the pump, the display turned to ---- (watchdog?). Now of course there's no voltage to the pump, so I cannot confirm for sure the pump is bad.... Let it sit over night with breaker powered off. Turned it on this morning, and ---- comes right back. So... do I now have 2 problems? I still sorta suspect I need a new circulating pump, which I can easily replace on my own. However, how do I get back to a "fresh start". I would have thought that powering off for the night would clear the ---- Do I now need a new thermostat? or a new heater? Any assistance would be appreciated. ^ ^ izzicat ><
