  1. We just got our Artesian Grand Bahama w/lounge this week and we love it! The only way we had a floating problem was when we had the jets turned up on it all the way. Then we floated a little. But I got the right settings on all the jets on the lounger now and it is great! Definetly glad we got one with the lounge.
  2. I personally wouldn't put my hot tub on crushed stone pad alone. It needs to be on concrete at least from what I have heard in order for it to have longevity. You can do whatever you want, but that is my opinion. We are putting ours on our concrete pad and we have a paver patio around that. The concrete and pavers have crushed stone under them. The crushed stone is 6 1/2 inches deep. As I said do what you want, it will most likely be fine. We just didn't want to take any chances considering how expensive hot tubs are. Also I'm surprised you need a building permit for that. We didn't. I didn't even think you needed one just to put down a patio. Guess it varies state to state. Good luck and enjoy your tub! Our tub got pushed back due to shipping problems and will most likely be here next week (fingers crossed)
  3. We're using a Square D Subpanel. My bf is running the wire/conduit himself. The electrician is just going to wire it up. He said since he doesn't have to go under the house he will only charge us $100.00 for this.
  4. My tub doesn't have a dispenser I don't believe. It won't be here til possibly next week, but I don't think it does. What is the brand name of tablets you use? Thanks.
  5. In my area we could of gotten a brand new Limelight Flair with steps, cover, cover lifter, chemicals and warranty for $7000.00
  6. I want to get some of the Aromatherapy fragrances for hot tubs but I'm wondering if they will mess up the chemicals? I also want ones that don't foam at all, if that's possible. Anyone here use them? Do they mess up your chemicals? What brand do you use? I was looking at the InSparation brand they sell at spadepot.com, they are in liquid form. I was told by there live chat they won't mess up the PH or foam but I'm still leary and want your opinions. Does what type they are make a difference, ie: liquid or crystals? Thanks
  7. We are going with Bromine when we get our tub. You definetly want to keep your chemicals straight. I know all too well about the "Hot tub rash" I got one from my friends, who used chlorine, and had to go on antibiotics and had bumps everywhere for 2 weeks. Fun times
  8. Pour a pad....if you already have gravel you are two thirds of the way there...no one likes gravel in the bottom of their tub. Plus concrete is almost free right now! I agree with pouring a pad since you are halfway there. And concrete being almost free lol We just paid $250.00 for our concrete to do our pad so I hardly call that free I paid 350 for the concrete but don't regret taking your advise. The concrete pad is a small investment compared to the cost of the spa. How big is your pad? Ours is 8 1/2 by 8 1/2. We just poured it last night. The crush and run was definetly more work then doing the concrete pad, that's for sure. We ended up using 37 bags. We have 5 leftover so that was a good estimate. I poured an eight by eight pad that was six inches thick. I had some left over so I poured a pad under my meat pole where I hang my deer. I had a truck come in to make the pour which made it fairly easy. It did cost alittle bit more because it was on a Saturday and I ordered only two yards. The five tons of 2b gravel under the pad caused most of the sweat. The tub is being delivered Friday and it will be a great addition to our hunting cabin. Nice and that does sound cheap for a truck to come, makes me wonder if we should of at least checked into it. We did ours ourself. Borrowed a friends cement mixer, took about 3 hours I guess to do. And yeah the crushed stone was definetly the worst. Had to dig down like 6 1/2 inches and then put a layer, tamped it and then another layer and then tamped it again. I'm just glad we will be done this weekend. Putting a paver patio around the slab and then we are done, well except we still have to do the electrical work. My bf is running all the conduit (sp?) himself to and all the electrician will have to do is hook it up. Ours is supposed to be here in like a week and a half. Enjoy your tub
  9. It's a shame you can't do it yourself. We just got some crushed stone to put under our concrete pad as well as to do a patio around it and it was only $133.00 for the crushed stone and the sand we need for the pavers as well. The concrete we did ourselves as well, borrowed a friends concrete mixer. It was about $250.00 for the concrete, our pad is 8 1/2 by 8 1/2. Definetly cheaper to do it yourself. I don't know anything about contractors doing it, but I would definetly get other estimates if you are going to go that route. Good luck!

  12. Thanks for the input. We made a decision and ordered it yesterday. We ended up going with the Grand Bahama. We got the guy to come down to $7300 which is what we wanted to pay instead of the $7900.00. I couldn't believe he actually dropped it. We were prepared to have to go with the Flair but he went for it so we got it. He said one reason they could drop the price is because they were about to have one shipped in and could add ours to the truck so it wouldn't add on to their shipping costs which is $700.00 for the shipping. So he added it on that truck and we will get it in about 4 weeks. We got it with the Circ pump, Led lights, Waterfall, Cover, Chemicals, Steps and Delivery and setup. We got the permawood, it came standard on their tubs so it wasn't an extra cost. We didn't get an Ozone as they only have the one that will need replacement parts and we don't want that one. We don't really care that much as we should be able to do a good enough job on the chemicals. Thanks for the help guys We can't wait to get it!
  13. I'm not sure what kind of Ozone it has, I'd have to ask, never thought about that so thanks. We talked the girl down from $400.00 for the Ozone to $200.00 at the Limelight dealer, does that sound more like the price it would be? I was surprised we got her to drop it in half but she did. We did look at the Pulse but we definetly want a lounger so it was out. Thanks for the replies and keep them coming!
  14. Hi, Currently I have 2 front runners for a spa that we want to get. The Limelight Flair which we got quoted for $6999.00. It comes with the Cover, Cover lifter, Steps, Chemicals, 3 year warranty, Delivery and Setup. If we want Ozone it will be $7200.00. The Limelight Flair is standard with the LED's, Circ. Pump and a Waterfall. The Artesian Grand Bahama with the 44 jets is quoted as follows, Base Price is $7099 and that includes Cover, Cover lifter, Steps, Chemicals, 3 year warranty, Delivery and Setup as well. Then it is an extra $300.00 for Circulation pump, $300.00 for LED lights, $200.00 for Waterfall bringing the total too $7899.00. Then it would be $200.00 more if we wanted Ozone. This price is for the regular jets, not stainless and regular cabinet not the Permawood. I didn't even ask what it would be with those 2 features. Are these good prices? I'm leaning more towards the Grand Bahama as it is bigger then the Flair and I like that. Anyone own either of the tubs? Do you like them? Are they lasting you awhile? Also is a Circulation pump really more Energy efficient? Is it worth the extra money to upgrade the Grand Bahama to have a Circ. Pump? I also wonder about Ozone, is it necessary? The guy at the one store I visited actually said it will make your cover and pillows breakdown faster. I was surprised he actually tried to talk us out of it considering they would make more money, but at least he was honest. No one else told us this, is that even true? Thanks for the help
