can I put a pool salt system on my hot tub. has always been bromine. will i need other chemicals?

Hello - first post I have a 8 person older hot tub that has alway used bromine. I switched my inground pool to a compupool salt system this year ( works awesome) so I was thinking - would an above ground intex salt system work for my hot tub. I am changing the water this week so it is a good time to do it if it's possible please advise thanks Mike
