  1. I was the owner of an Arctic Spa a few years ago. I have never owned, serviced, sold, worked for, or had any relationship with any other brand so couldn't comment on them.

I had a lot of problems with Arctic Spa. 5 years later I'm still bitter, just to give you an idea how bad it was.

Needless to say I would not recommend them.

  2. Cool...it's funny you say you're a plumber from northern Minnesota but you argue like you know the history of jacuzzi and your not actually selling tubs. I will double check with people who worked for them during merger for my own knowledge but who cares, i was saying they dont have this incredibly long track record of quality product. My point was they aren't far off in quality and I like newer technology in tubs. Having seen wood framing rot and fall apart I am under the opinion steel will last longer (which seeing steel framing is newer then wood that qualifies as newer technology then wood, just like bullfrog using plastic framing) and apparently you feel differently. I am also under the opinion spray foam is over hyped and companies like arctic and Maax are correct in finding efficient ways around it...again you disagree. Oh well...good luck tj. Again my advice from beginning is go with a reputable dealer, wet test when in doubt and if the dealer is willing to stake their reputation on the line it has probably preformed well enough to keep selling and hopefully getting referrals. Maybe if you have doubts about the Maax because people like rodger don't welcome anything new, ask for customer referrals and ask them what they think and their experiences.

Having seen metal frames rust and rivets get loose and fall apart and having seen poorly insulated tubs use 2-3 times more electricity than fully foamed in tubs. Your right, if that's new technology I am against it.

Don't keep saying I am against Arctic though, you keep doing that. They are getting it closer than any other company and build a fine tub. It's funny your hyping them, they have a wood frame??? And I am not sure why you keep comparing 2 inch poorly laid out crappy insulation blankets like Maxx to Arctics up to 4 inch sprayed on foam insulation. There is no comparison there, so for the sake of an OK tub quit doing it. Your offending the Arctic owners here.

I think its important to note Roger said "Arctics up to 4 inch sprayed on foam insulation." up to is a lot diffirent than saying 4 inches.

  3. Please add me to the group of unhappy Artic owners.

One time about 10 minutes into a soak, a pipe came loose and most of the water leaked out of it in about 3 minutes. Kind of spoils a hut tub party when that happens.

Another time I go to get into the thing and I lift the cover and it 87 degrees F. Again kind of spoils a hot tub party and embarassing to say the least. Both of these incidents happened on a tub that was less than 6 months old.

I don't have enough time to describe all of the problems I experienced. It was by far the worst buying decision of my life.

  4. ANyone know how to remove the jet faces inside the tub? Just curious, as I found one jet unscrewed quite a bit... i screwed it back and am hoping no water leaked from it..... but I am now curious if the faces of the jets can be interchanged, etc.

    Thanks...

My experience with Arctic is that they just fall out.

I think they fixed that problem finally, and if you have a newer tub, you should be able to unscrew them counter clockwise.

    Good luck.

They don't "just fall out" anymore. They have corrected this and all their jets are threaded. The dealer I bought from acknowledged this was a problem a few years back but with the new jets it is a non-issue.

Like I said, my experience with Arctic is they will just fall out. When I bought my tub, I was told Arctic's are engineered for the harshest climates, only to find out later the the jets fall out when exposed to warm water. Like I also said, I think they finally fixed this problem.

Yes Salp, you should be able to unscrew the jets and exchange them even with water in the tub. Hopefully someone affiliated with Arctic will support you and answer your questions.

  5. I live in Ontario Canada, Tub is a Arctic, only warm water comes out, its super cold here and the heater rarely comes on. With the cover on the heater never turns on.????

Same here. It is piping hot when I go in with or without the jets on. The heat pump does go on when it goes beneath the preset temp...but with the cover on this may happen perhaps once a day for 5 minutes. These tubs have the best insulation bar none.

"but with the cover on this may happen perhaps once a day for 5 minutes. These tubs have the best insulation bar none." This may happen and this may not, how do you know?

  7. Good luck I hope you have a better dealer and experience with this company than we did Make certain you get firm commitments and have regular conversations with them.

My experience started similar to you. but since I bought Arctic spa tundra 2 years ago. It's been serviced 5 times, 2 motors replaced and 17 jets have popped out. I have the same problem again this weekend with motors that need to be replaced. The electric is stable and maintenance impeccable to the book. This is a bad company that does not have a good product and horrible service. The dealers in my area have gone out of business (Chicago area) with the closest one about 200miles away. I am very disappointed and would advise others to stay away from arctic spa. If looking or a chance to get out of the contract stay with a reputable company such as Jacuzzi and don't buy into the BS about operating cost, filtration, and heat control. IN the end if you buy an arctic spa the little you may save with the shell design you pay back 10 times with repairs, parts and supplies. Two of us use the spa about 30 min 3 times a week and I drain and change filters at least 6 times / year. My advice stay away from Arctic spa, you pay a premium to buy it and a double premium to keep it running

I couldn't agree more, especially with your last statement. I've spent around $1500.00 in misc. charges trying to keep mine running all the while under warranty.

  8. wow... it seems that the way they pinch a cord through the box is more common than i thought...... noarctic, are you located in edmonton? I alos noticed that my board just has a hole in it for the other wires... no black gromet like those in that picture... are the wires suppoed to be sealed with a gromet for humidity not entering the board case?....

    Salp,

I'm not in Edmonton. I've been told factory spec. does not include a black grommet for these cables in and out of the spa pack. Factory spec. does not call for the holes for these cables to be water tight. As for pinching the cable, my tub was delivered that way. Spending over $10,000.00 for a tub and this is the best they can do?

  9. Thank you Canucker, and Noarctic, nice to hear about other peoples experiences! Canucker, and Noarctic did you go with the salt water system? Noarctic did you have to pay a service fee even though your tube was under warranty?

Thanks for the input really appreciate it!

    Andrew,

I did not get the salt water system.

I did pay a service fee even though the tub was still under warranty. In fact I've paid almost $1000.00 in different fees even though the tub is still under warranty. I've also made several trips to the dealership for replacement jets, my time, my car, my gas. The tub has leaked twice, both times I fixed myself. It's never worked for more than 6 months without requiring something. You can add all these charges and inconveniences up, then you will know why, when someone asks for my opinion about Arctic, I give them one. Not wanting to sound completely negative, Arctic Corporate seems to be trying to improve their customer relations lately, just too little too late for me. Good luck with your new spa.

  10. Any help would be appreciated with opinions of these two company's as my wife and I are very new to the hot tube scene. Thanks in advance!

Hydropool 725 self cleaning and Arctic Yukon

I own an Arctic and I've had many problems with it. It's never worked for more than 6 months without having some sort of problem. It was 4-5 months late for delivery due to a " pillow fit " problem that wasn't detected before it left the factory. Upon delivery there were 2 cables installed for the same sensor, one routed correctly the other pinched between the cover of the spa pack. Why 2 cables for the same sensor on delivery day? This sensor has since been serviced. It recently leaked due to a splice in the plumbing. This splice had no glue or mechanical fastener. When I pushed the plumbing together it required very little effort and was obvious to me that it would not stay together without some help. This tub isn't even a year old.

On a more positive note, the manufacturer seems to be taking a more proactive approach to customer service than I've seen in the past.

  11. Also the person who had a problem with Arctic service -- if there was a problem with service, there must have been a problem with the spa -- I'd like to know what it is...

I'd like to know too, so that I can follow up with the dealer involved and see if any issues can be resolved. But read on...

I've had a really poor experience with Arctic. The tub has had numerous problems and the dealer support has been lousy.

Please PM me with your name and the serial number of your Arctic Spa.

We try to follow up on any customer issue and I have to treat any post as legitimate until proven otherwise.

However, haven't heard from this poster yet. I begin to suspect a troll or a shill.

I've sent you my serial number a couple of times. Here it is again. A08CX112763 Looking forward to hearing from you so we can discuss what I consider lousy dealer support and some of the many problems I've had with my spa.

    Thanks

  12. I await your return. Once I have your serial number I will dig into the issues you have presented here. How old is the spa, if I may ask, as we have not used that pump for some time?

    James

Thanks again for your concern James.

My serial number is A08CX112763. You will find quite a history with this tub.

Hopefully you will contact me offline and we can discuss your sincere offer to change my opinion of Arctic Spa and the local dealer.

    Thanks

  13. I'd stay away from both

I own an Arctic and never again, lots of problems with the tub and terrible dealer support.

Could you send me your name and serial number? Maybe I can look into the issues and help improve your opinion of us. Thanks

    James,

Thanks for your concern. Hopefully this wont get deleted before you get a chance to see it.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you and any others. I'm currently on vacation and I don't have access to my serial number but will respond in more detail when I return.

I have some pictures on my camera of my Arctic and will try to post them, just to prove I'm not a shill.

    Picture1.jpg

This should show how they mounted a motor that was replaced.

    Picture4.jpg

This is showing some white residue on the motor they didn't fasten down and has only been in the spa a couple of days. I don't know why the residue but suspect a leak or a previous leak and this motor has been used, rebuilt, and then installed in my tub.

    Flocable.jpg

This picture shows how a cable is routed not through the protective grommet but inched between the control electronics box cover.

    Heatloss.jpg

This shows how well some of the covers fit on this spa. Got heat loss???

    Strippedscrew2.jpg

This shows multiple holes for holding the cover on. Got more heat loss???

I have other complaints as well but have only limited time now.

    Thanks for your patience.

  15. I am experiencing corrosion issues with the metal cabinet on my Summitt Ultra Arctic Spas hot tub delivered in March of2 005. Paid extra for the cabinet and now they want to spray mine with a a rubber product similar to the product that is sprayed in the box of pick-up trucks.

Are there other owners out there experiencing this problem and have you had any luck communicatiing your warranty concerns and resolution with the manufacturer's warranty rep?

My tub was replaced for this very same reason, even though it was under warranty, it cost me about $600.00 in misc. charges for them to replace it. I was disappointed, because like you, I paid extra for something they sold as maintenance free and as soon as it needed maintenance, I got to pay extra again.

I thought the charges were excessive but the jets were falling out left and right at the time and I thought to pay it and be done with both problems.

I'm not sure why they would treat you differently.

    Good luck!

  16. Hi, we have a summit legend extreme and LOVE it, the spa is very comfortable and the jets are great on the back. We got ours with the Onzen, and I would recommend not paying for this upgrade, if they add it to the deal for free then take it, but they are having issues with the electrodes getting calcium build up on them and they have to be replaced regularly.

Owning an Arctic spa has been very disappointing. I've had several problems with my spa and it's cost over a thousand dollars in service fees, travel charges to get the issues resolved while still under warranty.

In an effort to find something positive to say, I would agree with the above post that the seating is very comfortable.

Good luck with your spa search.

I would like to know what personal attack I posted, that is too funny!!!! Do not remember a personal attack, maybe me talking about all the problems about my spa was a personal attack to Blue Falls Mfg. co. because they won't address the issue..

Oh, I get it now, I posted the name of the person who is Vice President of Sales of Blue Falls Mfg. and let everyone know in this forum about how he has not returned 4 phone calls and 4 e-mails in 2 weeks. I also named the guy in the Warranty Dept. of Blue Falls Mfg. and told everyone in this forum about his lack of response after 2 weeks of phone calls and e-mails. So, If I posted something that is true it is a personal attack. Someone tell me how to post pictures and my warranty card with 22 warranty issues on it and you will see that I am telling the truth, OH??? That may be a personal attack, that's O.K., If I am not cursing and just being sarcastic and telling the truth whatever, I will just keep on posting in the other forums who want to get to the truth. Who's running this board Arctic Spa's????

Amen brother. You nailed it right on! This has been my experience with Arctic Spa, Blue Falls and I couldn't agree more!
