  1. Hi - please can you help suggest the best places to advertise a second hand Endless Pool for sale? We've put a small ad in Private Eye where Endless used to advertise - but where else would a good number of potential UK buyers see an ad please? Thank you for your help. Details of it are here. Best rgds timswf

I am kinda interested in your endless pool. I am in Clacton-on-Sea Essex not far from you. At the moment I have an American Hot tub and would like to move up to a swimpool with current machine. Have you still got it for sale?

    Regards Carol.

  2. Acccording to their website the product needs to be used with an ionizer, ozonater and/or chlorine (all santizers). They even supply chlorine with their system so their claim of chlorine free is dubious at best! It is obviously not an EPA approved sanitizer since they include chlorine with it. I suspect it is an enzyme based product since they say not to use it within 6 hours of shocking and that is pretty standard for enzymes. Enzymes help digest organics in the water but they are not sanitizers. They can be useful products to use in conjunction with a standard sanitizing system to help reduce sanitizer demand but are not necessary for easy spa maintinance. I could find no MSDS nor ingredient listing for the product.

There is nothing in my instruction leaflet that says anything to suggest shocking It says to put in once a week a measured 22ml [correct amount for my tub] and you can use tub straightaway, which i have done. The chlorine tablet goes into dispenser in filter to feed the filter. The product seems well researched and myself/family/friends have had no adverse reactions ie rash, bugs or anything. My point really is that the simplicity of the product seems to be a winner because you don't need to do any readings or checking whatsoever. I have read so much about the problems that some owners have ie too much chlorine....too little etc. etc. and as a new tub owner, I have escaped all these problems. The first 3mths with this water is nearly up and the water has been crystal clear all the time with a lovely lavender smell. I have yet to see any disadvantage in it except of course it is more expensive, but surely it's worth it to be hassle free.

  3. Wonder how this gal found the forum

I hide no secrets. I bought my spa off of auction. ebay UK, like lots of people are now doing here. It was brand new in all the packing. Paid £3000. It's got all the widgets. It was made in USA, imported here and was sold to me via ebay, from a dealership that lives about 15miles away. We collect them ourselves on trailers, or flat bed lorries that you can hire out, they are forklifted on by the dealer, then we get about 8 friends to help unload and put in position. It's not difficult. It's a super tub, really top quality and I knew other people who had bought them. I will not mention the name in case I am accused of advertising, but there's a whole list of buyers and their comments on the net for anyone to read. We all use Aquafinesse which was supplied as a 6mth start up...I think to promote the product, and in the hope that we purchase more when needed. It's a great promotion deal and so far knocks spots off of any other spa or chemicals.

In answer to your question of how I found you, I like millions...and I mean millions.....just typed into google, "spa forums and advice" and up pops your name with plenty others. People tap into google all sorts of things. So before you buy a product, you need to read and understand the subject, whether it be from horses to hymns, boomerangs to bottoms! google has it all and everyone here in the UK is reading all the stuff out there on offer. People might say, ah, but what guarantee have you got when your 1-2yrs runs out,..... the guarantee is what you see and read, it's a great tub...good USA product, no problems at all and for£2000- £3000, if it last a few years, what the hec, who really wants to pay for a lifetime guarantee! Anyway is that the lifetime of the dealer, the tub or maybe......... You? Has your plasma tv got lifetime guarantee?

If a pump or heater should go wrong, then they aren't dear to replace, the tub is fibreglass.....boats that sail the sea for years and years are made of fibreglass, so in comparision, the tub in your garden is getting light use!

Guys get real, don't pay the earth for something that is really a basically made product ie a large bath... with a posh name. I own a successful business myself, [nothing to do with tubs by the way], and I know the rules of marketing. You can pay a little for alittle, you can pay alot for alot and you can pay alot for alittle but you can with research and knowledge pay a little for alot. So likewise...wheel and deal with those dealers! :)

  4. Hi All,

I am just getting started with a SPA and don't know much.

I found CleanWater Blue chemicals but don't know how they are. http://www.spadepot.com/Merchant2/merchant...egory_Code=Kits

    Any comments/suggestions?

Seems like there are tons of chemicals available and every website says theirs is the best. Will appreciate if you have any suggestion for other chemicals.

Thanks for your help in advance.

I have been using Aquafinesse in my tub...which is chlorine/bromine free. Just a measured cupful in each week. It does apparently contain a sanitiser. I also use the ozonater each day. Clean filters each week. However, in the kit is also supplied a chlorine tablet + dispenser to put in the filter basket. There is no testing whatsoever required. The method is simplicity itself. Perfect clean, nice smelling clear soft water. This may sound as though I am trying to sell the stuff, I truly am not, I had 6mths supply with my new tub. 3mths on and I can't fault it and so I can't understand why more owners don't use it. Is there a reason that I don't know about.

  5. After each use of my tub of course I have to add dichlor, but also my pH reads 8 or above so I have to add pH down and in turn I have to add TA up because of the chemical I am adding to lower my pH. I run my CH around 180-200. Is there anything I can do to lower the chemical usage? Is this normal for the pH to shoot up after each use? After I do threatment my water stays pretty much dead on until the next time I use it.

I am wondering about a pH lock but you cannot use it if CH is 150 ot above. If you drop your CH to use this doesn't it increase your chances of scale or deposits on the heating element?

You won't get much help on this forum, Duck Man, because they only want to sell their spas. I notice you have only had one reply so far, and no advice whatsoever! Sorry I can't help you, but my new spa came with 3mths free supply of chemicals, which is Aquafinesse. So far it is proving faultless. No testing of the water ph or anything. It is kind to the skin and your tub and equipment. No, I am not an agent for this product, I have no interest in the selling of the product at all. I only use it....one cupful in the tub each week that's all you need to do. I suggest you give it a try for 3mths.....actually I have worked out that mine will last nearer 5mths. as it depends on the capacity of the tub. Mine is 1150 uk litres. I think your wife and family will like the softness and gentleness of the water. :)

  6. My! My! What a ding dong is going on here! I have just purchased a lovely new hot tub from a very reputable company here in the UK and am glad I did not get it from any of you dealers. This remark is not intended to be derogatory to anyone in particular but is just an observation and an eyeopener into what appears to be the shady world of spa wheeling and dealing.

You may not have thought how much damage your rantings are making on the spa scene.

More and more people are considering becoming hot tubs owners and so this forum is being read my millions of people across the world . I like Paintsunni am new to "hot tubbing" and, moreover, like many new owners were hoping this site would offer some honest, genuine unbiased advice, however, we as readers are having a peep into a very dodgy and contrived forum and are also taking note of various spa manufacturers and dealers that are playing perfidious and crooked games with our hard earnt money.

I feel this is doing the spa business alot of harm, in particular certain mentioned spas on these postings. If their engineering is anything like their command of the English language, then...........draw your own conclusions.

    Sellers beware..........Public be aware!

  7. Again, Paitsunni.

When you first started posting you claimed to be a relatively new pas owner and in your own words, "no spa expert." How then do you know all this info and refuse to disclose your occupation or credentials in the spa industry. Either way, whoever you are, you have no credibility after people read your rants. Quit attacking people and go learn what "facts" are.

  8. I use one during the colder months here in Northern Minnesota but I leave it off for about 6 months of the year. Only because it's kind a pain to remove it and replace it so I opt to just leave it off for the summer.

However it is a good investment for a couple reasons, it does reduce heat loss through the top, and it saves and maybe extends the longevity of your hard cover. It , I think also, allows your sanitizer to work in the water longer.

Yes, that is another benefit, it increases the life of your sanitizer and evaporation is almost negligible.

Actually the blanket came intentially in two quite long wide strips, which you cut to fit your tub. You then overlap the two strips, mine overlap about 18". I cut out an area where the filter is to allow free flow of water to filter and saved the piece I cut out, which I replace at night [if i remember] to save a bit more heat!

Because the blanket is in two strips, this is really easy to remove, it just rolls up in seconds and I stand it in plastic tub. It is intended to adhere to the underside of the main tub cover as well, but this attracts dust and leaves which I try and avoid.

  9. I got it from The Little Yellow Duck Company@blueyonder.co.uk. It was £38. They advertise on ebay. As far as I could find out they are the only company that actually have these blankets in stock. I went into Google to check this out and try and find a cheaper source. Castle Hot Tubs in UK cut them to order and wanted £75+vat + 2wks wait. I thought I might be able to get this 5mm closed cell foam [which is what the Yellow Duck Co describe] from some industrial factory for a much cheaper price, but was unsure as to what it actually was and didn't want to introduce something dodgy into the spa water.

  10. I have recently bought a closed cell foam thermal blanket for my tub and straight away it has made an immence difference. The heat loss is reduced very significantly, maybe as much as 50%, in time I will have a more accurate figure. The condensation on the underside of my main tub cover is almost eliminated, which means it is drier to handle and when off the tub, dust and leaves do not attatch themselves to it as much. I am on a budget and need to reduce the running costs to the minimum. I think the blanket is well worth the small initial outlay. Surprisingly however, I do not hear about many people using these blankets, am I missing something somewhere?

  11. Great. Not sure I am visualizing how you did it exactly.

When you say wooden fence posts, I am thinking pressure treated 4x4s, which are square. Is that the case? Where does the "rolling" come in?

What we have here are round wooden posts/logs, approx 3"-4" dia. as well as making fences are used to stake young saplings to. Tub rolls well on these.
  12. I would say try to get 6+ guys. I did it with 6 and it wasn't bad (took like 20 min.). I got 3 8' wooden stockade fence posts and put them under the tub and just rolled it to my deck in the back yard. I was surprised how heavy the tub was as it was my first time trying to move it myself. Since last year 2 of my friends have got tubs online and with each one we get better at moving them. Also be careful moving the tub. The frame of the tub is very solid but the pretend wood around the tub looks like it would break pretty easy. Don't forget the beer and pizza or burgers. Good Luck.

Yes, thats how I moved mine, works really well, like pulling a boat up the beach, only need 3 wooden fence posts, don't be tempted to use 4 because it's a real job getting the fourth one out when tub reaches it's correct position.

  13. Hi Roger,

I bought the spa couple of months ago.. on Ebay.. it's brand new and is imported from America into England...As said before I know nothing about hot tubs It has no make, brand or model on it. But I hope it comes good. 2.1mtrs square, hold about 280 english galls. 5kw heater, 3x1.500watt pumps & all the other widgets you could ask for, bought it cheap on a whim (himself says I must have been drunk] .. himself can't stand water ...I managed to get it home on a borrowed trailer and with the help of some kind friends, unload it,and shove it into position on the patio ....got an electrician to wire it in..three core armoured cable under ground to tub, isolater switch and all that.... I then filled it up and popped in Aquafinesse..a new Scandinavian product, which has no cholrine or brom. in it, you just put a measured amount in each week, no testing of anything, and hey, so far its working. Saw that on Ebay as well! Not cheap mind you, but what the heck! {I'm no chemist and can't cope with ph's or whatever you call them!} I then pressed HEAT on the control panel and 4hrs later climbed in. {I still haven't fathomed out the darn controls.} Had all the pumps running at first, it was like a cauldron, nearly drowned myself!... Now all I have to do is clean out the filter each week, pop it back with a special tablet in the dispenser basket in with the filter, then add another cup of magic!

Now so far.....I emphasize so far....everything is fine.....clear soft hot water, my skin has never been so soft..... heaven ... I've always dreamed of owning a spa and now my dream has come true...I sit in it alone each night just looking at the stars..............thinking......

  14. No it's not for packaging and it should NOT be removed my dear! The pleats need to remain stiff to filter properly though you are correct...it does make it a bit more of a pain to clean.

Sometimes we just reckon wrong! :P

Many thanks Steve for your reply, good job I couldn't find the scissors, I'm learning fast here, great forum

Will soon be back with more dumb questions.

  15. I'm new to this game, so can anyone help. My filter, usual concertinared sort, has a thin plasticy band fastened around the middle if it. Is this just for packing convenience, should I have snipped it off. I cannot hose the filter properly with this band round and i reckon it has prevented the filter working properly.

  16. Spa babe, what brand/.model/ year tub do you have? How has your tyb performed in past cold conditions?

Ah! thats the big question! I have just bought the spa ..it's brand new and is imported from America into England...I know nothing about hot tubs, but learning alot from these forums. It has no make, brand or model on it. But I hope it comes good. 2.1mtrs square, hold 260 english galls. 5kw heater, 3x1.500watt pumps & all the other widgets you could ask for, I only got it a couple of months ago on EBAY, on a whim (himself says I must have been drunk] .. himself can't stand water ...I managed to get it home on a borrowed trailer and with the help of some kind friends, unload it,and shove it into position on the patio ....got an electrician to wire it in..three core armoured cable under ground to tub, isolater switch and all that.... 17. It sounds like the louvres are intentionally provided by the hot tub manufacturer for ventilation. Since you apparently have a 'full foam' type of insulation, if you plug up the louvres you would block off the cooling for your pump motors. The pump motors I have seen are usually about 1 or 2 hp so they generate a lot of heat and that heat needs to be removed or they overheat and fail.

I did something like this with my hot tub and I was a little worried about the pumps overheating but my tub has a different type of insulation method in which the pump cabinet thermally encloses both the pumps and the hot tub shell. This means that the relatively large thermal mass of the water in the tub moderates the air temperature in the cabinet so that the pumps can't overheat as long as the water temperature remains constant because the heat thrown off by the pump motors is absorbed by the water in the shell. In your tub, though, the foam thermal barrier would prevent that from happening.

Bottom line is that I don't think you should plug up those louvres.

Thankyou very much for the reply, I take on board your advice and understand what you say, I will leave the louvres open to be on the safe side. :)
  18. I'm a complete newbie to hot tubs, and so know very little, but am also interested in extra insulation inside cabinet. However my wooden cabinet has a small vented louvre area on three sides, I suppose to allow airflow to pumps. Would insulating the remaining area be a waste of time, bearing in mind cold air can flow through the louvres. {I do have thick sprayed foam on the tub thank goodness}
