  1. Go through some of the post regarding onzen and Arctic Spas, this might help you with your decision. Good luck.
  2. Even with the pump not working the genesis system still comes on, because it doesn't know that the pump isn't pushing water. I can't really see that the elctrode would be damaged from this, because it's still changing polarity and not letting the build up happen. Unless the stagnet water inside the electrode tubing becomes so concentrated with bromine, that it could start to eat away at the electrode. Kinda of a theory. Also another thing to check is to make sure that the controller box is illuminated when the pump is on low. The genesis system should come on everytime that pump #1 comes on for either heating or filtration. With the Arctic I believe they have the plug and play style controller box, were you plug the pump into the controller box and plug the controller box into the slot where the pump would plug into the Spa pak. This is the reason why the controller box would still be giving power to the electrode, due to the Spa pak still sending power for the pump, even though the pump was dead. Hopefully this makes sense. To test your phosphate levels, their is a tester you can buy at most hot tub dealers. The phosphate are damaging to the metal items in the plumbing line, i.e your heater, your heater tube, the seals on your pumps and of course your electrodes for your salt cell. So keep these in par for better life span of your equipment and salt system.
  3. I keep seeing about wet testing but its always one with water and its always the 6-7 seater, I did wet test a big size but thats not the model im buying. The Bullfrog is nice, but for me, the one you stretch out in was to small for my left leg and still use the left leg jets, other than that it is a nice spa. I will check out the marquis spirit, see if anybody close sells it. Keep the info coming, Thanks again, Rick I have a 8 year old jetsetter and it works perfect and still looks as good as when they delivered it. I would say jetsetter I've had two Hot Springs, one Classic and my current Jetsetter which is about 12 years old. No problems, just one heater replacement. With that type of reliability and my personal experiences, I am biased toward you buying the Jetsetter. Good luck with whatever you choose, Randy The Bull Frog tub is one of the better designed hot tubs I have found out their. With the options of the jet paks and you able to pick if you tub is going to be a 10 jets or a 40 jets, as well as upgrading a bullfrog down the road. Once you have a bullfrog you can buy new jet paks down the road and have a tub now with waterfalls on it or have your tub have neckjets. These all come on the jet paks. Any other tub you have to trade it in to get these features added on. The bullfrog even has that capablity with a stereo. Most hot tub companies have the speakers pop up from the tub. With the bullfrog you can buy a door with the stereo on it and plug one wire in and your done. This spa is the type of spa that will last and you can upgrade to keep it fresh. The bullfrog was designed by a service tech. that has been in the industry for many years. It's built smart. All the manifolds and most of the plumbing lines are on the jet paks, which make any repairs simple or if it does leak, it leaks back into your spa, unlike other tubs were it will leak empty. And yes their is a hose that shoots water in behind the jetpaks to keep the water moving and clean.
  4. You can go from Chlorine to Bromine but you can't go back without draining your tub and starting over. So if your using chlorine and want to use bromine instead you don't have to change your water, but if your using bromine and want to switch to chlorine then you have to drain the tub. I'm not sure the actual chemical reaction with this, but all I do know is that your water would turn to a white milky colour.
  5. Actually the ones that emit a light are the UV type The generator in Onzen is a corona discharge (CD) type. They have an indicator light that comes on when the generator is operating, I believe (though the earliest models did not have this if I recall correctly). I confess to being out of the loop since my move to the IT Dept. so if this is not right I hope one of the Arctic dealers will speak up and correct me. The ozonator only comes on when the tub is in filtration cycle. So if you don't have the tub in filtration cycle, then you won't see any light.
  6. Hi there, The Genesis sytem comes with a 5 year manufacturer warranty. Always the issue with the warranty for your salt cell will be water chemistry issue, was your ph levels fine and phosphate levels good as well. This is just ways for them to try and not get it covered under warranty. With the salt cell on your genesis system, you would want to take a look at the cell for yourself. It should be installed with a clear piece of pvc so you can do a visual inspection on it. If you see a serious amount of calicum build up on the one side of the salt cell, this would be an indication that the controller box is not changing polarity and which would cause the salt cell to go. If this is the case you would need to replace your controller box as well your salt cell. Their should be a + or a - in front of the number on the controller. It will change from + to - every 5-10mins to prevent any build on one of the cell, as the calcium would build up on the electrode that is always positive charge. Alot times the issues with the salt cell could also be with the installation. The salt cell should be horizantal with the floor or at an angle were the salt cell should be angled a little bit down. The discover now with the genesis system is that the air bubbles that were getting trapped in the salt cell would be corrsive to the electrode and casue it to fail and give you a black ring along the inside of your tub and turn your filter black. (it is normal for your filter to turn slightly grey and this is called dusting form the salt cell). The onzen system just came out to Arctic spas appx. within 2 years now or so. The feedback from that has been good to none. Just because it's kinda of new we don't know what's some common issues are for it, like your genesis system. Bottom line is you shouldn't be paying for the salt cell as it should be under warranty unless they try to blame you for the improper water chemistry and the call out charge is normal as the manufacturer will give the dealer a hourly wage for the repair and replace the part but the manufacturer will not pay for the drive time. If the genesis system is working for you, then I would stick with it .
