  1. Paint:I think that dealers would have alot more respect if the best, non negotiable price was posted. Car dealers such as Saturn, Nissan, Kia and even Lexus are starting to emerge with this strategy rather the underestimate the consumers ability to figure out value on a spa. The consumer can easily place a value and having a firm price along with knowledge of the product allow the consumer to make his choice with the dignity and respect not often allowed.

Your last line is the kicker. If there is a concern for pricing spas on the floor, it's that 99.9% of consumers have never owned a spa and can't determine value easily.

It takes some work, asking the right questions and dealing with someone whom has your best interest at heart to gain that knowledge. Unfortunatley, there's always going to be people that associate the cheapest spa with the best or greater value and as most of us know, that's rarely true.

I understand what you're saying, I just have such a tough time with this "doom & gloom" you portray with salespeople and retailers in general. It's just not remotely accurate. As I've said countless times...this industry is far to competitive to allow that.

    Nuff said...

The price of a home is plain and listed. a lot of people are first time buyers not haveing owned a home, a plasma tv, cell phone, computer ect....give the consumer a break, they can figure it out rather the sit through a sales pitch just to get a price, reminds me of a time share membership that holds you hostage to the presentation when you just wanted a price. do you need the guy at sears to not show the price of a riding mower as a lot of people have no experiance in purchasing one...good greif!

  2. Gentlemen, if each of you is happy with your purchase, and is convinced that it was the best choice for you, what is there to argue about? You're both right.

As for durability and the effects of weathering -- time will tell. Please come back to this topic in 5 years, post photos in a poll, and we can all vote. :D

I hate to say this in fear of getting bashed but, I thought Artic charged more for non wood panels with one option being metal? Every manufacturer without exception that I looked at charged more for vinyl. It is not a one hour job a year to do properly when you include washing with a mildewcide prepping the spa and surrounding area. Most people don't have the ability to discard the used stain or leftover mineral spirits from cleaning up the brushes properly when done...Please don't tell us you simply throw out everything in the trash or pour out the product and mineral spirits. That is not ok to do anymore according to the E.P.A. Dealers don't share that with the customer. The E.P.A. has almost eliminated oil based paint in general on the interior of new construction and also affects industrial coatings in order to be more invironmentlly friendly. New homes are useing Vinyl to comply with the "Built Green" environmntal guidlines thus making stains and oils not the product of choice in todays climate.

  3. Wading through the slop once again...

First base is just kissing right? I strongly urge dealers NOT to do that.

You didn't write THE book on hot tubs Jimmy...you wrote a "pamphlet"! Let's not over sell here and posture more than you need to….you may break a hip while flexing!

I believe that prices should be on the spas and I recommend my dealers show their price everyday. I also don't recommend leaving room for negotiating either. Show your best price or show nothing. [/quote

  4. Oh now that's interesting paint. You say you have an excuse to be here. And what is that? Because it may be your job to be here? Maybe you're employed by Costco or Hydrospa? Cmon, just between you and me, confess. No one else will know!

Oh, by the way, just sold another policy (tow truck operator) and just made $500. About 30 minutes work. And yes, Guzz, I think I'll start celebrating tonight in my Tundra with wife and kids. You do the same!

So you are like a spa salesman ripping off a consumer...I got your number!

I use online for all my insurance and cut out commision thus lowering my cost for coverage, you just reminded me why! Thanks :o

Hope your ok with Arctic getting a few grand off you over the invoice, but I guess your used to that....

All jabs aside, have a good thanksgiving.

  5. You see paint? Your gig is up and everyone on this site knows it. Do you enjoy being made a fool - by yourself with your own posts? When people catch up on some of these threads and read some of your last few posts here and elsewhere, they are going to be scratching their heads, asking what you've been sniffing. Maybe too much paint?!! Give it up already.

By the way, Term, where in the world do you get some of your artwork? Certainly not here at our Art Institute! I guess being in this biz as long as you have, you collect a lot of weird stuff. And funny stuff too!

Looks like you and wes!!!! Sell any policies today? Didn't think so! :o

  6. Sounds like you prefer 'real' wood rather than synthetic wood panels. That's fine. My experience where I live is that 'real' wood is a lot of work to maintain and requires frequent replacement so I would pay extra for imitation wood made out of some rot-proof material. When I built a little deck structure around my new Platinum Elite II, I used 'Trex' decking for that reason, which was quite a bit more expensive than 'real' wood options like cedar or pressure-treated wood decking, but well worth it to me. Judging by the sales success of Trex (and clones of it), at least in my area, I am not the only one. Here's a link to their website for anyone interested:

    http://www.trex.com/

Your comment about a 'costco' warranty is ridiculous. The warranty for the Platinum Elite II hot tub is from Hydrospa, not Costco. I suppose Costco would let you return it so you can incorrectly call that a 'warranty' but if something ever fails on the hot tub, I would rather fix it than return it. The PE2 hot tub is a REALLY nice hot tub. Your statement about "the risk of all the problems people have had with them IMO" is utter nonsense.

I agree totally! That is why I purchased The Elite spa.

  7. Now now paint, I think it's time for you to lay down. You are posting so quickly on so many threads that you are getting mixed up. You posted the above also on "Spa Prices" but it has no relevance here. Now would you please answer the 2 questions I have nicely asked of you above? Thank you.

I am not takeing the bait

  8. Our spas range from $2995 to 10,600.

That price includes delivery, set-up, orientation, watercare kit, 220V sub-panel when applicable, peace of mind, and service after the sale for 5 years on parts and labor with NO deductible.

If you get a doctor's prescription, you do not have to pay tax on a spa in the Great State of Texas.

    Terminator

what spa would you have to offer the consumer at the 4k to 5k range?

  9. Could someone give me the current price of a round trip ticket to Moscow? First class of course!

Wes!!! Silly!!!! $1600.00 O hare to moscow!!!! Thats my point! I dont need a salesman , BTW Your over your limit on your card :o:o

Why are prices on spa so secretive? not much else is including insurance.

  10. Readers of this forum can now see that all paint likes to do is ASK inarticulate questions and make meaningless comments about the Costco/Hydrospa brand and not face up to ANSWERING simple questions like the one I posed a few posts ago. In addition, he has NEVER answered the question I have waiting for him on the thread, "Hydrospa Omni vs Hydrospa Platinum II". We are all waiting for you paint! [/quote

  11. BLAAAAA... ;) That's so fricken gross.... If you're having people over for TG, let them know that body fluids, hair, urine, sweat and Gawd knows WHAT else runs in the same appliance that cleans your dishes! It'll make for wonderful conversation over dinner!

    I'm going to puke now...back l8tr...

I can see your point but dosen't your machine sanitize your dishes? most do.

  12. *****BOARD VIOLATION*******

Article 69, Section II- It is a violation of the rules of this forum to discuss ANY subject that does not include HydroSpa

You, sir, stole Fizzy Lifting Drink, you bumped into the ceiling which now has to be sterilized, you violated the rules so you get NOTHING!

Terminator (The ALWAYS Obedient and Rule Abiding)

Thanks for clarification  The subject isn't wood sidding but rather Hydrospa.

  13. Ever get the idea you should take a reading comprehensive class? My post did not even reference your beloved product! Where do you come up with these thoughts? Contributors must read your posts and think about your sanity. Just so you're clear, I was discussing wood subject matters with NW, not Hydrospa tubs!

I didn't reply to you! Can you read?

  14. Hi all,

Does the above Spa come with Twin Speakers ? I have managed to turn one slightly in one corner and it pops up but the one in the opposite corner refuses to move. I am fearful of twisting it too hard and damaging it just in case it`s a false speaker. I would appreciate any advice.

    Thank you

    65A SULZER

He who asks a question is a fool for 5 minutes !

The speakers pop up when you push slightly down If I recall and they do not rotate all the way around but come to a point in which to remove them...I'd call costomer service and ask before I would force the speaker tower, might be grit in the tower?. You should also be able to look at the speaker from underneath by removing the panel below and removing the insulation panel.... Call first.

How has the spa worked over all for you? are you happy with it ?
