  1. keep looking. I would look at spas that are around the three to five thousand mark to see what you will get. I think you will be surprised at the similarities and also the huge cost desparity vs value in what you will see. I would check out a few box stores as well just to get a Idea of what a baseline non commisioned spa will go for and the features it offers. Take your time and look at lots of brands.

  2. wow! what a horror story. I would be upset to say the least. Can you return the spa on the basis it is not the spa you made the del n as the serial numbers dont match. I bet if it was financed the contract woud be null and void as they loaned money on a different spa. I would lean on getting the deal reversed and get a new spa or cash back as their attitude sucks and they dont deserve your sale.

  3. I am not sure why your bill is running that high. My highest bil on my P.E.II has been 45 dollars and that's keeping it up to temp and I have no clue as to what filter cycle it is set at. I did run a " foam rope" ? around the top of the spa to seal the gap between the spa lip and synthetic siding, I did leave the equipment bay door area open for fesh air for pumps however. I do plan on installing thermal foil panels that are a bit thicker then the half inch styrofoam panels it came with just for fun.

  4. I have yet to see my P.E.II cost more then 45 dollars and it stays at the normal setting with the circ pump on twenty four hours. I belive that the circ pump needs to run in order to keep the spa to temp without running the jet pumps 1,2 and 3. my worst bill was last momnth but that also had record cold weather in that month. I wonder if your jet pumps are set to go on more then the minimum setting. I think you can adjust the filter set times. I m not at home but believe it is to push the twmp down arrow then the mode button to desired setting? I'll check when I get home. Also note my neighbor has a hotsprings preodigy which ran 38 dollars according to him vs my 45 dollars..... Hopefully you ill find whats wrong.

  5. I don't think people on here are bashing the PE II necessarily, it's the people who think that the value tub they got (I lump the PEs, Keys Backyard, and Gulf Coast type spas together as they are all pretty close IMO in quality) is the same as one of the higher end tubs. With comments like I just saved 4,000 dollars and got a spa that was just as good.

I think that most of the people on this site give very fair opinions on different topics and they just want to help people. Clearly in some cases there are biases (on both sides) but it pretty easy to see what they are after watching the site over time, having said that there is also a core group on here that I really respect their opinions. It cracks me up to see someone who has about 3 weeks of experience owning a tub telling a guy who has worked on tubs most of his life that tub a is just as good as tub b or part a is the same as part b. When for the most part they are just regurgitating marketing jargon.

I personally find the back and forth quite entertaining and think each side is equally to blame for fanning the "flames" and I do think there are a few people on this board that I question their motives as they seem a little over the top in promoting the PE to the point of sending me private messages telling me how great the PE II is.

I honestly don't understand why people would even care if someone on a message board said they didn't like spa X.

What is funny is even the core group of people don't know what sets there better spa apart! Roger admits he has never worked on a Elite Spa so his opinion is just that, a opinion. Most of the core group are either salesman, dealers, repairman rather then just a everyday user. The core people are asked to explain why the Platinim Elite is a "value" spa or what parts are less quality the answer is always the same..They don't know. :o:o

  6. My wife and I seriously considerd the Clearwater spas as we felt they had great features for the price. If you look at the Platinum Elite spas you will find the same controlls, pumps and spa pac as clearwater as well as the same type of insulation. I had planned on buying the 8100 series which is a seven foot tub had I not seen the Costco spa. I think you will enjoy the jets and trouble free no frills but quality build that Clearwater offers.

  7. I understand but remember that the P.E. I cost $3500 and the P.E.II cost only $3999.00. If they only last half of what a "great spa" cost then you recieved the same value of the more expensive spa. So once the P.E. I last seven years, then it will meet your test of value. Anything beyond seven years is a great value then.

  8. Another option the We did wa to use 5/8 minus crushed rock with fines(sand) after we removed sod and leveled area. After the roch was leveled and compacted, we then used 16x16 pavers and that was about $250.00 versus $400.00 for a plastic pad. Either way, you need to get a solid, level area for your pad.

  9. You don't have to be an Arctic owner to tell you if it was an as is year end special and it included that particular cover you may have no choice. But I would most assuradly make sure you let the dealer know your unhappyness with the cover and ask for a replacement.

I agree and would not worry about leakge, they all do to a point. I would however, ask for a replacement cover if unless it was a as is deal.

  10. The very upper part next to the house 16x10 is 15 years old. The lower 14x14 section is 13 years old. The 2 sections leading to the tub one 8x4 and the other 2x8 are 5 years old. The front 12x12 not pictured is 15 years old. All the deck takes me ONE weekend every other year, that's every 2 years I spend a weekend restaining the entire thing!!!! I spend 1/2 hour every year applying linseed oil to my tubs skirting. Now if there's any part of this you need clarification on feel free to ask!!! Every hour I spend on my deck is worth every penny in compliments and enjoyment. The spindles get done about every 3rd or 4th year because they don't fade or wear like the upward facing surfaces. The underside framework never gets done because it is brown treated pine.

If its a big deal to you paint don't do it, matter of fact I recommend you get plastic or concrete. Just don't try and tell me I made a mistake by using cedar because I would have it no other way. It looks absolutly fabulous and that's the way I want it. But if you or anyone else would like me to build a custom deck for you I would be more than happy to price it out. And if you want plastic I can build that to, I have. Or privacy fences, gazebo's.

Impossible to maintain that deck in one weekend!!!! I'll bet your check on it!!!! No way! No how!!!! to clean. prep. and dry time? no way! I bid that stuff all the time and to wash it would take a day easy with a pressure washer alone.. Then I hope you let it dry 48 hours unless you don't read the product label.....The only way you can coat that spa in 1/2 hour is to not wash it down let alone pressure wash it!!

    [/color]

If you cut corners on the deck, it thats ok but come clean and say that. Say you don't pressure wash the rail or underside every year.

Again your choice, just tell us you real time otherwise I will hire you to work for me and pay well if you can do all that properly in one weekend. plus that deck would use about $100.00 a year in product to restain each time so it does add to cost of ownership over Synthetic.. Enjoy your deck.

  11. I like synthetic for the same reasons you do (pretty much maintanenace free, longevity and improved appearance) but it's not for everyone so don't spend too much time trying to convince everyone why you're right on this one (not that you would ever do that  ).

Point taken! Just didn't like the fact that he said minimal maintenance for his deck that started out thirteen years old on lower section the shrunk to five when Icalled him on the spa areabeing added. This deck requires many many hours of upkeep, don't be misslead to anything less. I agree it looks great just tell the truth about what it takes to maintain properly....thanks!

"Wow, what a Tub! I now know why all the local dealers say not to buy it. Its because they are missing out on their $3-$5,000.00 profit on my sale. This tub has everthing and works like a dream. I am currently burning cd's to play in its sound system while I relax with the waterfall feature comforting me.

I followed the instructions about filling it up through one of the filters holes. No problems at all. Start up was a per manual and away it started heating and I was tub'n the next evening. I added a 8' x 8' gazebo from costco for 500.00 cdn, bought a few cedar lattices on three sides and chillin nicely.

Customer service has been above par with exception of being cut off by accident at 5 pm their time, must have had to get home to the kids!!! Seems like they have a front end customer service staff that likes to help but with technical questions I politely ask to speak to one of the more technical dudes about a more detailed question and response."

Just thought I'd throw this in.

Guess This isn't valid as it is pro Elite spa :ph34r::ph34r:

  13. No, he's been canvassing the internet and re-posting anything he sees that other people posted that he thinks paint a positive light on his purchase. It's not exactly like he's presenting facts as he asks others to do (after all, not everything people write on the net is factual, believe it or not), he's just throwing anything against the wall and hoping it sticks.

what is wrong with posting other users experinces to substantiate my claims! At least I can support what I say rather then just opionion with no substance. As to facts, it is much better the the old because I say it's bad it must be logic :o
