  1. we checked all connections and we have no leaks. I did buy a new cartidge filter. I will keep shock high and vacuum to waste to see if I can get rid of this fine dust. Thanks all!
  2. The filter is cartridge. I checked my manuel, I was unable to find the venturi screen. Is it part of the pump? Can you tell me where to find the venturi filter please.

  4. The filter is Hayward AG filter system. I did vacuum to waste once, Ill continue to do this until it gets better. Nothing else to do also? Or do I just be patient and vacuum to waste as much as possible until it improves? Thank You
  5. Hello pool geeks, I had an algae problem when I opened my pool last year, a rip in the cover allowed debris in. After your assist in getting it clear and maintaining my FC, I battled not very clear water last year. Numbers were good just not crisp clear water. Everytime I vacuumed the fine dust just came back into the pool. Looks as it goes right through the filter. When I opened the pool this week it looks as the same dust is sitting on the bottom of the pool. Water was pretty clear (somewhat distored with fine yellow dust on the bottom) I vacuumed and the water turned milky, the dust is coming back into the water. I will go buy another filter for my Hayward but the one I'm using is only on its 2nd year. I tried a flocking last year too, but not much change. Do you have any more suggestions?! I hope! Thanks for your time.
  6. Thanks, So I can try a quick vac to waste to get the fine dust out of the pool. Has anyone tried the flock? Would it be worth it? Hello any advise of flock?

  8. Hello, I have resolved my green water issue, plus the pool now will hold chlorine. Next question is... The pool is alot clearer and no longer cloudy, however every time I vacuum the particals are so fine they go through the filter and go right back into the pool. Before I am done vacuuming I can see the particals are settling back on the bottom of the pool. I have a bottle of alum flock but this would mean raising the PH and vacuuming to waste, and then having to add more water. I have never done this process and Im not even sure it will work. Do you pool guru's have another idea? Is there another product? The pool is not crystal clear but it is much better. We have been filtering 2 weeks now better but not crystal clear. Any ideas would be appreciated thanks!
  9. Ok I just want to be clear how to do the bucket test. What time of day, evening? I get 2 gallons of pool water and add 2t of bleach, test, should be 80ppm, wait 30 min and test fc. If none add 1t, test should be 40ppm, wait 30 min and test again. How many teaspoons should I try? If it does keep fc how do I calculate how much 6% bleach/chlorine to add. When I add bleach I should dilute and add very slowly near the return. If I do this I hope to have no trouble with my liner. Now I have a seperate question, we are talking about going away for the weekend. How can I treat the pool water to be sure I donot come back to green? Should I cover? If I add algicide and 2 or 3 triclor tabs to skimmer. Or we should not leave because it will set us back too much? We wanted to be sure we had enough time to do bucket test and chlorine add, we would do it when we came back. Thank you for all of your help, I really appreciate it!
  10. Thank you! I will do the bucket test and let you know how it goes. If the amount of bleach needed is way out there, should I consider draining some of the pool water?
  11. Hello I hope some one can help! Getting frustrated. I opened my pool 2 weeks ago and found the water green. The cover had a hole and we accumulated alot of leaf debris. We have an above ground pool 16X24 oval 11,000 gal. We have not had this trouble before and are not positive we want to do what the store recommends. We shocked with 5 bags hypo-chlor and used algicide. In one week the green is gone but we have a cloudy/milky looking pool. We have tried 7 more shocks in two days time and we are not holding FC, I had the water tested and read alot of the info at this site. CYA 31 TC 0 FC 0 PH 7.5 TA 141 ADJ TA 132 TH 317 Checked ammonia and that is not a problem. Light yellow. The store performed a chlorine demand test and recommend (Bioguard chems) 10#Super Sol and 10#Burnout. To me that is alot of chemicals and expensive ones to boot about $140. Do you have an alternative suggestion? Could we use bleach as the chlorine? How will it effect PH? My TH-calcium? is high I think due to the hypo-chlor shock. Help!
