  1. See my post at http://www.poolspaforum.com/forum/index.ph...amp;#entry79734
  2. For the past year I've been using an ionizer ( copper, zinc, silver ) along with an ozone generator. I got it from Promolife.com Cost for both systems ,in a package deal, was $1000.00 I installed both myself. I had to get a third party to do the electrical work at a cost of $50.00 + parts $25.00 So far I've been pleased with the results. I don't think the average person would want to tinker with it as much as it requires tho. I'm retired so have lots of time to play with it. The PH has to be right on or the system won't work right. My pool is right next to an oak tree. This spring I had a problem with Oak pollen ( I live in San Antonio) and had to shock it severely with chorine shock. I like it because I no longer have to mess around with chorine, muriatic acid etc etc. Once you get the water stabilized (that's where all of the tinkering comes in) It's just a matter of running the ozone generator about six hours a day and testing the copper to make sure it doesn't get too high. The ionizer I have tends to inject a lot of copper so I don't run it every day. Both the ozone (corona discharge) and the ionizer electrodes last about three to five years and cost around $100 apiece to replace. You can get the same systems from other folks and if you're a dealer you can get dealer status and buy both systems directly from the manufacturers. When I first got interested in ozone and ionizers I asked around and one dealer told me they installed several ionizer systems but ended up pulling them all out because of the buyers problems with keeping ph stable. They didn't use ozone, just the ionizer. I think if you use one, the other will compliment it. I like the feel of the water with the ozone. It gives it a fizzy look and feel.
