back again-having trouble getting the brass fitting off of the shaft from the old impeller. i tried holding the shaft with a pair of grips while trying to on screw it with no luck. Tried knocking it off with a hammer also....do i have to get a new shaft or is there some secret to getting it off?

thanks everyone- got it off, used vice grips and ripped it off. It was stripped. I am replacing it this week so I will let you know how that goes.

Hi everyone- Im trying to help my neighbor replace a broken shaft seal . I am tryng to take off the impeller but not having much luck. I know its threaded on there and I thought I had it off because it stared to come off and "unscrew", but after of about 5min of turning it didnt seem to want to come off. Any ideas on how to get this thing off? not sure how to insert a picture of it or I would, but I could email you if you like.
