  1. First of all, I want to that thank you very much for all of your input. I'm very familiar with using forums and I really appreciate all the input. I promise I will return the knowledge, once I gain it that is. I am starting to realize that there is also the possibility of my filter system as being the culprit. I use a D.E. based filter system, and I may have been administering too much D.E. after the backwash stage - yet to be confirmed. I could be wrong though as I'm new at this. To answer your questions, I am using the following: Shock: Na dichlor-isocyanurate dihydrate 99%, Other 1% Cl Tabs: Trichloro-s-Triazinetrone 93.5% Cu Sulphate Pentahydrate 1.5% Inert Available Cl 84.5% D.E. Celetom Diatomite Tonight, I have backwashed again, and am now filtering without any D.E. added. I sucked up the excess sediment last night, and it was back again this morning. I'm hoping that any excess still present will accumulate in the pool by tomorrow morning, at which time I will suck it up again. After that I am considering running with only Cl tablets added, and not adding any D.E. at all. I will add shock and acid from time-to-time but I am considering never adding D.E. again. I will just run the pump to circulate the water so that it is properly oxygenated without D.E. and hopefully I will never have to deal with the sediment issue again, aside from normal external dirt etc... If the source of the excess sediment is related to too much D.E., then I may not have a hole in my socks. (I have been doing some reading). But if I have a hole, then I obviously should replace that sock(s). Question - is there any danger in never using D.E. again? What if I just let the socks do all the work, and rely on ample Cl tabs, acid & shock added as required etc...? Thanks again
  2. I'm 6 months new to pool ownership. I find that using either the multi-use shock from Wallyworld, or the more specific expensive shock from a specialty pool store, still creates sediment in my pool. I have also tried disolving in warm water before poring into the pool - no difference. How can I apply shock to my pool without creating sediment? Or am I using the wrong shock? How do the commercial pool systems do it? They never seem to have sediment in their pools? Signed Purplexed
