  1. I figured this problem would be pretty straight forward right? Admittedly I don't know *that* much about these tubs though, so take that with a grain of salt
  2. 2004 j-345. When I first approach the tub, error indicated is - - - (meaning call the dealer) When I turn power off, then back on, temperature reads something like 80 or 90, pumps run, everything is normal. But then the temperature starts climbing and is at 105 in no time and indicates over temperature. If I leave it like that it turns into the - - -. What sensor do I need to replace exactly, and where is it located? If someone can also post a link for the exact part I'd appreciate. I've spent hours trying to get to the bottom of this with no clear direction to move forward. Thank you for any advice.
  3. Whats been your experience with them? I was thinking about this product: http://www.spadepot.com/shop/ThermoFloat-S...6-P128C637.aspx Seems like it may be one of the cheaper products though... 1) Does it ever make sense to make one yourself (if I can get a better quality material instead of the above). If so, where do you find the material for it? 2) Any impact on the ozonator? I was planning on using it year around, to further minimize water heating bills and extend the life of my cover. Does this thinking make sense? I have a 2002 Jacuzzi J-345 if that matters... Thanks for any input!
  4. The local spa place here charges ~$40 for ProClear cartridges. I found these ones below, that are 3 for $63. They look the same, but I was wondering if a) they fit mmy spa and is there any downside to using these instead of PorClear? http://www.spadepot.com/shop/Nature2-Years...-P9273C657.aspx Thanks!
  5. When I started using the tub, I followed Nitro's post on water maintenance, and used MPS occasionally when I felt the need (didn't really know what I was doing though). However now, there are times I want to use it, but when I take a reading with a MPS Test Strip (linked below) it usually appears on the high side, so I hold off...and it's been like that for at least a month. Do I need to worry about MPS levels? Does the stuff really stick around that long? I tend to only use the tub a couple times a week (and usually its only me), and thats after tennis so i would think i "dirty up" the water enough for the residual MPS to get used up... I keep FC levels around 2-4ppm (and I do use ProClear Nature2) on average, but I thought the MPS should act on some of that stuff before the chlorine. I have a Taylor test kit, but it doesn't seem to have a MPS test. Is there some other test I should be doing instead of the strips? Do I even need to use MPS given the relatively low use of the tub? Is there a post detailing the pros vs cons of using MPS? http://cgi.ebay.com/AquaChek-Monopersulfat...4#ht_1033wt_898 Thanks for any info!
  6. damn i was thinking with all these posts lately i would have at least one "oh yeah i had that problem, this is what is is" but no i'll try the mathematically impossible bleach mix and see if that clears it up
  7. Standerd mode maintains the set temp with in a couple degrees. Economy mode will allow the temp to drop by up to I think 20 degrees and will only heat during set filtration cycles. Roger is correct - I'd like to add that it is almost always more efficient to run it on standard so it heats thermostatically. oh so i wouldn't save any money by putting it in one of the economy modes? i like in warm NC and only use the tub every 3 or so days at best
  8. Don't get to carried away until you know it's mold and not somekind of staining or deterioration of the cover material. How old is the cover? honestly i have no idea if it is mold...i figured i was using the wrong word. it looks dark green, and doesn't do much of anything when i rub it with my finger, if that helps at all. the cover probably came with the tub, and it's a 2004 tub, although until now it's always been on a covered back porch so minimal exposure to the rain. i'm not going to decontaminate as i just bought the tub ~2-3 months ago and did it right before my first (and current) fill. any other ideas/questions?
  9. I have a Jacuzzi J-345 which is growing some sort of mold looking stuff on the underside of the cover (directly above the water). Any advice on getting rid of it, and/or preventing it from appearing in the first place? Thanks!!
  10. Was considering the power usage of my tub, and was wondering what effect the Maintenance Mode has on that...which one do you use? Ever noticed any differences in power consumption? What the difference between the Standard and Economy modes...I didn't fully "get it" from the manual. I live in NC if that matters.. Thanks!
  11. anyone have any experience with something like this?
  12. Surely somebody has made something that can release/pump liquid every hour/day etc...right? I've done some google searching but havent found anything yet.. Obviously I'm looking for a way to drop some bleach in my spa every so often... Help!
  13. How do you know when you need stain and scale control? I figured that was a more proactive kind of thing...
  14. Thanks for the responses everyone, that covers 2 and 3. Anyone have any input on items 1 and 4? Thanks!!
