  1. thanks for the help, I figured the panel couldn't come out, I'll order a high limit thermistor and see if that does the trick. thanks, Dave
  2. thanks Spa Guru! I will try and brave the weather and open it up tomorrow and report back. Is there a trick to getting into the control box in a '96 sovereign?
  3. I have a Sovereign model I spa that is malfunctioning. I have been having trouble of this type for several years when the filters need cleaning and the circulation pump doesn't move enough water through the heater so it trips off on high heat. I have new filters and it is doing it again. I have good flow through the circulator pump so that isn't the issue. I can turn off the spa for a while and then restart it and it get hots and works fine. Then a day later I come out and the red light is flashing. When this happens, the circulator pump is working still, the spa is not hot, and the main jets won't work. Does any one have any idea what to do to trouble shoot this problem. I've changed out the control board hoping that might be the problem but with out success. Thanks, Dave
  4. Hello, I've been fighting with my spa over no heat for a couple of months. I have just bought new filters as my old ones were past their prime. I have 3 filters and it is a 120 volt model with an ozoneator which sends bubbles coming up thru the drain cover on the bottom. The spa stops heating with a flashing light but the circulator pump keeps working sending up a solid stream of bubbles. I had problems about a year ago and traced it to the electronic hi-limit board which I replaced and solved the no heat problem. Now it is back. I've pulled the new filters and tried resetting the power and the spa comes on and works for about a minute then begins flashing again. I would suspect the circulation pump but judging from the flow of bubbles, it is working properly. I changed it a couple of years ago. So, I have new filters, a fairly new high-limit board, good flow from the circulator. That leaves me with the heater itself and the possibility of buildup inside. I have ordered some spa flush which I hope will help clean out the plumbing but I'm not overly optimistic. Any help would be great. Davo
  5. One of the big black plugs should have been the heater, so if it still trips with the heater unplugged I would look towards thr GFCI, thanks Dan, I'll follow that path. Dave
  6. Hello, I've had my hot tub go dead. The GFI (at end of chord) trips and will not stay on. Over the past year this has happened off and on maybe 10 times but now it will not reset. I had the circulation pump changed over the summer and replaced the filters. I suspect that the heater (110 volts) may be a shorted or possibly the gfi plug has failed. I've tried unplugging the three gray wires which go the left side of the black box and also the 4 big black plugs which plug into the bottom of the black box and the gfi still trips. Any help on next steps would be great. Thanks, Dave
