  2. Just for the curious Masco Corporation Reports 2010 Results 2010 Full-Year Commentary •Sales declined three percent to $7.6 billion. •Results for key financial measures, as adjusted for certain items (see Exhibit A) and with a normalized tax rate of 36 percent, compared to the full-year of 2009 were as follows: •Gross profit margins were 26.4 percent compared to 26.5 percent. •Operating profit margins were 5.7 percent compared to 5.6 percent. •Income was $.16 per common share compared to $.31 per common share. •(Loss) from continuing operations, as reported was $(3.00) per common share compared to $(.41) per common share for the full-year of 2009. •We recorded a valuation allowance related to U.S. deferred tax assets and an impairment charge for goodwill and other intangible assets. These charges reduced our reported earnings by $(2.76) per common share for the full-year and fourth quarter of 2010. •Working capital as a percent of sales improved to 13.4 percent at December 31, 2010, compared to 14.7 percent at December 31, 2009. •Free cash flow (cash from operations, less capital expenditures, before dividends) approximated $290 million. •We ended 2010 with over $1.7 billion of cash. Taylor, Mich., (February 14, 2011) - Masco Corporation (NYSE: MAS) today reported that net sales from continuing operations for the year ended December 31, 2010 decreased three percent to $7.6 billion. North American sales decreased three percent and International sales were flat. In local currencies, International sales increased five percent compared with 2009. Income from continuing operations was $.16 per common share and $.31 per common share for 2010 and 2009, respectively, excluding the items in Exhibit A and with a normalized tax rate of 36 percent. Including these items, loss from continuing operations, as reported was $(3.00) per common share and $(.41) per common share for the years ended December 31, 2010 and 2009, respectively. "Industry conditions in 2010 continued to be challenging and it was a tough year for Masco. In many ways 2010 was a tale of two halves. We came out of 2009 with good momentum and our sales in the first half of 2010 were up two percent. As the year progressed, the expiration of the home buyer tax credit, increasing commodity costs and the competitive environment made the second half of 2010 much more challenging and our sales were down seven percent compared to second half 2009. Our installation and cabinet businesses which are tied to new home construction and "big ticket" repair and remodel activity were particularly hard hit. We are encouraged that in a difficult environment, our full-year adjusted gross margins (26.4 percent) and operating profit (5.7 percent) were essentially flat with 2009 even though sales were down three percent. We accomplished a lot in 2010 as we focused on strengthening our brands and improving our execution. We continued to implement the Masco Business System (MBS) across the enterprise, introduced innovative new products including Delta®Touch20® faucets, Arrow® RED® line of staplers, and Kilz® Pro-X™ paint, and enhanced our financial flexibility, ending the year with $1.7 billion of cash," said Masco's CEO Tim Wadhams. We continue to focus on the rationalization of our businesses, including business consolidations, plant closures, headcount reductions, system implementations and other initiatives. During 2010 and 2009, we incurred costs and charges of $208 million pre-tax ($.38 per common share, after tax) and $94 million pre-tax ($.17 per common share, after tax), respectively, related to these initiatives.
  3. Masco Fourth Quarter and Year End Results will be releases Feb 15 at 8:00 AM
  4. I had actually heard , not sure if it was rumour or not , that Masco was at one time of thinking of spinning off Watkins to stand alone. This has nothing to do with there quality ,it is just a reality of market conditions
  5. If it was up to me , I would wait to see the dust clear before I purchased anything from this group.
  6. If you want information on warranty or information on premium builder , go to the web site and the bottom http://www.ecosmartspas.ca/
  7. I have been selling covers for 20 yrs and the average life is any where between 3-5 yrs if it is outdoors. Some customers have gotten past 5 , but that is just because they don't want to replace it.
  8. I am going to have to disagree. IMHO if we are talking about the same site http://lazboyspas.com/index.html it has a nice design and flows extremely well. While the prices are MSRP which is a grossed up full list , it doesn't mean anything. It is just a base price from which the dealers receive there discount from. I have had customers come into my store and tell me that a Beachcomber , Dynasty or a Hot Spring is listed at $15,000 and they can have it for $8999 I have various price 2010 price lists for most of the major manufactorer's and all of there top models are around the same price.
  9. Isn't there an issue with shipping chemicals as per dangerous goods ? I know from past experience that this is very costly to ship.
  10. depends on the product, I never really have a problem with the covers...its the chemicals
  11. I find it now a days customers want it all free measuring , free delivery ( which you have to do because they do )disposal and a good price ! For the majority of customers it is price over quality
  12. Guess time will tell . PoolSpaGuy30...I do like you favs ..... opinions are like a$$holes...everyone has one and they usually stink" -my favs
  13. I am a little confused by " Lets not use the word integrity since hydropool was sold to a private equity firm a couple yrs ago " " is nothing now but a shell of a company that used to build good tubs " Can you expand on this ?
  14. With so many people ordering products online , I have found that the Hot Tub business is no different. I have lost a few sales to the on line guys , especially the Hot Tub cover guys ? How are the leaders in this field ? Any sugggestions on how to combat them ?
  15. They are not being manufactured by Premium Leisure. They are being made by a well respect manufacturer, Hydropool Industries out of Mississauga , Ontario. Hydropool Industries signed the licsencing agreement last year. If the tubs are built with the same integrity that is put into their Self Clean and Serenity line up, then they should have a winner
  16. This might help you Dream Maker Spas and The Leisure Group Align Dream Maker Spas, Lake Mary, Fla., and The Leisure Group, Grimsby, Ontario and Lakeland, Fla., have formed a strategic sales and marketing alliance. The Celebrity acrylic spa line, previously manufactured by Leisure Bay Industries, a sister division of Dream Maker, will now be produced in the same plant as The Leisure Group's Sunrise brand, under the Dream Maker name. "We are excited on several fronts regarding this new partnership," says Dream Maker's Dave Czech. Dream Maker has also become the exclusive representatives for The Leisure Group's Freestyle brand in the Southeastern United States. "We couldn't be more pleased," says TLG's Jack Layfield. "The Dream Maker Team, headed by Dave, is well entrenched in the Southeast marketplace, and we are very much looking forward to contributions they will bring to our sales and marketing efforts." "Some natural synergies already exist between our two organizations," adds Czech, 'primarily due to our close proximities and shared commercial strategies. We believe Freestyle offers the most unique combination of innovative mold designs, quality and eco friendly features of any hot tub within the marketplace."
  17. I am just wondering if anybody has seen the new Laz Boy Spa Line and any thoughts on them ? http://lazboyspas.com/index.html
  18. I believe that they have closed down in Florida. They had an auction about 2 months ago and all the equipment was sold off. A Canadian Company is pulling the shells and making tubs for them under contract......the writing is on the wall
  19. They where at the show , but almost missed them. There booth was 1/3 of last years size. I did ask the question to a rep and his response was " that he had no clue what I was talking about " He would find out and let me know. Clueless for sure !
  20. Got you all beat minus -31 last night up here in Northern Ontario.........two years ago -34 with a -10 wind chill factor. Soaked in a Hydropool 800 Titanium for about 20 minutes as the kids played hockey on the rink behind me !!
  21. I saw it also. They sure tried to hide it with the rest of the headers in the bottom. Not that I can blame them for doing this , but it does deserve then right for BAD BUSINESS PRACTICES. I am sure that there are some respectable Dynasty dealers that will pay the brunt of this bad publicity. They( Dynasty) are displaying in Atlantic City this coming week at an Industry show , so we will see what the word on the street is. !
  22. Both are good Tubs. I feel it is more important to be happy with the dealer as this will be the person who is servicing your tub. Where are you from ? Good luck with your purchase !!!
  23. I wouldn't even get in the spa if it wasn't GFCI !!!!
