  1. OK...Inspected the tub and have some additional details Circulation pump replaced by local dealer last week ($400.00 bill) Jet Stream Jet needs replacing Moto Massage not working Owner says light(s) worked prior to circ pump replacement (maybe the tech did something?) Cover is weathered, but still functional Any opinions please? Would you pass or make an offer? How much?
  2. I'm going to look at a 2002 HS Jetsetter tomorrow... Original owners, meticulously maintained (so they say) by older couple. Asking $1,100 (might go as low as $800.00) I'll make sure all the jets work properly and valves...will check for leaks. Anything else I should look out for with this model? The Jetsetter seems like a well built and reliable model from what I've read. Is the price fair? Seems like a good deal if everything works. Will only be used by one or two adults, but mainly just myself and is currently wired for 110/120v which is what I need since more than one electrician has said that an entire new main panel would have to installed to gain 220v. Thanks for any advice you can give me... DC
  3. Just thought I'd share my experience buying a used '02 Sundance Altamar on Craigslist recently... They were the original owners and the tub had been sitting in the same place since day 1. In a sunken patio with a deck overhead. The sun had never hit any part of this tub. Due to their increased time away from home, they hired someone to winterize it (or so they thought) a couple years ago. They were very accomodating and filled up the tub so I could inspect it thoroughly. The heater turned out to have a crack (not completely blown out and water was left in the heater, turned to ice and cracked the casing) and they promptly called out a tech to install a new one ($500.00). It turned out pump #1 had a small leak and a seal was replaced. They kept the tub full and running for 2 weeks so I could wet test it and then have a final inspection prior to moving. The tub is in literally "like new" condition. Price was $2,000 with a brand new heater and the circ pump just 2 years old. I've been told the price was more than fair. Does this tub have every single feature I wanted in a spa? No, but how long would I have to wait to find one for sale from sellers who are completely honest and willing to make repairs to the tub prior to the sale? I would not buy used tub that is not up and running for at least 7 days. If there are any issues with the tub, the owners should fix the tub or adjust the price accordingly. If the price is not significantly lower than "new with warranty", I would not buy it. Just my 2 cents... Good Luck
  4. AS you can see, Sundance has two CD ozonators with the model pictured being the more powerful one. I would stick with the Sundance models. You can get an after market to work but may not register on your contol panel. I own a 2002 Optima and have gone the opposite route. I have removed my ozonator. Though I believe they have value, I am not a big fan. I still have my Mazzei injector with check valves and the tubing in a hartford loop so I still get the all the tiny bubbles. FWIW, I would opt for the lower output model. Thank you for your input...
  5. Thanks in advance... I have an '02 Sundance Altimar and I cannot smell any ozone anymore. Not sure if it's a UV or CD generator, but probably does not matter anyway. I read online that you must replace it with another Sundance unit (don't believe that). If the ozone generator is only activated when the circulation pump comes on, then I think any unit would work. Any suggestions for a replacement CD Ozone Generator? Perhaps this Sundance model.. or can I get by with a less expensive option (your suggestions)? Sundance CD Ozone Generator
  6. I think that's something the original owners would consider... Thanks, I'll let them know.
  7. Here are some photos of a tub I am going to purchase if the moving costs are not too high. It was originally placed there by hand (no crane). The original owner says it was moved on its side along the grass (edging and bushes were not there) and then tipped it over and then it was lowered into position by hand. I'm thinking that the stair rail can be removed and it just be moved that way. The only potential trouble is moving it from where it is now to the grassy area. The gate is 5 feet wide and there are no obstructions at my house. Any thoughts... If you have any movers to suggest in the Denver area, please let me know. Thanks DC
  8. The current owner says the only repair he has done is install the new ozonater. He is the 2nd owner and has only has it a couple years. I'll be looking at an '02 Sundance Altamar 850 today. Like new, original owners, asking $2,200 UPDATE... I went ahead and purchased the Sundance this evening and it really is in like new condition. Paid $2,000 The Beachcomber is still available...It's in Castle Rock, Colorado if anyone is interested.
  9. Forgot to post a couple pics of it... He is also including all the 220v electrical cables/conduit/GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) Wish it had a lounger though... Also have found an 03 Arctic (not sure of model, but is 5-6 person with 50+ jets, lounger and captains chair for $1,800 and an 02 Sundance for $2,200 (the Sundance is literally in like new condition) I'll have a look at those this weekend.
  10. The tub in question is an '03 Beachcomber 750 with Hush Pumps, Protec System, new ozonator last year. Saw the tub last night and everything works. The current owners dog chewed 2 corners of the cover and a couple of the composite siding pieces are warped. Firm at $1,400 Any opinions on the tub and/or the price? Thanks a lot. I've learned quite a bit from reading the other posts. DC.
