  1. Does anyone have a good product that can clean gel coat under water? I have some stains that I think are in the gel coat. I would like to know if there is a product that can clean it under water???
  2. The Reason your pH levels vary between home and the store is tha pH changes over time. When you do a test for environmental compliance (my background) it has to be measured within 15 minutes of when it is removed from the source. High cl will drop out Iron and other metals so you should minimize the amount of free Cl to the lowest level that will keep the pool sanitized...
  3. I had my pool installed last year. I had stamped concrete installed around my pool. If I had to do it over I would go with the plain concrete. The stamped with coloring looked good initially, but over the winter it started to scale and now it doesn;t look as good... If your installer is telling you that you need to worry about future problems with the plumbing I would worry about the quality of his work. Pavers have been going out of style because of setteling problems. Most new Paver installations have a concrete foundation now rather than the sand and rock base because of settling problems.
  4. Hello, My fiberglass pool was closed by a contractor in october. I have the Aquagenie filter system. The contractor lowered the water level below the filter. The pool company sold me the winter cover, it is a mesh cover so water goes right through it. I've been relowering the water after every rain fall. Do I need to be worrying about this or should I continue to pump the pool down after every rain? Thank you for any advice...
  5. Are you getting power on the output from the switch? Then at the pump? If so then maybe the motor is bad.
  6. first try backflushing the filter, that will take the water down some, then go get a cheap sump pump or cover pump, you can get then for around $100.00
  7. I just watched the guy do my pool and he had the same setup. What you need to do is order a replacement cap for the filter pump, (The clear plastic thing that you can look into to see if the strainer basket on the pump). Do google on the pump manufacturer and ask them where you can get that piece. It should come with a gasket. The pool store may even have one... While at the pool store, pick up a straight hose adapter. This fitting is what you would buy to replace a fitting for vacuuming. You can probably get that piece at the plumbing store.... You will also need a nut to fit the threaded portion on the fitting. Then you drill a hole in the clear plastic piece that the fitting will fit in. Then you use silicone sealant bead around the hole. Insert the fitting, thread on the nut and your're done. My closer told me that you can use a leaf blower to blow out the line. I'll have to make up a fitting to go from the blower to the filter... A picture of the installed cap and fitting is here
  8. Wally, Sounds like you've got it right to me. If you want to save a little money you can use a large maul. Joe
  9. Hello, Newbie here... I had a pool installed this year, fiberglass inground. great so far. Had it closed yesterday. Solid safety cover. Do I "need" a cover pump or can I use my shop vac to suck off water when it acccumulates? Thanks in advance for any help.
