  1. I think that is exactly correct. I had calculated 20 oz / 450 gallon to get 50 ppm when I added Gentle Spa to my hot tub. BTW, you can save money by using ProTeam's Supreme PLUS. Chemically identical to Gentle Spa, but in larger sizes (for pools). I saw that on the website and wondered about that. I saw that the main ingredient was the same but wondered if there was anything different than what's in GentleSpa. Like no fragrance and that sort of thing...if thats important to you.
  2. I checked the ProTeam website and found the MDS on Gentle Spa and the main ingredient is "tetraborate pentahydrate". I also wanted to confirm this with the company and they replied in an email that if used as directed on the bottle which is 4 oz. per 150 gallon would provide 30 ppm of Gentle Spa(borate). This is exactly in sync with what the pool calculator indicates.
  3. I had my Arctic Tundra since mid April of this year. So far it has been nothing but fantastic! The only reason I'm writing this is because not everyone has "bad luck" with their Arctic. I'm not affiliated with Arctic in any way except that I bought one.....Boy I hope I'm not "jinksing" myself.
  4. Before I bought my spa I tested both the Arctic Tundra and Summit. I went with the Tundra due to the fact it "felt" like a much larger tub and less confined even though they both have the same outer dimensions. I love the Tundra and I have had no problems at all so far. I've had the tub since about mid April. I have a Tundra LE with Deluxe Northern Lights, Therapy Air and no Onzen(just Arctic Ozone). As far as Arctic customer service.....the verdict is still out. Just my 2 cents.
  5. I recently drained and filled my tub. I know the recommended amount of borates Nitro suggests is 50ppm. If I follow the instructions on the bottle of Gentle Spa which suggests 4 oz. of Gentle Spa to every 150 Gallons will this give me approximately 50 ppm? It doesn't specify on the bottle how many ppm's this will give. I'm just making sure. Thanks
  6. I inject CO2 into a live planted aquarium but how would you practically do it into a hottub. I do it in an aquarium because some live plants love the extra CO2 and some benefits of lowering the PH. I know you "could" do it but not sure how practical it would be in a hottub setting due to constant outgassing, huge volumes of CO2 needed along with large volumes of water, where to put the CO2 tank, ext.... I assume it would be similar to injecting ozone but IMO you would need too much CO2 and the conditions would be far from ideal to make a difference in PH. Agree, Disagree?
  7. It's a minimum of 5 feet in direct line of sight.
  8. I think it is the other way around...meaning you can go from chlorine to bromine but NOT from bromine to chlorine without doing a drain as quoting from Nitro.
  9. I should rephrase. An Ozonator will increase the IDLE Chlorine Demand. That means when the tub is not being used, the ozonator has little to do. However, it will outgas Chlorine, lowering your FC faster. OTOH, after the tub is used the ozonator will HELP oxidize bather waste, therefore saving FC. What does all that mean? It means an ozonator will increase your CD when not using the tub, but will help keep CD lower when you are using the tub. Make sense? Now it does. Thanks. I was just making sure. I'm getting an ozonator installed on my tub next week...The one the dealer forgot to order from the factory....another story. I needed to know if it is the right choice to have it installed while using chlorine. While I'm at it Nitro, I want to say thanks for all your info about the bleach method along with all the other information you and everyone else provides on this forum. I've been doing the bleach for about 3 months and it's working great. Thanks again, Tomab
  10. I thought that having an ozonator was to reduce the load on chlorine but this suggests the opposite. What then is the purpose or good reason to use an ozonator along with chlorine? Please straighten me out on this.
  11. Thanks for the replies. Any other insight? Just drain and refill or drain, clean, refill? What does everyone else do? Thanks
  12. Hi Everyone, I'm getting ready for the first water change coming up shortly. Brand new tub with no water quality problems what so ever (knock on wood). It's been about 3 months. Since I have had no problems with water should I just drain and refill or is there a standard procedure I should follow in order to keep things in check like wiping down the shell or running a cleaner through?....those sort of things? Thanks
  13. I have an Arctic Tundra LE with a cedar cabinet. The cabinet is beautiful! It really is like a fine piece of furniture. IMHO it's worth a little maintence each year. If it gets scratched no problem. The stain will "erase" the blemish. Not so with the synthetic. I only had the tub for about three months but absolutely no problems. Love it. No Onzen. Tomab
  14. I remember I chuckled when I first saw that post. Those days are long gone for me. Around 61 degrees F! Maybe in the middle of a summer heat wave that would feel great.
  15. The forcast for this weekend is in the 80's. I'm just curious aboout how hot or cool does everyone keep their spa when the outdoor temps are on the rise? In summertime do most folks still use it as a warm massage or as a cool dip in a small pool? I'm new to the hot tub thing so I don't have a clue. Tomab
  16. Turns out my dealer failed to put it in with the order to Arctic. The dealer will add Arctic Ozone themselves. Thanks everyone, Tomab
  17. It has been great. It will be even better once this is dealt with. I just wish the dealer thought this was as urgent as I do. Thanks for the input Water Boy and spateck.
  18. My Arctic tub was supposed to have Arctic Ozone installed at the factory, however, somehow my tub does not have it installed for reasons I have yet to find out. My dealer said they can add it on now. I would like to know if an installation in an existing tub is just as good as if it was installed in the factory. My worries are if the quality of installation after the tub is built can be as good as the the one installed in the factory. I can't help but wonder if years down the road it may be more likely to have leaks around the installation area due to improper access, materials, workers ability, ext.... At first my feeling was that I should demand a new tub as I ordered it and paid for it. But I'm not just trying to be difficult. If the add on install can be just as good as a factory install I think I would be willing to accept that. Whats everyones thoughts? Should I let the dealer install the ozone system on sight on my existing tub or demand a new tub with everything I ordered on it straight from the factory? I haven't heard back from my dealer on how exactly they want to handle this. I don't want to get caught up in "the dealer should have noticed this before delivery" or "Arctic shouldn't of let this happen" argument. I already know this whole situation is B/S and I am quite disgusted already. It would be nice to have some unbiased opinions on which is best about the installation. Any opinions would be helpfull. Thank you very much, Tomab
  19. I couldn't agree more. If the dealer chooses to add on the Arctic Ozone does anyone know if the installation method is just as reliable as if it were done in the factory or does it possibly increase the chance of leaking potential and that sort of thing?
  20. Thanks Glid and UK. I checked out my tub further and decided I do not have ozone. Thanks for the offer UK but I already put a call in to my dealer and they are going to check with Arctic on what's going on. This is very frustrating especially since I've waited for my tub to be delivered for nearly 3 months. Delay after delay and now this. Tom
  21. Hi everyone, I just received my Arctic Tundra LE the other day. I love it! To my point. I was looking under the hood just because I find it interesting. I noticed that there was no plug or accessory occupying the socket on the outside of the control box that was labeled "ozone". Is this supposed to be open and the Arctic Ozone operates on power from another source or is there no ozone system installed on my tub? My first instinct is to think there is none installed on my tub (even though I paid for it). Before I get all enraged I figured I'd better check with you guys on the forum. How would I know if the Arctic Ozone was installed or not? I definately want to find out before I make a call to my dealer and question them on this. Thanks for your help. Tom
  22. Well here it is over 2 months later. I am glad to say my wife and I have an Arctic Tundra LE on order. No Onzen. It should be here very soon. Here are some details of the testing if anyone may be interested. We ended up finding a dealer that was about 2 hours away who had a Tundra wet and also one dry. They also had a Summit dry as well. I really liked that they had a Tundra and Summit dry in order to test out the seating positions on an equal playing field (both dry). First up was the Summit(dry). My wife and I both loved the seating positions which seems slightly reclined. I think you could really sit back and injoy a relaxing soak. However....for me I did like the slightly reclined position but pretty much all the seats seemed a little to small for me. I felt a little cramped especially in the hip area. (note, I am 6'2" about 240lbs, I wish I could say of solid muscle mass but I'd be lying . I was also concerned about the deepness of the seats. I really wanted to be sure I would easily be able to have my shoulders beneath the waterline without slouching down. Those two things really raised a question in my mind. Next onto the Tundra(dry). Immediately I felt like the Tundra had so much more room. To be honest I didn't like the upright seating position as well as what the Summit offered but I by no means felt cramped. Even the leg room seemed like there was so much more space. After evaluating every thing dry my wife and I compared notes. She had in her mind her favorite of the two. Of course it was the opposite of what I chose. But after discussing it we did agree that so far the Tudra was the one a growing family should chose. Next came the Tundra wet test. This seems like a HUGE tub. Lots of room for legs, and different body types(I guess this is what Arctic engineers had in mind). The tub in the showroom was way overfilled so it was plenty deep enough. My wife had to struggle to keep her head up. My kids....forget about it, luckily they can swim. Even with a correct water level I would be fine with shoulders being submerged. All in all we liked the Tundra. Jets seemed strong enough and well placed. The dealer where we wet tested said they would service the tub if we bought from them but we we're not to sure being 2 hours away. Shortly after we went back to my closer dealer (1 hour away) and worked out a price and It should be here in a week or two. Really excited to get this installed to catch some snowflakes while in the tub. Thanks for all who gave their thoughts and experience earlier in the post. Sincerely, Tomab
  23. Thanks Everyone. Sorry I took so long to reply back. I didn't make it back to the dealer yet to discuss things further. I appreciate all your responses. I know there are a few more dealers and customers out there on these forums that have more experience with these two than I do. What are the customers saying about each one? I would really like to know. In the mean time I will try and wet test both....somehow. Thanks again for everyone's input.
  24. Thanks for input the guys. Thats what I'm looking for. Specifics on why everyone went with the model they bought. I was wondering about the Onzen. My local Arctic dealer doesn't recommend it at this point. He feels it is too new and the (bugs) aren't worked out yet. With all the posts on this forum (most of them about difficulties... but not all) I can't argue with his reasoning. Still it is very interesting to me. Hopefully I can get some more feedback on all of this.
  25. I have been to my Arctic dealer to check out the Tundra and Summit. I am very interested in one of them. However my dealer has none of them in stock. He is more than willing to get one shipped in for me to wet test with no obligation to buy. The problem is that he would like to get only ONE of the two in to wet test and I can't decide what I should request. I know ideally I should wet test them both then decide but as of now that's not the deal. What are your thoughts on each particular model. I have read the brochures/website extensively. Gone over the jet location and placement, seat arrangement....and so on and so on... I'm still not sure! I'm looking for any insite from anyone who has tried these out or has any experience with these. Dealers included. All opinions welcome. Buyers, did you try both? What was your conclusions and why. Dealers, What was the main reasons the customer went with one and not the other. Any insight would be helpfull. Thanks, Tom PS, don't want to change the subject but is the Therapy Air worth it to get. Also, for those who purchased the Arctics would you mind passing on what you paid, model and level of options. thanks again.
