  1. What year is it, 2001? The adding water has nothing to do with it, just coincidence. If you have a multimeter you can check the heater for resistance and can check the heater relay for voltage. Yes Dan the tub is a 2001 and I do have a volt meter. Where am I checking for resistance and do I do that with the power off? Where do I check the heater relay for voltage? Thanks Steve Turn power off. Pull the heater leads off from the board. Put the meter leads into the white and black heater ends and see if you get 9.8 ohms or so. If it reads "open line" then the heater is bad. To test for voltage at the relay, turn power to the tub back on and put the meter leads on the terminals that the heater's black and white wires were connected to. Should get 110 or 220 volts depending on how you have it set up. As far as the leak goes, do you have a black or white air intake valve in the upper right hand corner of the motor compartment? It has (2) 3/4" lines and (1) 1/8" line coming out of it. If so you need to replace this with a new part called a Hartford Loop. Dan the Spa Man, I tested the heater and it tested ok at about 9.4 ohms. I turned the power back on and tested the power at the relay and only got about 4 VAC. I noticed the connector on the white wire has a blackish tint to the clear like something burnt but the wire and connector are good. I am assuming the black square pieces on the circuit board are the relays? One of the relays looks like it may be burnt up, like something melted between the relay and circuit board. So assuming this is just a failure due to age, what do I replace? Can I unsolder the relay and put a new one in or do you usually just replace the whole circuit board? Where is the best place to get the replacement parts I will need? Thanks Steve Normally you just replace the whole board...the new ones are better. I sent you a PM. Finally got the tub back up and running. Thank you Dan the Spa Man!

  5. So my tub has a slow leak that makes me have to add water every once in a while. I usually just take a hose and add water to the filter area until the tub is full. This time I used the nosel set on high pressure jet into the filter area. Now my tub stop heating and is stuck at like 78 degrees for over a day now. I thought I must have clogged the filters so I took them all out and sprayed them down and put them back in. I also unplugged the tub for ten minutes to try and reset anything that needs to be reset. I have the no fault 6000 heater and it did not appear that the reset button was out. I tried pushing on that button too and my tub is still not heating up. The tub has been working fine up until I added the water with high pressure into the filter compartment. Any ideas on what I should do now before giving up and calling a professional?
  6. Just go out and buy a fog machine and leave the tub alone duder!
  7. I believe the structural integrety is there now but if I decide to rebuild the deck I am going to pay a professional.
  8. As long as it is not attached to the house we do not need a permit and I live in a small town in Maine, we do not have any city engineers.
  9. I drained the tub today and added three 6 x 6 beams under the structure for support under the tub. Things should be good now. The tub is filled back up and it should be ready to use tomorrow after work. I have never added a picture on here but here it goes.
  10. There is a support in the center. If it gets any worse I will have to support it some more. I am really curious what everyone else used in the construction of their deck that their tub is sitting on.
  11. I know the hot tub is very heavy 3000 to 4000 lb. I built a deck that is low to the ground on one end and maybe a foot off the ground on the other end. The deck is level but the ground slopes down hill. Anyway i have the deck sitting on six sona tubes filled with concrete 4 feet deep. The deck is constructed out of 2 x 8 pressure treated 16 inches on center and then supported in the middle with a 4 x 6. When I look at the deck with the tub full centered on the deck, I can see that the deck boards have settled about a half of an inch on one side towards the center. i am not sure if this is normal with all that weight or maybe I sould have went with 2 x 10 or 2 x 12 construction?? What did you make your deck out of?? Sorry for such a long post.
  12. Come on somebody help me out here. I would like to get a little guidance here before I tear into this thing lol. First, make sure that the air intake valve (located in the motor compartment) has been changed to a Hartford loop. Even though it is located in the motor compartment, it leaks water out of the front left of the spa (and it could seep over to the back corner). The air intake was either black or white with (2) 3/4" lines and (1) 1/8" line coming out of it. It is located up high somewhere in the motor compartment. You can buy a Hartford loop at a local HS dealer. I'm not at work so I can't check but isn't the bank of ten small 'precision' jets located in that back corner? If so, there was a problem with glue joint leaks in that seat. I would dig out that area first and run the jets to see if you can see water coming out of one of the glue joints. Ok thank you for the information.

  14. I have a 2001 Hot Springs Prodigy that has a slow leak. I have the tub set-up in my driveway and it is shimmed on the outside edges to make it level. If I am standing at the control panel on the outside of the tub, it is always wet under the back left corner of the tub. In two weeks time I had to add water once because the tub lost about an inch or two of water. I just got done building a new deck for the tub and want to make sure all leaks are fixed before moving it. Any ideas on what could be leaking? If any of the jets are leaking, can I remove them from inside the tub to check connections or do I have to dig out insulation or something? Any help would be appreciated.
  15. It looks like one of your check valves became loose. If the water is coming from the equipment bay, you don't have anything to worry about it just looks like something got loose. You should call your nearest dealer service center for more help. Best Wishes! We used the tub today and it actually stopped leaking. I plan on having a professional check everything out before i move it out back to the deck I am building for it.
  16. I picked up a used 2001 hot Springs Prodigy yesterday. I went and checked it out and it was running and had no leaks that I could see at the persons house I bought it from. The guy delivered it to me last night. Today I cleaned it up, leveled it, installed the correct power outlet. I filled the tub up and went through the start up procedure and added all chemicals needed to get water parameters where they should be. I start running the jets and the tub starts leaking where the two drains are to drain the tub. I removed the access cover and there is water in there but I can not see where the water is coming from. If I turn off the jets the thing stops leaking. Any ideas on what I should do now to find the leak? I know this thing was not leaking when I checked everything out. Right now I have the tub on so that it can get up to 102. I plan on running it tommorrow to see how much water leaks out when I am using it. Any help would be appreciated. Sorry for the long post.
  17. About 500 bucks if there is no water in it and it's not running. If there is water in it that's a different story. Tubs don't hold there value very well and that one won't have any warranty. A couple grand for sure but could be more. The tub is filled and running with a new cover and chemicals. The guy is also going to deliver the tub too, I just have to help load and unload.
  18. I am looking into purchasing a 2005 Hot Spings Sovereign and was wondering what a fair price would be for this tub in excellent new condition?
  19. I am looking to purchase a used hot tub and found a couple that I am interested in. One is a 1998 hotsprings landmark and the other is a marquis. The marquis is either the reward or the retreat but not sure which model it is yet. Which one do you think I should get. They are both the same price and I am going on Saturday to see the marquis run. I am buying something used for now and if we love it I will spend the big bucks on a new one.
  20. If the cord is under the tub being pinched, most likely you should replace the cord. The pinch could be causing wires to touch each other that should not be touching which is probably causing you breaker to trip.
  21. Wow is the tub that heavy that a crane was needed to set it in place or is there not a way to back a trailer up to where the tub is going?
