  1. Hello, First I want to say thank you in advance...i've been reading and learning and am greatly impressed by the knowledge and helpfulness that I seen from the members and contributors to this forum! I am stumped; I have a Sundance Caprio Model year 2000 that I've used on a regular (3 to 4 times a week) basis since it was purchased in February of 2000. It has worked almost flawlessly except for having to change the circulation pump. Early January this year I came home to find the power off and saw that the GFCI was tripped, opened the panel and saw that the board was fried at the heater in and heater out. Ordered a new board, 6600-286, receieved the board and installed it. I copied the installation as it had been on the old board and confirmed that the jumper settings were all correct. When i turned on the system it went through it's normal boot and then showed the temperature as 50 degrees and ICE...as expected the ciruclation pump started moving water and the heater turned on, a short time later the heater clicked off and then the display showed the ---- for watchdog. I started reading and learned that temperature sensors are a likely culprit. To be safe, i ordered a hi limit sensor and the temp sensor and the flow switch (probably not needed but i wanted to make sure that i was working from all good parts) and a new filter cartridge because it hadn't been changed for almost 3 years and installed all per the instructions. Powered on the spa and it started up as usual, showed temperature at 50 and ICE, circulation pump started moving water and heater kicked on; I even turned on the jets and let them run for about 5 minutes and they worked fine. This time the circulation pump and the heater worked for about an hour and then kicked off and went back to watchdog (display showed that temperature rose from 50 to 53 and i verified this with a thermometer). Turned off the spa and waited about 20 minutes. Powered back on, once it went through the boot up process it almost immediately went to watchdog. So, what else is left? Brand new circuit board, brand new temp sensor, brand new hi limit sensor, brand new flow switch, relatively new ciruclation pump that is working, and heater that appears to be working as it raised the temperature. What else can I check? Do I need to get a new heater? I've spent a lot of money on the darn thing already; i'm stubborn enough that i don't want to stop now!!! Do I need to break down and call a service tech? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please Please Please I want to use my tub again! Thank you Alan, Frustrated in Indiana
  2. I used .65 mm "Mystic White" pool filter sand...... the crew at my local pool store said this was what I needed (I told them what I had, they looked at their catalog and this is what they said I needed.
  3. I have a Hayward 166t pump and filter system. When I vacuum my pool everything works fine for a few minutes then my return starts putting all the dirt that i'm vacuuming back in to the pool (it's dirt not algae). I've replaced my sand, and the lateral assembly with center pipe so i know they are new and working properly. I've taken apart the multiport valve checked the o-rings and relubed them....still no luck. Does anyone have any ideas.....I'm considering ordering a new multiport valve, but don't want to drop $70 to $100 if it's going to be waste. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help!
