  1. Hope someone can help with this. As you may know Intex pools have 2 inlets in the middle of the wall to the filter. One of mine has about a 1 1/2 - 2 in crack below from ice damage. I'd be happy just to put a plate of some kind over it to just eliminate that inlet. Any ideas of what to try? Thanks
  2. I'd like to leave it open while swimming season is in and then do something with it. Why do most places say that you can't leave an empty pool up all winter? I know that if the pool leaked out with ice on top of the cover it would collapse but what if no cover? I'd like to leave it up with no cover and just drain it below the skimmer. Then if it leaks out, it leaks out.
  3. I have a 24 ft pool that has ant holes in the bottom. Leaks 1/2" a day. I'm really not in the mood to take the whole thing down this winter. I'd rather leave it up and just replace the liner in the spring (upstate NY). Most likely the water will all leak out over the winter. As long as it's still all together except for possibly little or no water, is it going to collapse on me? I know it would collapse if it was covered and the water leaked, but what if it was not?
  4. If waste is coming back out the eye, you're filter is broken somehow or you're not using it right
  5. Thanks for the feedback Pathfinder. I'll move forward with replacing the wall. I'll probably have to put in a claim with my home owners because the builder's stance is that this was an act of nature. I can't see spending money pursuing legal action but I may try calling the builder and see if he'll chip in. Can anyone give me a ballpark price what this type of repair should cost? The pool is 24ft round and the wall height is 52" (Vogue Impact) Thanks again Pathfinder. I'd just pound it out and so be it. I don't think there would ever be a problem as it's not that big a dent.
  6. Did you let the pool leak out on it's own (as opposed to draining) This will at least let you know at what level in the liner the leak is at. That's what I plan on doing the next few weeks. But if I don't find the leak, I probably will not reinstall until spring.
  7. In the spring when I was pretty sure there was a leak, I drained the pool down to about an inch deep and examined every sq inch of the bottom on my knees. TWICE!!!! Nothing. I also washed down the sides really good with a cloth looking for something wrong. TWICE!!! Nothing. No erosion as a leak would cause.
  8. I realize that if the pools drains (leaks out), the liner will not be usable again. I don't see what else I can do if I can't find the leak. I'll buy a new liner in the spring and redo the sand underneath.
  9. If you put a pool cover on a pool with no water in it, it's DEAD!. This is why it's so important not to have a leak when you put the cover on for winter. If you have a slow leak, all the ice that builds up around the edges under and on top of the cover will collapse into the pool (where there should be water holding it up) destroying it. I had it happen about 5 yrs ago. This is what it looks like. The cabled cover pulls the top of the wall in until it fails.
  10. I have a 24 ft above ground with a leak. Absolutely no luck in finding it for some time now. I would like to let the water leak out on it's own after swimming season ends in a couple weeks here in NY. Hopefully will find it that way. If I find that I end up with an empty pool, is it ok just to leave it up all winter with no water in it.
  11. If you mean that the liner is not tight against the wall for a foot below the water line, a lot of times that might mean you have a leak in the wall. I think you'd better dismantle and get it leveled up again with a rebult cove too. If the pool collapses, it will cost you a new one.
  12. You need to take those pictures straight to the person you bought it from. They are responsible for the idiots that installed it. That pool will collapse!!!! Hopefully you'll get the water out of it before that happens. The supports should have all had blocks and backfill is a nono. Let us know what happens. Good luck
