  1. Well, I stand here again a stumped man, everything looked great. I hooked it up to the hose, looked great. Turned on the pump - rotation, check, stop, check, counter rotation, check, feet wiggling, check...All systems go. Drop it in the bottom of the pool. Nothing... doesn't move, feet don't wiggle... So in a nutshell, works fine suspended, but put on bottom it seems like it just "sticks" there... Pressure was adequate according to the little meter they send with it. Then I ran at uberhigh pressure and really low pressure, makes no difference.... I have been all through thi unit and i cant pinpoint what it is... Anyone have any experience with this?
  2. I finally after forever opened it up and did the work. Behind the little paddlewheel, there is a gearbox which opens and closes the water intake for the rotation mechanism. There was a little piece of trash in the gears. kept the rotation mechanism intake open, so it never closed and moved straight it just rotated....cleaned out the trash, put the gears back and voila
  3. I'm running a Hayward Pool Vac Ultra. I have measured suction and it is adequate, and the pool vac worked for quite some time successfully. It has stopped working completely. The feet still wiggle, and it rotates a little and twists up the hoses, but does not maintain its normal motion. There are a number of parts replacement kits on the internet and I am trying to choose the correct one. I am no sure if i need just a lower replacement which does not contain a gear box, or a more extensive rebuild. Any Ideas?
  4. What is this stuff? I'd think its rust, but why would it deposit here and nowhere else and its near nothing metal? I can scrub it with a wire brush and it will come up a little, but not very well. I'm afraid I'm going to damage the pool surface if it keep at it with a wire brush. Any idea what this is or how to get rid of it? Is this some kind of algae? How do you bleach away dark stains on a pool surface? Any help would be greatly appreciated. http://s704.photobucket.com/albums/ww46/ro...nt=IMG_0190.jpg
  5. hi, Im new to the forum. I have a question. I am looking to replace a 200 sq foot cartridge filter. (in Ground Chlorine pool) I think the filter i have may be overkill. My pool is around 12000 gallons, maybe a little less. I have a 2hp pump. I am not the wealthiest cat on the planet and i am looking to go as inexpensive as possible without being cheap. I still want to go with a cartridge filter. My question is, how does one choose the filter? Could I go with like a hayward c751 or c900 or 1200? They have significantly less surface area on the filter but nonetheless turnover the correct amount of water... Also, if there is a 1.5 in pipe and the rest of my stuff is 2" can i just neck it down or will that be bad? Also, what is FIP and SKT relating to pipe types? Whats the deal? Any Advice? thanks in advance
