Prior to purchasing our tub,we wet tested various models and configurations. I ultimately went with a 2003 Caldera Geneva Utopia. It has a lounger,which I throughly enjoy! I can adjust the pressure from the jets via diverter valve,and/or air/venturi valve. I happen to like alot of pressure/force from the jets,whereas the wife is the opposite,she likes it wimpy lol.
I would suggest,if your vanity isn't an issue,to WET TEST any and all considerated spas. As you will be using it 99.99999% in a wet fashion(grin)it only makes sense to see what and how it will feel etc.
Lastly,as someone else mentioned,having a lounger does take up a tad of space,so consider that,if you might be using the spa as a party/entertaining type tub.

Ever since I installed the new ozonator parts,the water quality has been outstanding!
I can definately tell a difference from before,and after.
Installing the rebuild kit,was one of the best purchases I've made for my tub.
I highly suggest to other peeps,to use an ozonator,and to rebuild/install a new 1,every 3-4 years!!!
The ozonator in my spa is a Del-CD 50,which is a Corona discharge system. My understanding of it is,it's somewhat like lightning,and disinfects/kills bacteria.(correct me if I'm wrong) Having a working/functional ozonator aids in chemical usage,and provides peace of mind in regards to getting cooties from your spa.

I keep mine at 101,which is perfect for I. The wifey likes it a little lower,she prefers it at 98-99. To feel warm/hot,it has to be hotter than your core body temp,which for most peeps is 98.6.
Our pool currently,with no heater,is 90-92 degrees. We live in Florida,and during the summer months,our pool almost feels like a bathtub. Alternating between the pool and the spa,when entering the pool after using the spa,the pool will feel refreshing/cool.
It's a personal preference as far as temp,but it being a "hot" tub,why not use it as such I.E. temp hotter than body temp lol.

Yea I saw one online,which goes for about 11 bucks. It's a one time use,unless no ozone is detected,then you can use it again at a later date.
Smells different than prior to replacing guts,and if my memory serves me well,it smells like it did when I first purchased the spa,in 03.
I'll assume it works,and monitor chemical usage.

Yes,there is a slight trace of a plastic burnt wire smell,when lifting the cover off. I also smell it very slightly,when soaking in it.

I just recently installed a new ozonator in my spa. The unit hums,and I do see tiny bubbles coming from the discharge/circ pump. Is there a way to truly tell if the unit is generating ozone? Is there a certain smell that's ommitted?

I would be more concerned over "voltage drop" in regards to the thickness of wire you're using.
If your 8/3 wire is in a short run,I wouldn't trip over it
How long is the run,the 8/3 wire,from the main to your spa?

What real purpose is a HOA? Anybody who would set on that comittee has to be screwed up. I was in a community in Boulder like that, and NEVER AGAIN. It is hard enough with the building department and all their confusion.
At least that HOA,had the smarts,to boot your butt out of the community!

We put in both rodent steel screens and bug seals (fiberglass screen) on our spas and seal the floor with ABS. Anyway, you can buy a mouse repeller for about $11 and put it in the spa. The problem is that mice sometimes will eat away at the foam and make dug out nests under full foam spas that are on decks or with any gaps under them. They like the warm home a little foam cave makes.

Zim forgot to mention.....he also installs a continious running noise,from 1 of his CaVeNhEaD tracks. Scares and kills all sizes of rodents.

Not sure if this is relevant to the topic at hand but...... I had a buddy working at the Master spa plant in Ft. Wayne IND a few years back. The short of it......He wasn't impressed in the least!
If it makes ya happy to own a Master spa,more power to ya!

I also would concur that between the 2 Sundance is the better product. IMO there are better out there than Sundance also.
Roger,if money was no object,and you wanted the best therapy tub money could buy,what would you purchase? Also,along the same lines,as far as bells and whistle spas,which would you purchase?

Hay All,
I posted a week ago about getting a new spa. I was leaning tward a Ca-spa Avalon 857B until we tried a Sundance Palermo and it felt right for us. Now that we have the spa we are looking at the Pool deck on which it will be placed and it is not level (slight slope for drain). The dealer is shipping and setting up the spa (including shim leveling) and maintains the warrentee of the spa and his set up, so I am not worried about my situation, however in my search for solutions I came acros this:

Pretty expensive,if you ask me lol. If your pad is say 80 sq ft.......gonna cost you about 1600 bucks,just for the material. As Chas said,other ways of doing it cheaper.

There never has been anything wrong with the Phoenix factory. It is orgainzed and they follow some excellent techniques for making shells and the wooden cabinets are the best there is right now.
So Zim,is this another 1 of your lies,or is your memory fading? What can you comment about,regarding the fire the Phoenix plant had,a few years back?

You know that I actually was trying to be friends with you when you came to the new forum, but you could not keep your posts civil as you do here.
Just because I think you spent way too much money on way too little product is not a reason for you to constantly attack my good character, which by the way clean of any crimes and any wrongdoing to anyone.
I have live my life according to the rules set forth in the Bible. People are always attacking me for my ethics, because I attack them for their lack of ethics.
I can stand tall in knowing that the spa industry has not tainted my integrity, no my ethics. Actually my resolve to clean up the industry of the lies is even stronger than ever. Because you can see the results of their lies, sitting in the back yards in people's homes. My son makes a living fixing those things.
When people sit around and make judgements about me, they should really study my life, because it is an interesting one, in which at each point where the choices were to go against the truth, I chose the truth. I chose the truth, even when it would have been better to lie. My mother and father taught me to always be truthful. It is the best gift that I have ever received. My mother had "radar" and when I tried as a child to lie to her to avoid getting in trouble, she always knew and punished me more for the lying than for what I was lying about. She only physically punished me once, when I cut school with this other kid when I was about 8 years old. My dad never laid a hand on me ever.
In all honesty Zim, I believe you can't handle the truth,or someones opinion. If you recall,your wife Sandy wanted me to respond,and give her an answer,in regards to your mental condition. I did so,gave examples etc. I was honest as far as your music,and to this day,my ear and opinion....it's downright NASTY!!

If you happen to be the handyman type,most repairs if and when they arise,you could handle on your own. So in that regards,looking at a used tub with zero warranty,is a route you could persue.
In the 8 years of ownership of my spa,I have fixed various things,and found parts via online.
Ultimately,I would suggest going with a name brand,as they are built to a higher quality compared to Ebay tubs etc. You'll find they last longer,have high quality parts,and can find parts for em etc.
FYI.....I have had zero issues with my "Caldera" shell,which is now over 8 years old. When I initially purchased the spa,1 of the things that impressed me with the spa,and Calderas product line,was the way they manufactuer the shells. When you go look at spas etc......where the lip of the shell overlaps the siding of the tub....try taking a look at that. You'll have to bend down and look up,or,turn your head upside down and look underneath lol. Visually looking at the edge of the shell,will give you an idea of how it's made I.E. layers involved,thicknesss etc etc.
