  1. I would strongly advise buying the kit from a local dealer. It will save you headaches in the long run. The reason for this is if you buy off the net & run into problems who is going to be there in person to provide technical assistance. 95% of dealers I know & myself are less than willing to assist some random product purchase just for the simple fact that when issues arise we get the blame for something thats not even our product once we work on it. Another reason for buying from the dealer is the liner, your initial vision & drawing may change during the build once you start digging ie; ground water/bedrock so your finished pool dimensions may not be the same as the drawing. Buying online your liner is shipped with the package & no chance of revisions. Buying from a dealer you can have the liner ordered once you know for sure what your finished dimensions are going to be. Since you are in S.Ont you have fast turn around times & every major pool kit maker in the region. You have the option of Kafko, Foxx Pools, Taylor(Megna) Pool Products, Highbury Pools, Pleasureway Pools etc... Most if not all will have a dealer in your area, research these brands & take a pick all mentioned above are of great quality.

  2. Intex is basically a pool toy company & the pools are designed only to last a few seasons(disposable). Its probably at the stage where its starting to seriously degrade. So instead of beating your head against the wall trying to continually fix it, dispose & upgrade if you can. They are what they are, you'll often here of 20+yr above ground pools but it will never be an intex.

  3. Im gonna guess its something more solid with leaves wrapped around it as I have never seen leaves even in bunches clog a line. An undissolved chunk of tablet is as mentioned is a definite possibility. The worst case ive had is acorns in the skimmer line & I had to use a Rigid drum auger to break up the blockage.

  4. Depending on how the concrete was initially done(thermal brake or direct pour) all has an effect on a final decision on the prep.Every contractor has different methods. Go to a paving stone wholesaler that doesnt do installs & ask what their preferred method would be. For pool decks I strongly recommend using polymeric sand instead of regular sand as weeds cant penetrate it and it doesnt wash away in the rain or blow into the pool.

  5. The questions would be, are you in winter climate or southern & how long will the time be until it sold. If you are somewhere cold then it needs to be winterized in which Coasts are a PIA to do. If your somewhere warm the pipes should still be blown to prevent stagnant water.

  6. I'll +1 with the glass. I like it personally but i dont really mention in forums since when eco smarte comes up, topics tend to get washed out with their other products. With glass you also need a bed of washed pea gravel to cover the laterals. Not a fan of the zeo at all I find you waste a ridiculous amount of water when initially put in & I have found it doesnt really do a better job filtering

  7. It sounds like you may have either a cracked stand pipe or Lateral in your sand filter. I recommend having your sand changed every 5 yrs. Since you will have to remove the sand to inspect the components might as well install new stuff. Too be sure buy a skimmer sock then vacuum up the "silt" then take a look at it if it isnt dirt ,you will for sure have to inspect the inside of the filter.

  8. I am going to have to disagree. IMHO if we are talking about the same site http://lazboyspas.com/index.html it has a nice design and flows extremely well. While the prices are MSRP which is a grossed up full list , it doesn't mean anything. It is just a base price from which the dealers receive there discount from.

I have had customers come into my store and tell me that a Beachcomber , Dynasty or a Hot Spring is listed at $15,000 and they can have it for $8999

I have various price 2010 price lists for most of the major manufactorer's and all of there top models are around the same price.

Flows really well?? Its not even complete. Thats why when you try to get real info from the site http://lazboyspas.com/under-construction.html comes up. The only Beachcomber that is listed at that price would be a 750SE tub and dealer cost is more than 10K so I dont believe the hearsay on that.

  9. Sorry, its been like a year having to remember about Hydropool ownership structure before their "debt elimination"(bankruptcy) with Kilmer Capital Fund. It can be found with this topic from this forum a year ago www.poolspaforum.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=23621 & I will stick to the statement of used to build good tubs a few years back I worked for a dealer that was doing close to 100 hydropool tubs a year for multiple years then it started to be warranty issue after warranty issue. That dealer no longer carries them. Lazy boy is a marketable name nothing else the moulds look the same from when tatumn had them IMO they have a cramped design & are nothing special. When you pick up someones throw aways its highly unlikely you can make a success out of it. The people who will buy are the ones who dont do their research before buying. Once an educated consumer sees they were already a collapsed brand they'll pass. It really seems they will be "quality" when they cant even launch a complete website.

  10. Lets not use the word integrity since hydropool was sold to a private equity firm a couple yrs ago. The lazyboy name has already been tainted when tatumn picked them up then folded. Now this group decided "hey lazyboy is a recognizable named, we can make money just by licensing." Now Hydropool/lazyboy(licensing in name only) is nothing now but a shell of a company that used to build good tubs.

  11. Sorry to hear that I guess SIMA is getting worse or they have made so many bad deals that they have been flooded with a tonne of phone calls from pissed off customers & are now ignoring the problems. It cant be that doesnt have the parts considering they are still making spas everyday. When I managed a company that joined SIMA a few years back they always had a truck coming from Cal with parts every week. But in reality the group is a joke.

  12. Pricing is always subject to geographic location. Pay for the upgrade on the filter. If you're not building a deck around the pool ASAP then an A frame is ok if you are then ask for a switch to a deck ladder. A must would be to upgrade from that 8mm blanket as they are garbage IMO as a pool builder. Get a price to include a solar roller as well.
