  1. I have recently( about 6 months ago) purchased a vaccum for the pool at walmart. I bought the hose as well. I am haveing the hardest time hooking this vaccum and hose up to my current pool pump. This is the pump I have Model 633 --2500 GPH I have this on a Intex 16x48 above ground pool. and it does a great job. I purchased a hose and vacuum from walmart and the hose is http://www.aquachem.com/layout/thumb_lg_vaccum_hose_1x26.jpg is there anyone out in pool land that could help me connect this to my pump. I am willing to do this off the list and through personal emails. even if I could find a diagram or something, i am desperate... Misty sweetjrgal008@comcast.net
  2. I have a 16x24 above ground pool that I just simply adore. Havent had any real problems with it. We are having a bit of a problem though deciding to close the pool or not. Here in Sunny South Florida, its just to cold to get into pool. Pool temp is around 69. I have a oak tree in the back yard that is spreading the lovely pollen stuff all around. and most of this is on the bottom of my pool. I have just tried to sweep all the leaves and debry that is at the bottom to one side so that I can get it with the vacuum when I have the guts to stick my hand in the freezing water. My question is, can I put a gallon of chlorine in it and then place a pool cover on it until its time to open and swim again? Also can I run the pump while the cover is on? Hopefully someone can help me. Misty
  3. I have had crystal clear water since we stopped swimming in the pool in October. We have run the pump about 2 times a month and everything has been fine. I did however have the solar cover on and now bottom of pool is light green. any suggestions???? On way to Wally world to purchase some new filters and some cholorine. POOL STORE CLOSED UNTIL APRil. Can you believe that..... oh well thank heavens for walmart. Misty
  4. Well just an update on the pool. I did shock the pool with 2 1/2 gallons of chlorine and a bag of vinyl shock and within 2 days pool was back to normal. Thanks for all the help. Misty
  5. Forgot about Photobucket. But this is our pool 18x48 with a new 2500 intex pump filter. Love it
  6. here is my pool. We are still reocovering after Typhoon, I mean Tropical Storm Fay Picture posted here. http://picasaweb.google.com/sweetjrgal008/...603297462279266
  7. Im going to go to the pool store tommorow and take a sample. I have never been good at testing and dont want to spend money on something that I know that I am never going to get. Kids were in the pool today(2ish) and the water is clearing up. I have cleaned the filter twice today and getting ready to do it again after sun goes down. Can you tell me what the acid does to the pool. My pool place tells me to add this after a heavy rain... But scared to since I am putting so much chlorine into it. Misty
  8. Delete postReport this postEdit postReply with quote I have just been able to get into my pool to start cleaning up after the effects of the Tropical Storm that is sweeping around Florida. after vacuuming my pool it got semi-cloudy. Had a feeling this was going to happen. So after vacuuming, I ran pump for about 2 hours and then washed out the filter. This morning got up and pool still a little cloudy, so I used Vinyl Shock in it and I am awaiting the effects that might have on it. I did pour in a whole 2 1/2 gallon jug of chlorine in the pool. I have just purchased at the pool store. 2 yellow jugs of chlorine and a gallon of Muratic Acid. I did get to test the water before adding shock and the levels were out of this world I only have a three way test kit from Aqua Chem and these are the readings. CH: above 5.0( it turned a very bright Orange) BR: Above 11.0(same things turn Bright Orange) PH was around 8.2 I have a 18x42 pool with a Intex 2500 GPH(love It) What should i do? This is the first year we have had a pool with a storm around. Misty
  9. yes please let me know what site. I have a vaccuum head that I purchased from walmart along with the hose. But I have no where to attach it to my pool. I thought attaching it to the filter(where the water goes in) and see if that would help. I guess I would need a new filter so that there is nothing holding it back. I was reading on here about some things and I went to walmart and got a test kit of my own. its only a 3 way though. Going to go and test the water now. This is what I have on hand in my possession right now: Alkanity plus by Aqua Chem 3' stablizer tablet for floater Box of borax 3 gallons of ultra regular bleach 1 gallon of chlorine Skimmer Net for my skimmer and pool shock for vinyl
  10. My sheet for my test says the following: This is from the pool store. Chlorine:.5 PH: 7/15,000 Alkalinity:190 Calcium:200 Stablizer:0 I went to the local pool store and spent about a fortune on stuff for it. I was low on everything due to the recent rain that we have been having. I had to add 1 gallon of murdaic acid, 1 gallon of cholrine, 2 packages of ph increaser(almost like ash) and 1 gallon of instant water conditioner.
  11. This is the 2nd year that we have had a above ground pool. I purchased a 16x48 pool from samsclub and came home to an easy setup. Water and everything was perfect for almost 2 months. went away on vacation for the weekend and forgot to set timer and pool was green(we left the solar cover on). Ever since then the water has been extremly cloudy. 2 days ago was the first time that i have seen the bottom of my pool in over a month. I vaccuumed it with my handy water hose powered vaccuum and got quite a bit of stuff. have done this for 2 days now and its still cloudy. pool is shocked weekly with aqua chem vinyl pool shock from walmart. 2 gallons of chlorine a week and a stablizer tablet is in floater. I wash out filter every day when i get home from work and its dirty... Is there any help for me out there, I am not good with all these numbers that the pool has to be at. I use the little test sticks and compare colors on the back. can anyone help me? I would love to have my pool sparkling clean again. Misty from Florida
