  1. I need some help on this pool. the house was rented and at the begginning of last summer i had the pool in great shape. I showed the renters how to take care of it, but it appears that they did not. This is partially my fault for not checking in on it, but i assumed that they would take care of it. The pool is terribly green and i have not seen the bottom is forever. I found a lot of random things in the bottom of the pool while leaf netting such as a pooper scooper for dog, several bricks, a couple of plastic shopping bags, and some fire crackers. Though it does not appear that the pool is damaged. the pool is about 13,000 gallons. Vinyl the filter is a Sta-Rite 3 Cartridge filter. Here are my numbers. Could you please offer some advice? Free Chlorine: 0.2 ppm ( i know this is low, working on that) Total Chlorine 1.0 ppm Combined Chlorine 0.9 ppm pH: 7.7 Hardness: 310 ppm Alkalinty: 57 ppm Cyanuric Acid: 10 ppm Copper: 0.81 ppm (this is high i have heard and i need to drain some to fix)
  2. Hey, Just to start things off, you guys are awesome! Yall have helped me so much with "my pool" When i say my pool, i don't really mean my pool. The pool i refer to actually belongs to some really good friend of mines parents. but his dad is a pastor and has moved to another church in another city. they live in a house owned by the church there and keep the house here for the future. So, I take care of the house, including the pool. We have talked about converting to a swg and i have some questions. what is the best brand of swg. does brand really matter. where in the system should the swg be installed. (i.e. before filter, after filter, etc.) how ofter do you add salt? anything else i might need to know as we plan on doing this project ourselves. you might also need to know that the pool is about 13,000 gallons. the filter is a Sta-Rite 3 Cartridge filter. thanks guys, jake
