  1. There was a Viking guy close to my area who was very experienced in FG pools who had installed thousands of pools (Viking as well as others). I had heard through some of his old contractors he had done a few of those in floor cleaning systems and it was pretty much a disaster. I have never done one personally but I agree with everyone else on this post that it looks like a maintenance nightmare if something goes wrong. In my opinion for what an auto pool cleaner costs and how well they work I would spend the money else where and get the auto pool cleaner.
  2. The bid sounds low to me but one thing you should do before you sign the contract is check out the company. First check the Better Business Bureau then ask for a minimum of 3 references and CALL THEM, finally see how long the company has been in business if it is less than a few years I would be skeptical of giving a large payment up front. Hope this helps
  3. If you used tile the manufacturer recommended or a glazed pool tile the acid will not hurt it. Also make sure you have a silicone grout as well this also will not be effected by acid. Sorry I should have mentioned this first but every tile job on a pool should be done this way.
  4. Pour Muriatic acid directly on the calcium but do not breathe it in or get it on anything that is not plastic or fiberglass. I have done this numerous times works great.
  5. I have installed pools from San Juan, Aloha, Viking, Barrier Reef, American, and Leisure and I believe by far the best pool on the market is a Viking pool. Not saying all of the others are bad (some are better than others) but Viking is the only one that boxes in their coping to reinforce the pool and when you lift them with a crane their sides don't pull like squeezing a plastic cup.
