  1. I replastered my pool last spring. Plaster holding well, but kids are complaining that the walls and floor are rough. I compared the texture to friend's pool and I agree with the kids that texture is rough. I think I did not brush the walls and floor properly after the pool was replastered. Pool is now drained plus I got an angle grinder and statred sanding this past weekend ... I am 1/4 of the way done... but I am exhausted. The texture is rough like my driveway. I added quartz to the replaster, and the quartz makes the texture rough... When I grind, the extra quartz on the top is smoothed out. Is there a faster or better way to try to get the pool smooth? ps- replaster person phone has been disconnected. Thanks for your help guys. Please help- at the pace that I am going I will finish by August....
  2. I had 3M Blue Quartz put it in my pool... The percent ratio you mix with the plaster determines how "dark" the pool will be. Standard is 10% mix ratio with plaster. The rough spots are probably keeping the quartz from showing, but quartz will not change in color... 3M guarantees this product from ever fading- and I doubt that it would get darker with time. The plaster should not crack since it has already cured for 3 weeks and they should have put in 1/2 inch of plaster if is a new pool. PS- How did they sand the pool plaster underwater? Do you remember what they used? (I am having a similar problem)
  3. I have some rough spots in my plaster. The plaster was recently resurfaced, but was not 100%- sanded down to remove all the rough spots. I have just a few spots that I would like to sand down myself... pool is full and balanced - kids are out of school- empty and refill is not an option. Has anyone ever tried... a) pumice stone? wet sand paper on sanding block + muscle 24-35 grit... c) pneumatic sander (cheap $20-$30) I can throw away after use... (will the sander even work under water?) enlighten me and reply-
  4. empty pool, clean pool with muriatic acid (home depot sells 2 gallons for $10 - you can mix the acid with water 3/1 and it still works great. before you go cleaning the pool- search "acid wash pool" in you tube... some guy has a video showing you how to use the acid... BE CAREFUL! ACID IS VERY DANGEROUS! I just acid washed and replastered my pool two weeks ago... I just used a metal watering can and make sure you use a mask! that green stuff is just gonna keep coming back cause it is probably stuck / hiding in the moon's surfaces... after the plaster is white as can be...plaster the craters- refill and enjoy summer.
