  1. What a wonderful show last night! Hope everyone caught it.

Well, here in NH it wasn't actually a 'show' ... but I was able to catch sight of a couple meteors from the comfort of my tub!

I was disapointed with the show. Around 12:30 I thought, what could make this better? Oh ya, watch from the hot tub!

North Stratford has no ambient light, by the way Linda! Plus, last weekend Northern NH had no clouds! But the meteors were not really coming down as I have seen in the past.

  2. Think of five of your heaviest friends in the tub with you. Each brought a spouse that will be standing next to the spa. And don't forget they will have kids running around. Then add this weight to the tub and water calculation.

If you are going for a builder, good! Not just a guy that you know that builds decks, but a licensed contractor. Also look at getting an engineer to sign off on the plan. This will transfer the liablility away from you.

  3. I called the plant in Thorsby -- now, let me explain - my dealer is GREAT -- no problem, but I called Thorsby and had a question, and because it was after hours here in Massachusetts, (6 pm EST) and they're two hours behind us out there, I talked to the tech and got my answers. If it were during the eastern time zone work day, I would have called my dealer.

Again - MY DEALER IS EXCELLENT! It was just timing.... and while I had the questions on my mind , thought I'd just call out to the plant because someone would be there at that time.

I might add -- if I had any suggestion or comments for Arctic Spas (James K - if you're here, please take note) -- this is not a complaint.

Go out to Youtube - do a search on Arctic Spas. There are some EXCELLENT videos there. No, they are not Hollywood productions, but they're very straight-forward. There was even one where the tech is trying to explain low-level programming -- he made a mistake - tells the camera person "ah, shut it off" and then he comes right back with the correct display on the panel ... these videos are GREAT .... and Arctic should probably put them on a DVD and give it to customers when they buy.

I can't wait to get home tonight and search! Thanks, dude. Oh, and your dealer is excellent, I agree. I'll be going there next month for some salt.

  4. Hi!

Seriously, I did a lot of research on decking before we had ours built this summer. Trex is junk. Azek is good and you may want to consider CorrectDeck CX as well. That is what we chose and we are very happy with it.

I didn't want to say this, but since you went first, I have to concur. PVC free and made of stronger polypropylene, I went with CX, which has the antimicrobial coating. It is slippery, but not too slippery with snow and ice. I have to go back and look at the sq ft cost.

  5. My Tundra was delivered August '08. I have not needed any support since. I am close to two hundred miles from my dealer and haven't needed him.

I will have to replace my AquaTemor jack. Even though my dealer went out of business, I am still able to contact him and he will still make the trip, if I need him.

Too bad for your experience. Mine is totally opposite. I bought Arctic for their quality and reliablility. I am not disapointed.

  6. :D The tub is fantastic....especially just turning everything off, no noise and watching the stars in the night sky with my wife.

    Merry Christmas to everyone!!!

The number of jets is over rated. After 15 months with our Arctic spa Tundra, we find the most enjoyment with lights and pumps turned off- simply enjoying the tranquility of a star lit nightsky.......

    Merry Christmas everyone

I keep turning the heater down as the tub cools, just to keep the noise off. Love my Tundra!!!

I am looking forward to tonight's soak in beautiful Northern New Hampshire!

  7. We were just contacted by the spa set up team. Scheduled for delivery on December 9 at 7:30 in the morning. The electrician is all booked to hook it up on the 9th as well. Spa school is set for this Saturday.

Should be a really great Christmas surprise for our kids and their spouses coming home for Christmas.

We are thinking of putting a temporary shelter over the hot tub till spring when we can build a proper structure. Anyone have any suggestions?

We get a fair bit of snow in the winter so it has to be snow load rated. We are thinking of one of those temporary shed structures we can get from Canadian Tire.

Just brush the snow off before you get in - personally I'm looking forward to sitting in my new tub with snow all around, and looking up at the stars - but that's just my preference!

I totally agree!! We are in Mississauga and I had originally thought we'd need some kind of a structure. Now that we've been the proud owners of an Arctic Summit for 2 weeks, I can honestly say it would take a lot of the pleasure away if we were housed in. It's perfect just having it out in the open....nothing like a starry night to look straight up at!!! ^_^

I like watching the snowflakes come down. If you have NorthernLights, use the red light setting. It doesn't dielate the pupils and ruin the ambience.

  8. Please don't underestimate frost heave - this will move anything, including the weight of a tub!

True that! First it creeps in from the side and then heads into the ground. I've heard about somebody walking over their sewer pipe and the compression caused the frost strata 48 inches into the ground and froze the pipe.

  9. My dealer went out of business last winter. He gave me one jar of aroma therapy stuff when he delivered the tub. It was apple and I don't like it. He had other Arctic scents in the showroom, but I now need to buy this over the internet and can't find it. There was also the thick cotton swab that goes into the air intake that I would like to replace. You see, in the Arctic the scent is not put into the water but on a swab that the air passes through.

    What does everyone else use?

  10. The Arctic dealer is around 30 miles from me, the Jacuzzi around 15. They've both been around for awhile, and I acknowledge that service is important.

I have to drive around 30 minutes to the Arctic dealer, R&R Spas in Littleton, Mass. Good folks and seem to know their stuff!

My tub is located in northern NH. I go there on the weekends so I wanted to get something reliable. I had a breaker trip after we lost power last week. Three days without power and the tub was at 92. I normally leave the tub at 100. Ambient was Low 26 high was 45.

I have had my tub for over a year and am glad I chose Arctic. Two weeks ago I did a re-fill. This is my third fill and everytime I run into something different! This time, HIGH chlorine numbers. Last time, iron in water oxydizing(turned water rust color). First time, no issues. I'm getting pretty good at this.

I really have to throw some gratitude to this forum! Tom gets on top of anything Arctic. Nitro/Chem-Geek/Roger/spa_tech and a couple others that I missed, sorry, are a wealth of information. Oh ya, Hillbilly, my homeboy! Some of these guys promote their own product but not often and never to obstruct the real value they add to helping everyone enjoy a well maintained tub, thanks guys/gals!!!
