  1. I bought the same pool 3 weeks ago. I also bought a saltwater system and a bigger pump (a 4000gph). My husband cut a hole in the bottom of the skimmer box big enough for the pump fitting to fit into. He also cut the return hole big enough for the pump return hose. Hope this helps!! We have really enjoyed ours so far!
  2. I bought a 18x48 above ground pool from a local retailer. This is my first pool ever!! I don't know what i'm doing so please excuse my ignorance. I also purchased a saltwater system and a new 4000gph pump. After everything was installed I added the recommended 160lbs of salt and let it dissolve and then i ran the pump for 24 hours before setting the saltwater system. I have the saltwater system set to run for 7 hours every night. Temps where I am are averaging in the 90's everyday. My alkalinity and ph are very high so I added ph reducer. Ph hasn't budged. The pool has been up for about a week now. Since about the second day I have noticed brown dirt looking deposits on the bottom of the pool. Only on the bottom. I brush the pool twice a day and have been running the pump 24 hours. Last night I checked the chlorine and it was zero so I poured in a gallon of household bleach. This morning the chlorine level was sky high along with the ph and alkalinity. I am using test strips and OTO test kit. Please help!! My son is ready to swim but i'm not sure if the pool is ready for him!
