  1. The particles are of the "pasta" variety which is why I suspected skin. I have a pressurized filter system with a ring holding the basket against the filter. I have been using the same kind of filters as the original owner and they appear to work fine as they are usually in need of a good cleaning every 3 months or so. I have not changed any chemicals recently. I refilled the hot tub for the second time this week 2 nights ago, and did not see any particles. When I checked last night there were already visible particles when I turned on the pump. Tonight I was able to skim about 50 particles with my pool skimmer, and there are more to go. Thanks for your help
  2. Hello, I am new to this forum, but can tell that I will likely be back often. I currently have off-white particles floating in my hot tub and can't seem to get rid of them. Some of these particles are as big as a thumbnail, but don't seem to get filtered. I'm having difficulty identifying what the particles are, and my local store was not much help. Some background - last February we went down south, wife got a sunburn, and when we returned she hopped in the tub with peeling skin. Since that day I have not been able to get my hot tub clean. I have drained, scrubbed, vaccuumed, sanitized, strained all without results. We did not use it during the winter, but it was full and running. I have gotten the water tested (professionally) at various times, and everything seemed to be in order. The store owner told me that it was likely that the jets were disintegrating, so I bought new ones, but no improvement has been noted. I tried some of the advice for the white mold problem (heavy chlorine, run, drain, clean, repeat) 3 times this week alone, but within 24 hours I have floaties again. I have not seen any posts about excess skin in Hot Tubs, so I have to assume that normal maintenance takes care of this problem. I feel that I could drain and refill forever without ever getting rid of this problem. Since I don't know what the problem is, I can't risk using the Hot Tub in case a guest were to get ill or infected, nor can I tell them it is just skin "don't worry about it". I would appreciate any advice, as I am very close to giving up! Thanks
