  1. ____________________________________ Thanks for the reply... The cap is not shorted and is not open (shows a charging effect when metered) but not sure if the capacitance is correct. The motor and impeller spin freely. The cap is probably ok since I found out that the high speed part of motor works fine. Problem occurs when the low speed part tries to run. Sometimes it will start... but rarely. I'm about 99% sure that the low speed winding has a problem and have ordered a new motor/pump assembly. It was a bear to remove the motor/pump on this unit, as the rear two mounting bolts and nuts were rusted badly and frozen. There was hardly any room to get back there with a vise grip... took me three hours on just one of the bolts going 1/16th of a turn at a time. I cleaned the bolts up real good and will be using all stainless washers and nuts to hopefully ease the removal next time.
  2. ________________________________________ Yes... here it is (and thanks for the help) VITA SPA UNIT MOD: BIJOU SER: 32674311 TYPE: DX (believed to be type D15) HZ: 60 VOLT: 120 AMP: 15/41
  3. We bought an older (but excellent cond) used Vita-Spa D15 (120 volt) and enjoyed it for two weeks. Suddenly yesterday a loud humming sound started. The sound would last a second, stop for a couple minutes and then repeat. It may have been the over-temp tripping and then resetting... but not really sure. I unplugged the spa motor plug from the controller... noise gone... the motor or the controller is definitely the problem. The spa motor does not run for the low speed circulation and I am not sure if it will work in the high speed mode for the jets (haven't tried yet). The motor/pump can be turned manually with normal drag. Took the back cover off the spa motor to check the capacitor, governor & switch, connections, etc. Everything seems ok but I really need a schematic to figure out if the controller or the motor is the problem. Voltages going to motor from controller do not seem right... but it's hard to tell. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks, Robert
