Thank you for the information. I did leave the cover off today. Didn't notice much in the way of a change in color on the strip. Of course with the trees in "spring mode" i did get alot of buds and pollen in my nice clear water. Anyway, I guess I'll try the cover off tomorrow as well and get a better test kit as you recommended. Thanks again. Can't wait to get in...

Hello. New spa owner. Brought sample to local pool place. They gave me instructions to balance water. A week later I have Total Chlorine and Free Chlorine readings that are at the highest levels on the test strip. And a definite chlorine odor. What is the difference between Total and Free Chlorine and how can I fix this? Any help is appreciated.
