Hi, I am new to this forum and wanted to see if anyone out there has had a similar problem. I recently purchased a used hot tub (not sure of the make and model). When I finally got the thing hooked up, I noticed that the temperature reading on the control pad was way lower than the actual water temperature. I pulled the panel off in the front and started experimenting. I removed the themal sensor from it's housing and immediately saw the temperature read out drop. Sticking in the water, the temperature went right back up to where it was. The problem is that the reading on the display says the spa is at 60 degrees when my water thermometer says it is 108 degrees. Huge difference. I went to my local spa dealer and ordered a replacement sensor which should be in in the next couple of days. What strikes me as odd though is that I would imagine that either the sensor works or not. Period. I wouldn't believe that the temperature sensor would almost be 50 degrees off. Does it seem like a bad sensor, or am I looking at replacing the control unit? The control unit is a hydroquip C6200 series. Other than having to repair one of the pump motors everything else is great. I was hoping that maybe there was some sort of adjustment in the control unit that would let me offset the temperature by X degrees, but there doesn't appear to be anything like that on the unit. Right now the temperature is set at it's lowest possible setting of 59 degrees netting me an actual temperature of 106. I also found another temperature sensor that was located on the heating unit itself. For test purposes, I removed that sensor as well to see if it would impact the temperature read out. It did not. It works though as I put the sensor in a cup of hot tap water and it put the spa unit in a safe over heat mode which I would expect it to do as it sits on the heater.
