  1. It is a 2001. I've had good luck with it. How do you troubleshoot the circ pump with no water in the tub? (was -20 last night.....)
  2. Bump. I'm still thinking there may be another issue since the heater evidently froze. That's even before it got down to -15 last night, hopefully when I drained it waiting for the heater that I did OK. Seems to me you got a bad heater. Assuming your filters have been cleaned regularily and stayed clean (they can reduce flow)And your water chemistry is spot on or close. Then I would have to say you got a bad heater. They are a 5-10 year part. I guess your circ pump could be light on flow also. Several things could of caused the heater to freeze, if that's truely what happened??? I'm guessing that is the only culprit as it leaked (actually poured) out from around the end cap. I've been told by the local dealer that he has never had problems with the new style heater, thus blaming it on freezing. The local dealer does seem to be a bit of a car salesman so that's the best authority on Hot Springs locally so I guess I have to believe him. I am pretty meticulous keeping the tub and filters clean, keeping up with the water chemistry even though from time to time, I do leave town for a week to 10 days though.

  4. Went out Sunday to find Hot Springs jetsetter tub empty. I added water to diagnose and water was streaming along side of the heater which goes into the end cap that the O-ring is supposed to seal. The heater is about 2 1/2 years old. Took the heater out and the end cap was loose enough for me to pull out, I reassembled and it now drips - called dealer and he says the heater had to been exposed to freezing. I've never had problems with freezing before in more severe temps. Two things: What would cause the heater to freeze as my line of thinking indicates that if the tub is calling for heat, it obviously would not freeze? I would obviously like to troubleshoot the cause to avoid putting a new heater in and then having that go to pot. Is a circ pump in question? Secondly, the tubing that goes into the heater is getting a little brittle and was wondering if they make barb fittings so I can replace the tubing? One of the tubing goes into an PVC ell which I'm speculating is glued somehow then down into the fitting coming through the tub housing.
  5. If there is nothing wrong with it (which I doubt as they are good tubs). I'd jump on it.
  6. Another point that I've learned is to check out he mfgr's wiring schematics. Some do things a bit differently and needs to be done correctly. It's when you make some assumptions that comes back and kicks you in the a**.
  7. Thanks all. Now I need a bit of good weather so I can get to work on it. I emailed the HS dealer and he suggested I just drop it by and have him take a look at it. I truly appreciate his offer and that may be the answer even though I prefer to do everything myself as I'm a bit stubborn. I'll let you all know.
  8. Good afternoon from snowy Colorado. 1) I actually like the Moto-massage and totally agree to wet testing as we did and that's how we decided. 2) Filtration: my 2 cents is all do a pretty good job and chemical costs are minimal regardless. 3) If the tub is a quality product, the tub will outperform the guts. I would think any failure would occur during factory warranty period due to defect or, there would be some sort of incident that would cause it to crack (or whatever) that probably wouldn't be covered regardless. 4) Ozone: pro's and con's and I'm not going there. I personally have had good luck with HS and their parts availability.
  9. Yes, I would just try to replace the seal assembly. No reason it shouldn't last another 12 years. Very inexpensive and easy to do. I think the seal kit was around $12. After checking out some websites regarding the "how-to", it appears that I will need to take the impeller off, what are the chances of breaking that? And, I'm guessing I should also have an O-ring on hand in case I damage it taking the impeller housing apart ???
  10. First of all, my knowledge level shouuld be ranked "dangerous" I have leak around the shaft running from my pump into what I am guessing where the impellers are (round plastic housing). Are there replacement seals or am I looking at a replacement of the pump? 1998 Hot Springs Jetsetter, good shape - new heater, replaced heater relay board a few months ago. Any help is appreciated.
  11. I keep seeing about wet testing but its always one with water and its always the 6-7 seater, I did wet test a big size but thats not the model im buying. The Bullfrog is nice, but for me, the one you stretch out in was to small for my left leg and still use the left leg jets, other than that it is a nice spa. I will check out the marquis spirit, see if anybody close sells it. Keep the info coming, Thanks again, Rick I've had two Hot Springs, one Classic and my current Jetsetter which is about 12 years old. No problems, just one heater replacement. With that type of reliability and my personal experiences, I am biased toward you buying the Jetsetter. Good luck with whatever you choose, Randy
  12. Any source for schematics showing how certain jets are attached?
  13. I need recommendations for quality hot tub filters. The last one's I bought were a bit flimsy and already showing a bit of wear. I typically try to keep two sets for rotation. Thanks in advance.
  14. Yep...back at you. I really want to thank you for all of your assistance.
  15. Looks like the heater. I have voltage at the output of the board going to the heater. Just to make sure, would any other controls come into play?
  16. Thanks. I'll try to give it a shot tonight as I haven't figured out how dark it is then with daylight savings time. Really appreciate your help on this one. I'll let you know when I can check it out. At least glad it's 60 degrees in CO today.....
  17. I would make sure to let them see you when you drain your tub and water your trees, lawn or whatever. I always use the water to water things around the house - that may educate them that the chemicals are no big deal.
  18. Your heater has a separate breaker. First confirm that it hasn't tripped. I have power at the board. If you are talking about a circuit breaker at the panel, it is a 30A GFCI which i checked. Did not trip. Where do you have power at the board...where the power comes in? Make sure that you have 220volts (if the tub is set up 220volts) at the heater relay board where the heater wires are attached to. If not you need to replace the heater relay board. If so then: Kill power. Take the heater leads off from the board and check the heater for continuity. It should give you a reading of 9.0 - 12.0 ohms or somewhere around there. If it reads 'OL' (open line) or 0 then it's no good. Also, make sure you take a screw driver or something similar and punch right through that tape covering the high limit button and try resetting it again. Power coming in. Can't say I looked at the board but where is the relay board located? (I know stupid question) Thanks.

  20. Any help on steps to diagnose a no-heat on a 2001 Hot Springs Jetsetter. It has a No-Fault 6000 heater. Control board shows the heater is "on". It appears the reset button on the heater does not need reset. The plastic cover over the button only allows it to depress so much so I'm guessing that is fine. Circ pump seems to operate as it should. If you are familiar with them, there is not a lot of room in the compartment. Any help or steps would be appreciated.
