  1. Wow.... all you posters here are amazing Just refilled my tub, and got the dreaded ---- Oh oh now what. Some searching and 5 minutes with a hair dryer and viola back up and running. This forum just saved me a grand for sure. I will change out the caps when it get warmer and I can pull the board. Thanks to everyone.
  2. Hello Greenworks Did you ever find the taylor kit cheaper then what CL marketing was offering??? I can see from the net some sites are selling the 2006 kit for 49-69 dollars US. I don't feel good about giving a company 199 for the same product. The screw factor comes into play here. They seem to have you over a barrel but my choice seems to be 199 or nothing.... so far I have chosen to go the nothing route. Oh well I will keep looking. I'm in Calgary as well.... perhaps we should order 2 kits and pay for only 1 shipping cost?? Let me know.... I live in the NW Keith
  3. Thanks Richard For all your help Keith
  4. Hello I have a Bromine system, is the Taylor K2005 test kit the recommended unit for Bromine system?? Are there decent prices to be had anywhere in Canada. The local rep just quoted me $113.00 but on the net I can see prices in the $39.00 range. Any Mail order places that can ship to Canada?? Thanks Keith
  5. Thanks Richard I was getting a little worried that the PH was not reading correctly so I brought a sample in to work and tested it with a PH meter. The PH was 7.8, although I think this might be slightly high I don't think I will worry about it until I can get the bromine down. A quick question.... was my little stunt a good way to get a tub up to speed with a fresh fill. Should I just have added the Bleach and waited to add the bromine booster?? Any other tip using Bleach as a shock?? I'm going to have to start showing off after soaking... last night I woke up with a bad case of the itch's after a shower it felt better. Thanks for the help CHCPMAN Aka Keith
  6. My hot tub supplier gave me a plethora of chemicals that I used for the past several months. Knowing a little about water chemistry I finally began asking myself what all this stuff was, and did I really need it all. After all the more junk I put in the quicker I have to change the water. Sooo after reading here for quite a while I decided to get my chemical usage down to the bare required to maintain good water quality.... I decided to use bleach for shock along with my Bromine tablets. First I filled the tub with new water, added some bromine booster, I would assume this is just powdered bromine because it also stated you needed to shock it at the same time to get a bromine. My tub is 380 Gallons. I then used about 3/4-1 cup 5% plain bleach. Mixed it all up and took some readings. To my suprise the bromine/chlorine reading (Oto Test) was sky high way over the top yellow, and the PH was way to high as well. For the past several days I have been trying to get the PH down without sucess this is the third day of adding a few capfulls of PH decrease. To date I have seen no difference and am now starting to get a little worried. I have still be using the tub... might be a little high on the bromine but no problems so far. I figured the only way to get the bromine down was to use the tub. I also don't have any bromine pucks in my dispenser at least not until the reading comes down. The big question is did I do something wrong, and how can I get the PH down.... does a high bromine/chlorine reading effect the PH. As a side not the TA measured on the cheapy strips shows a level that is in the ideal range. I don't have any more accurate test then this. Any guidance would be a help. CHCPMAN
