  1. I am considering a spa in the platinum elite line (pelican bay or dove canyon), but cannot test any in my area. I am concerned that, because this line has 5 pumps compared to the typical 2 or 3 pumps, that the pump-noise would be much louder. Can you comment on the loudness of the platinum-elite spas? Are they any louder than, say, a jacuzzi 470? I definitely do not want my spa to sound like a boat. I tested a catalina-spas xl26000, and found the humming and whine of the pumps to be too much, and want to make sure the Artesian is not equally as loud.
  2. I have no personal experience with this malady, and I hadn't heard that a tub could make it worse before. Would you say that this is the normal response, or does this happen with only some folks who have MS? Heat/Temperature Sensitivity in MS From The MS Information Sourcebook, produced by the National MS Society. Many people with MS experience a temporary worsening of their symptoms when the weather is very hot or humid or they run a fever, sunbathe, get overheated from exercise, or take very hot showers or baths. For example, some people notice that their vision becomes blurred when they get overheated-a phenomenon known as Uhthoff's sign. These temporary changes can result from even a very slight elevation in core body temperature (one-quarter to one-half of a degree) because an elevated temperature further impairs the ability of a demyelinated nerve to conduct electrical impulses. Myelin is the protective sheath that surrounds and protects nerve fibers. The destruction of myelin causes the formation of plaques-abnormal areas-on the nerves that slow nerve impulses and produce the symptoms of MS. The 'Hot Bath' Test Used for Years to Diagnose MS For many years, the "Hot Bath" test was used to diagnose MS. A person suspected of having MS was immersed in a hot tub of water, and the appearance of neurologic symptoms or their worsening was taken as evidence that the person had MS. Symptoms Are Generally Rapidly Reversed It is important to remember that heat generally produces only temporary worsening of symptoms and does not cause more actual tissue damage (demyelination or damage to the nerves themselves). The symptoms are generally rapidly reversed when the source of increased temperature is removed. People with MS who are planning to move to a very warm climate should try to visit first. Plans may have to be changed if the weather seriously worsens MS symptoms. I hope this helps . . . .
  3. I heard from my dealer that the bottom of the spas is getting a thicker material, and that some of the jets are changing as well, to have a wider swath. i can't verify this though.
  4. If there are no side-folding models, then is there a cover-lifter which can drop the originalmcover out-of sight? I don't want my view blocked, and it seems the lifter i've seen still has the cover sticking way up in the air when folded. Are there other cover alternatives? Thanks.
  5. Warmth and heat can exacerbate ms symptoms, as you probably know . . .you may want to weigh the pros and cons, and talk with your dr.
  6. I am about to buy a Jacuzzi 400 series (480). I am interested in a spa cover and lift which opens to the side i.e. which folds over the side where the filters are. I do not want the cover to fold over the side of the waterfalls. Could any dealers or owners kindly e-mail me the available cover and coverlifts which fold on the side?
  7. Lights at Night: Sexy or Flat? 1) Dark shells don't reflect light well, so does the graphite shell at night look great with the water lights on? I am into 'setting the mood,' and wonder if the graphite shell with night-lights looks sexy, or so-so. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Do Black and Brown mix as well as Chocolate and Peanut Butter? I am thinking this combo will either appear stunning, or it won't go well together. Both Sundance and Jacuzzi offer this combo, but I have not been able to see it in person. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks! E.J. Graphite with Chestnut: Graphite with Wheat: From these pictures, I think the graphite/mahogany looks richer. This will be for a Jacuzzi 480/470 model. Has anybody seen these combos in person?
  8. Four Sundance dealers exist within a 30 mile radius of my home. In considering which dealer to purchase from, several questions have arisen regarding the dealer/client relationship. Question 1 If I required warranty repair, would the dealer who sold me the tub perform the service, or would the responsibility fall to the nearest dealer/service agent? Question 2 Do some dealers charge service fees to come out to one’s home, even if it involves warranty-related repair? Does the Sundance warranty allow for service charges for warranty-related work? (One dealer mentioned that he does not charge a service fee to visit one's home for warranty repair, so I ask this question) If I do not consider purchase price, does it necessarily matter from whom I purchase a Sundance spa? How can I check the reputation of local dealers?
