  1. So I have a leak that looks to be maybe in the middle of the tub. I see water making it's way out from under the tub. the tubs on a tile floor. I went around the tub with the sides off and pushed my hand into the foam at the bottom of the tub and the foam was dry, just at the very bottom on the floor it's wet, so the water doesn't seem to be coming from any high spots. Without being able to get to the middle of the tub, is there anything I can do. Seems to be a small leak. Thanks for any help.
  2. Hi Racenut, Thanks for the reply. Just so I have this right, you mean to leave the connections and not cut them. Just clean the connection (there is a lot of foam on these pipes), then use the epoxy and self-fuse tape? Not sure if I can get the foam off the non pvc pipe, looks to be somewhat flexible. I can clean some off, but I don't want to damage the hose. thanks
  3. Thanks for the reply. I like this idea. "There is a plumping extender which is a plastic part that would fit over the outside of the elbow that has a reducer that will fit over the flex tube. You would cut right where the flex tube meets the elbow. Glue just like normal PVC. That is the preferred method." But where do I get the extender? Is this something that home depot would sell? Thanks
  4. So I found this 2nd leak in my tub. Looks to be a flexible type hose was glued in a pvc fitting, it's leaking now. So I'm wondering if I could use JB Wld to fix it. But I would like to clean off the left over foam insulation before applying the weld. What can I use to clean it first and will JB weld be good to use? Also once the foam I pulled out dries, can I just stuff it back in. Thanks
  5. Hi all, I have a 7yr, Dimensions 1 Californian hottub. I have it inside in a sunporch on a tile floor. I noticed some water coming out the bottom, so I open the main front panel and saw one of the shutoff valve dripping water from the valve plunger (used to close the valve). Any idea how to replace this valve if I got a new one? Not sure how to remove it. I attached a picture of where the valve is located. thanks
  6. I'm looking at putting in an above ground pool in. An oval one. I've looked at the radients and they are nice, but are exspensive. I'm goign to be looking into dough boy pools also. But I was looking to bury part of the pool about 2ft, since that will save me from leveling out the area and then it will pretty much become flush with my exsiting deck. Would anyone have any thoughts on the pool manufactures? Is radient worth the $$. They said it's has a lifetime warrenty on the pool and a 15yr on the liner. Hopefully I will be talkign to a dough boy pool installer this week. But I'm just confused on what's a good pool. Thanks for any thoughts.
  7. I drained and cleaned my Horton and after the refill I'm finding these whites Scally stuff floating around, and also some black scaly stuff. This stuff is soft and I use a fish net to remove it all. But what is causing it. It keeps showing up. Should I add some type of cleaner and drain the tub again. Now sure what to do. Thanks for any help.
  8. I have a dimension 1 spa and it looks like there is no where to put it. That probably why D1 makes the Vision cartridge and charges $90.00 for it. Anyone know of a trick to use the Nature 2 instead? Maybe taking the nature 2 apart and putting it into a filter bag and putting that in with the filters? i just hate to spend $90 when I can spend $20 for the something. thanks
  9. My neighbor uses nature 2 and says he uses very little chlorine. Maybe a little every 2 weeks. He says it's because he uses Nature 2. Can this be corect? Is nature 2 all that? Also, I have a Dismension spa, can I use a nature 2 cartridge? thanks
  10. I use Chlorine (dichloro-s-triazinetrine) an dI also have Enhacned shcok (oxidizer) (dichloro-s-triazinetrine 58.2% w/41.8 other ingredients). Is the Oxidizer, MPS? If not. What excatly is MPS and where can I get it. thanks
  11. If I close the air dials then how does it mix the water? Also, what would be the blower? Thanks
  12. Now since aerating raises PH. When i add the muriatic acid i need to run the jets at high (30mins) to mix. Isn't that aerating, and won't that raise the PH. Basically fighting the acid that's trying to lower it?
  13. I checked the PH 7.4 and TA 30. Should I add chlorine, or work with the TA raising first? I was looking to get it up to 80-100. What is the best to use to raise TA. I have some Alkalinity increaser, or is baking soda better? Should I worry about CYA and CH t the moment. Since the tub is fresh, I just want to get off to a good start . Thanks
  14. I was reading nitro's method on water maintenance and it mentions, "pH should be between 7.2-7.8. Aerate to Raise pH. Acid to lower it". does this mean just opening the lid and running the pumps for a while? If so, how long do I run them for? thnaks
  15. You can get muriatic acid at home hardware/depot. Be VERY careful with it! That stuff is seriously toxic.. but works like a charm. My setup uses an ozanator, will this be alright. What precautions should I take when using it? How long do I have to wait from using it to going in the tub. Also, how much do I use, is there a reference chart or something? thanks for the helph
  16. Well I just check and th PH finally dropped to 7.6. TA is at 60ppm. As for the muriatic acid, can I get that Home depot or a hardware store. Also, is that a liquid, and do I just pour it in? Thanks
  17. My PH is at 8.0 and little more. I've been adding SPA qaurd PH decreaser for 2 days and the PH hasn't moved. Any thoughts?
  18. I've been reading Nitro's Initial startup procedure and it's mentioned to use borates. What is this and where can I get it? Thanks
  19. FC being zero is possible, ad this is bad. FC should never be 0. That means nothing is destroying bacteria. I like a FC of 3 to 5 when it peaks, and right around 1 or so when i use the tub. That's why I add bleach AFTER i soak, not before. Your PH is a bit high, ideally you want it to be from 72. to 7.6. If it's not, it can cause some various issues, and irritate skin/eyes. TA s a bit low, shoot for 70 to 120. 80 to 100 is really a nice place for me. CH may or may not be a factor. It depends on your other numbers and how it affects your CSI (the wheel thing that came with your kit)SHoot for 0 or just under 0. CYA needs to be around 30 or 40 if you are using bleach. If you are using Dichlor the number does not matter so much. However, unless this is a fresh fill, you should be seeing some CYA. Thanks for the reply. This might be a stupid question but, to get FC I just need to add chlorine then? Now you say use bleach after you soak, is this just regular liquid bleach, and how much is normally used. I just ran the number on pool calculator and it says I need to add some chmicals. So, where it says to add bleach, or trichlor, or what ever...I do that...right? Is there a certain order I should add them?

  21. I'm using taylor 2006 for testing. This is basically my first time using this test kit, so I a little confused here. I tested the FC and it said if FC is present my sample will turn pink. When mine never did,so I guess I have no FC then. Is that good or bad? Now since that sample is clear, how do I test for Chlorine. Or does that mean there is no chlorine present in the tub. Ph is 7.8 - 8.0 TA-60 CH-60 CYA-should nothing. It said the sample would be cloudy, but it was clear. Is that good or bad. So I was going to enter these number in the pool calculator but, I'm not sure how to enter the results for FC & CYA. Any thoughts? Thanks
  22. This looks good. 1 question, how do I determine my target numbers? thanks
  23. First off, i suck at maintaining my tub. I'm just not really sure what to use and when to test, etc... I have a D1 Californian, 350gal kept at 98 degrees This tub gets used about 3 times a week. I have a taylor 2006 chlorine test kit. My PH is about 7.4, ALK is about 60ppm. Problem is I'm not sure how often to test. I read that people use chlorine. MPS, bleach, baking soda and I'm not sure what I should be using and when. If anyone knows or has some type of guide, what test numbers should I be getting and when. What to use? Anything!! I got in my tub tonight and there was a little brownish goop around the water line (is this normal?), also the water was a little musty. I changed the water about 3 weeks ago but I've only used it 3 times since then. Any help someone can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
