  1. WalMart sells a similar unit to the one pictured. I just picked one up for about $12.00 if I remember correctly. Also came with a small brush that clips on the end instead of the nozzle and a small net that clips to the handle for skimming the surface. I looked on their website but did not find it, but it was in my local store right with the pool chemicals

  2. Just a heads up for what I thought was a decent deal if you have spa that uses a Sloan LED lighting controller. Someone on ebay has a 23 FM Modulators listed for sale for $39.99 each or "Make Offer". I offered $10.00, plus $5.00 shipping which was accepted so I bought and just recevied one. It simply plugs into your Sloan LED lighting controller which I think is one of the most common LED controllers made for spa LED lighting and has a RCA input jack for a music input to make the lights flash to the rhythm of the music. Cheesey I know, but for $15.00 bucks I thought "what the heck". Not sure what they cost normally. If interested jsut type "spa led music" and that should take you straight to it.

  3. Hello all. I am interested in finding a small spa to be used on a patio behind my townhouse here in Atlanta. The measurements of my patio are 96" x 51". The homeowners association will allow me to have a spa, however I am not allowed to lengthen or expand the area nor am I allowed to have any part of the spa extend out past the concrete. In other words, the spa has to be small enough to fit in this spot.

Can you offer any recommendations on a spa which will fit? I am a single fella and will use it mostly for relaxing in after I finish running so I'm not worried about getting more than two people into it, and even that will be a rarity. I see that Thermospas makes one that will fit called the Gemini, but after reading about their sales practices I'm a bit afraid to give them a call.

Thanking you all in advance for your assistance.

Cal Spa makes a couple of 2 and 3 person spa-83"x43" which is 2 seats that face each other , and 54"x78" which is the same 2 seats, plus a lounger by their side.

  4. Hi Rebecca. I think this one is completely a matter of personal preference. We went with the fake stuff, purely based on it being low maintenance. My sister has cedar on her spa and they love it and don't mind the work involved in keeping it looking nice. I don't have any info. on the insulation properties between the two. I can tell you that my energy bill has only seen a .60 cent increase since we added the spa, so I'm assuming that the fake stuff doesn't pose a problem there. What kind of spa are you getting?

Tiny- could you explain the .60 cent increase? Thanks

  5. Santa dropped of our CN-51 Cal Spa on Christmas day-I couldn't believe it. It heated up to 102 the first night and so far the only problem is I do not want to get out of it. That and somehow the cabinet is the wrong color (more common mahogany color) and should have been a dark brown (less common-smoke color) which they will change out very soon for us. We bought a spa on the big side for the kids to be able to splash around a little bit in the summer and a lounger on the end for me. Options added were the floor dome jets, 2 waterfalls, LED lighting, stainless jet trim rings, 3 extra neck jets in 1 corner, full foam, and ozonator. Thanks to everyone for all of the informative posts and messages on here!! :) I learned a ton before and even after I made my purchase. Because of what I learned on here, I made some changes to the options on my order that should make the whole experience more enioyable.

  6. Does anyone have any experience with the floating thermal covers or blankets? I know some are on the cheap side like bubble wrap and some are more heavy duty.

I am considering buying one to use under the foam cover. Do they work? Are they a big hassle? Any good or bad brands? I have a big spa on order 93x130 - 800 gallons, so even in Houston I would like to conserve as much heat as possible during our winter MONTH :D Probably will not use or need it during the summer months.

  7. does anyone know if you can interface a spa control to X-10 remote control?

i think i can use a universal X-10 relay to break the hot leg to the heater and switch it back on a couple hours before i want the temp back up, but the jets will probably try to keep running in the meantime. if i switch off power to one leg of the power to the whole system, it might also work as long as the unit remembers what it's current temp setting is, which mine seems to do after power has been turned off and back on.

X-10 is a system that uses signals broadcast over your home AC power system to turn modules on and off. your home system can be preprogrammed to turn devices on and off at preset times, or even accessed over the internet. you could theoretically log on to your webpage from work and turn on the heat or program it at a set time. or you can just pick up the wireless remote in the house and click it on.

i've been thinking about this for a while, but was reminded tonight when i realized i had forgotten to go out on the deck and crank up the heat at 7 so i would have hotness by 9.

I know Roger Clemmens had this feature put into his jacuzzi bathtub. I heard him braggin about it on tv years ago that he could land in Houston at the airport and have the tub heated by the time he got home via phone.

  8. My pre delivery guide for my hottub states the following: "your new spa requries a dedicated 50 amp GFCI service with four #6 AWG copper wires.....You can use #6 for distances up to 85 feet. Wire runs over 85 feet must increase to #4 gauge." Are they talking for the TOTAL run or just from the GFCI breaker to the spa? # 4 for the total run seems to be major overkill, but I do not want to void my warranty. The spa company's phone people cannot answer with any degeree of confidence. My electrician told me the run from my main to the GFCI is 160- 170 feet max, the spa is less that 10 feet away from the GFCI box..............any comments?
