  1. Voodoo-Diver, Last weekend I wet tested a Hot Springs Grandee (they didn't have a filled Vista-what we really wanted) to compare to a Sundance Cameo. At the same price point, the HS was much more comfortable and seemed much better constructed. Back to your tub, they quoted us $ 9250 on the Envoy (cover, lifter, steps, delivery included) with no negotiation. This is in Rochester NY, so I don't know if delivery costs will play a role - but I would think with bargaining you could do a lot better than $ 9195. Maybe we'll check out the Jacuzzis to further muddy the waters. Greg. Hey Greg, I am curious when you say you thought the HS was better constructed in what way are you referring to. What about it made you feel this way. Voodoo, On the Hot Springs we preferred the following to the Sundance: Controls - the valve controls seemed much more substantial and durable. The ones on the Sundance were wobble and felt like the kids would break them off in a year's time. Skirt - HS was much heavier guage material, and would not flex like the Sundance. Shell - HS has smoother contours and feels better against your body when moving about the tub. I looked at the Jacuzzi 375 yesterday, and your price looks very good. I was quoted $ 8200 with cover, lifter, steps, delivery, start up chems, and ozonator installed. The salesman claimed that he was extending some sort of sale for this special price - I prefer your quote at $ 7000 even if it didn't have ozone included. It looks like a nice tub, no foot dome in the center to get in the way of tall people. I'll probably wet test it soon. Greg. We love our J365 we have had it since Oct 07 and no issues. Things we love it keeps the heat while all the jets are on. Great thing during our cold winter. When the heater is on it is quite. Our friends of a different brand and it is not. (not going to say the brand) We use it alot and it has held up very well. Our friends use ours more because they like the jets and the seats. Hope this helps. Dave
  2. I am looking into Flex Fence for my roof. Anyone used this product, by the web site it looks it should work well. I am looking for a roof that does not block my view at night but when it snows it keeps us out of the snow. Any other ideas would be great. I plan to build this myself. Thanks,
  3. Your price is that in cdn. funds and does that include taxes. It is good to see that the price is so close and as well the local dealer was very helpful.
  4. You're definitely not getting a warranty with either one. However, for a model only a year old, you're not losing much (if anything) in terms of features or lifespan, and you could save those thousands towards any future repairs you may need. It can be a good idea. I'm curious as to where you can find a selection of year old name brand spas. Dealers occasionally have some, but to have a decent selection of late-model tubs is rare from what I've heard. If you're finding them on Craigslist or eBay, be careful, as many posters here have reported them to be scams. As for Hot Spring and Jacuzzi, they're both premium brands with many supporters here & on other boards. We purchased a Jacuzzi J365 last week and the key is to wet test. That is what sold us on it. We have spent time in friends tubs and had a good idea on what features we were looking for. Just to sit in it does not give you an idea on how the jets feel. As a base line we paid 9500 cdn taxes in, lid, lid lifter and delivered.
  5. True, in either case you can get a lemon or a gem. The thing to realize is you're just about 5x as apt to get a lemon from some of the lesser spa companies in the industry as compared to some of the better spa companies. Don't just shop on price though because "lesser" is largely defined by quality and some companies like Cal, Master and Thermo put expensive glitzy spas out there but I personally wouldn't trust their quality. I couldn’t agree more about over thinking our decision to purchase a practical hot tub, my wife thought I was crazy for wanting to look at so many and wet test. But once we tried a few she did agree it was the right thing to do. I think her concern was I would not buy one. We will have this tub longer than any car I have owned.
  6. I almost bought the same tub. Had a driveout price of $6500 US dollars including cover lifter, cover, steps, and exterior lighting, deliver and start up chemicals. I got scared off by stories about problems with the controls. We went for the J365 on the weekend mainly because of the extra room and the foot jets sold us. It seems every tub has an issue I hope we won't have many. We went for it also because it suited us the best after wet testing many models. That is the best advice. Just have to wait 4 to 6 weeks. BTW we spent $9500 cdn cover lifter, cover delivery ans start up chemicals.
  7. Thinking about buying a Jacuzzi J345 for around $8500 cdn. lid lifter, steps, delivery and taxes included in that price. First question is that a fair price. Dealer seems really good and going to wet test this weekend. Our second choice is a Gulf coast for $900 cheaper but my concern is their good service for that tub in the area, the seller is in a warehouse and I am concerned for $900 is it better to go with Jacuzzi. Lastly is their some other brand other than Coast spas, Hydropool and Beachcomber we should consider because we do not like any of the models they have to offer. We are a family of 4 with a 6 & 9 year old and we are both 5' 9". New to the forum and so far very usefull. Dave
